C17 Summary

This game had four players that were all challenging fiercely for a place in 
Round E, which meant that it would be a hard-fought battle in this game!  The 
players were:

Falcon had strong finishes in Rounds A & B, with final standing of 13th 
place.  His two Heroes were Finist and Sineglazka.

Shang Tsung (Lord Garlic) was just behind Falcon in 14th place.  His first 
Hero was Maga and second Hero was Maga Quester.

Evgeny was right on their heels in 22nd place.   The two Heroes were Lady 
Aewin and Beregond.

Leigon Of Doom was at the top of the heap in 7th place after Round B.  His 
first hero was named Lady of Doom and the second hero was the Lord of Doom.


Unfortunately for Evgeny, the Lady Aewin was left unprotected in City 32 and 
defeated in battle by Finist in only the third turn of the game.  The war 
against three opponents that had already done better than Evgeny had gotten 
off to an unauspicious beginning!  In fact, by Turn 8, Evgeny had been 
reduced to a single city.  Soon afterwards, Shang Tsung abandoned the game 
and became a Lost Player, leaving the rest of the game between Falcon and the 
Legion Of Doom.  Those two finished off the last opposing city on Turn 13, 
and cheerfully moved through the rest of their turns until the end of the 
game.

There were very few major battles, and not a whole lot of roleplaying in this 
war, and consequently was not very exciting to read.  In fact, it must not 
have been very exciting to play, as evidenced by this quote by Falcon:

"Oh well, bored navies reached one boring city, terrible bored minotaur 
sliced some boring spiders with his (boring?) axe, bored dwarves brought a 
bored elephant through boring hills to another boring city... "


In the end, despite pleas from the moderator for the two remaining Warlords 
to fight it out, Falcon and Legion Of Doom chose to accept peace and maintain 
their status quo, with 29 and 19 cities respectively.


A majority of cities as Red should mean that Falcon is destined to be in the 
Round of 16, and a 40% finish as Black should be sufficient to hold onto a 
top 16 ranking for the Legion Of Doom.  Who knows, perhaps those two will 
meet again in Round E, or even in battle for the unquestioned title of The 
Greatest Warlord Of Them All!
