He then emerges in 01... Annoyed at the prosaic name, the Capital "01" is renamed by Wat as "01 Triumph!" Gold at Start of Turn: 13,039 gp Wat troops off to NW Elemental, and lo and behold, he finds an Elemental! The supernatural being is immediately pursuaded by the injustices of the peasantry, and rises to the cause... (1 x Elemental joins) Journeying then on to NW Ghost, Wat liberates the haunted spirit, and the Ghost converts out of gratitude. (1 x Ghost joins) Wat nows thinks that there may be a slightly skewed ratio of supernatural to "normal" beings in his army, and sets about rectifying the situation. Griffins built in 01 Triumph! for 1700gp Wat's old farming mate says he disagrees with the agressive stance Wat is taking over the oppression of the serfs, and so Wat kindly cuts his throat... It reads: Dear Sir White Dragon (Yellow) - I know it is early in the war, but I propose an alliance to help us expand in cooperation. We have the advantage of moving our troops before the others; let us not waste this by fighting each other and letting the others catch up. Let us instead band together, draw up our mutual boundary, and both press southwards to our true destiny! To alliance treaty could be as thus: a) To last up to turn 10, after which we can re-negotiate (it can be longer if you wish, I am willing to make the alliance last for the entire game if you are). b) Make our common E-W border city "05", and do not cross this without just cause or explanation. Either you can have the city "05" and I access to the ruin "Northern Gold", or vice versa. The choice is yours... c) Free access to the North Temple, and other temples in areas we control. D) Explain unsettling actions (such as a sudden change of production, vectoring or troop movements that may appear to threaten our alliance). If you agree to the alliance, feel free to add any other conditions you see fit. I am open to negotiation. I will await your answer on this turn. If you do not answer, I will take it as a refusal, and offer the same treaty to either my Red or Blue neighbour. Regards, Wat Tyler, leader of the Peasantry. Cheers, Bazz Barry W. Where was he? The last thing he remembered was smoking a cigarette and watching a rerun on the tele he had seen a hundred times over. Quickly scanning Pink looked around for any familar landmarks. He couldn't see any. But at the base of the Pyramid, he spotted a little peasant looking man toiling in the field. Pink ran towards him yelling, "Hey! Hey you!" The man looked up, startled. "I see you have arrived.", said the man. "Where the Am I", remarked Pink. "Welcome to the land of Warlords! You have been chosen. Here take these keys and unlock the ruins to the Southeast, there you shall find some Allies to aid the Master.", explained the man. "Master? What do you mean?", exclaimed Pink. "Go now, in time you will understand." The old man pulls a small scroll from his torn clothes and hands it to Pink. "Do not read until you are far away from here. I feel the master senses my actions. Go now.", said the man. "But where am I again? War-what? Huh?", Pink said looking confused. "GO!", yelled the man. With that he began to walk back towards the great pyramid. Pink stilled trying to understand what just happened, runs down the road through a small mountain range and frees the Elemental and Ghost. Alas he looks up at the dead end and thinks "Now What?" The elemental screams down the road and heads north, attacks and liberates 22 Pigs on the Wing (actually Pigs/Wing). Confused the Elemental begins to head south. Stops then just sits and waits. While it would be momentary much > easier for me to attack Wat's cities, this would allow you to get stronger, > when I'm in war with you this allows Wat get stronger. > What can you offer? To White Dragon - As you know, my plan for a North-South War was never a secret. If we do ally, our future looks good, if we don't and start fighting each other instead, then we allow the other factions to get stronger. I have the potential to mass considerable troops on our common border to defend myself if it comes to that. However, you will have noticed I am an honourable opponent, as last turn I had the chance to sack your Griffin-building city of East Village and really put you on the back foot. I did not do it! I can see your worry is that I'll dominate Maddog, and once I've cleaned him up I'll turn on my past "ally" with all my new found strength, and massacre him (you). I've seen this before in other wars, and it's ugly, and against the spirit of an alliance. So, I guarantee I won't do this. I guarantee to you that if we ally, and if you wish it, we will be allies for the entire 20 turns of the war. If I do not honour this statement, may the gods strike me down (and may the other warlords who later read this game's history to reflect on my character in later games see my back-stabbing treachery, and never trust me again). The alliance conditions could take one of two directions, either of which I am amenable to: a) We grab all the enemy cities we can, until they're both eliminated. If one guy manages to grab 60% of the total cities on the map while his ally has 40%, so be it, the war stops there (ie still no attacks on each other). or b) We concentrate on eliminating the enemy. Once this is done, we carve the map up, swapping cities as neccessary so that we each possess 50% of the remaining cities at the end of the game (50% of cities will still give a great final ranking!). The other option is the one I discussed earlier, namely that when the enemy is destroyed we turn on each other. While I definitely don't favour that option, I am willing to acceed to it if that is what you wish. > Dragon > Dear Wat, (White) > > Thanks for toasting me. My minsters work hard on prapearing our alliance treaty. I think > it will be ready soon. We'll I've now spelt out my plans to you in detail. (I hope I am not out of line.) I believe the White Hero's (John Ball) next target is the SW giant worm. I do not see a safe way that you can free it on your turn 7. At most, with the use of his fly item John Ball could free the Giant worm and have an elemental and a demon helping him defend his hero. -Then you could threaten a retaliation with the below warbot. (Warbot A) At the least he would have his hero undefended in the temple. -Then you could kill his hero with a devil hero combination. I would recommend the following in the coming 2 turns. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Turn 7 moves: 1) Lord Scottie searches SW Devil, frees devil. With Devil Lord Scottie flies directly towards SW Worm. This should put you 4W and 3N of 57 "Cottage". 2) Move the 3 Heavy Infantry in 57 "Cottage" directly west and become navies. 3) Move the Heavy Infantry navy which is NE of Lord Scottie down near Lord Scottie and the Devil. (close enough so they can move to temple turn 8) 4) Move 2 Spiders from 46 "Lakeside" 1e and 1ne into the water. 5) Move your 1 Spider from 45 "Cabin" to 46 "LakeSide" 6) Spend 320 gp in 46 "Lakeside" for lt infantry and Giant bats to boost defense (this will help fend off a alternate possible elemental/demon attack) see Warbot B. (white can give his demon enough movement with the aid of his fly item) Recommended moves turn 8: (assuming you need to attack the temple) 1) All the Heavy infantry navies should meet up with Lord Scottie and devil. 2) Your 2 spider navies should move 2 south of the SW Worm temple. 3) Group (Lord Scottie, devil and 4 navies), fly to 1 se of temple. 4) Ungroup stack. Fly Lord Scottie over Spider navies to pick them up. 5) Group Lord Scottie with navies and move back to 1 SE of temple. 6) attack if needed. If seeing this, John Ball does not search the temple then you can free the worm easily on turn 8. (and defend your hero, devil if needed). ------------------------------------------------------------------- To conclude: I thought this might help you out, but if you have other ideas I understand. Brook" to all players; Warlords - I was much amused by Lovesword's pseudo-stategic advice for Maddog. Has the term "Pie in the Sky" slipped your from your memory oh Warlord? The simple fact is that John Ball can free the Worm on his next turn, and there is *absolutely nothing* my enemy Maddog can do about it. Maddog, follow his advice if you wish, and see where it takes you.... Futility, that is the nature of this war for the southern alliance! I pose the question, why should I then make some foolish move towards the southern temple, when my hero / worm will be free to roam wherever they please and out of harm's way? Perhaps in an eastern direction... The world is John Ball's oyster, and Maddog's potential special allies are now *my* special allies. Ahh, that shall make victory all the more sweet to use his rightful armies against him! Dragon my ally, methinks that Lovesword doth already show panic at his impending doom. I already see the white of his eyes and the sweat beading on the furrows of his creased brow :) I regret that I must wage such an aggressive war towards the nation of Maddog, as to be honest he had never really done me any harm. Still, to get to my true enemy Lovesword, I must go through his lands, and liberate them to the peasants cause in the process. Lovesword, I am coming. Dragon is coming. Our only advantage is, Wat and Dragon Lady have fly items, she >(Sedona) not. That will prove a decisive advantage, my friend. I've fortified "61 Foothold" in such a way that if Red attacks he will lose *all* but his pathetic hero... so by all means go ahead Red Devil :) If it proves that he has some small military sense, then as you suggested he is likely to move north and attempt to occupy the temple. The fact that he has no flight item means we can easily stay out of his reach, and block him in either direction. Further, as I speak, more of my hordes approach the northern field of combat to lend aid. He can achieve nothing up north if we work together as a team. For instance, I'm quite willing to sacrifice allies and troops to "knock his stack down", and allow you to move in for a kill with your stacks. It is *extremely* difficult to defend against / plan for the combined attacks of two opponents. Let's see how he finds it ;^) Meanwhile, the war in the southwest proceeds as I had forseen. My advance south and southeast shall now be inexorable and ever more rapid, so if I was the Red fool, I'd pull back, solidify my defences, and wait for the inevitable crush from a two front war. It is coming oh so soon... I also declare now that I shall *never* attack any Yellow forces for the remainder of the war. Our alliance shall be lasting, and sweet my friend! The plan I show here is a quick and dirty solution, and if you think about it some more you may come up with a better combination. Nevertheless, this works... Note that I've included all relevant blessings in these calculations. It is clearly crucial that we deny Red access to the temple, as we don't want his stack further blessed and entrenched in our territory. So... You move the three spiders out of 53 Watergate and place them within range of the temple next turn... You may also wish to bring your other hero to approach the temple to later collect stray items :) Then, you block the temple with your Hero combination, and he attacks as follows: WarBOT beta 8 Armyset: Tournament b1-4 WL version: PC Deluxe Intense Combat: Off Terrain: Ruin/temple Hero Bonuses Non- For- TOTAL Minus Fly Natural Item Hero tify City Cancel BONUS Enemy Item -------------------------------------------------------------- ATT: 1 0 2 0 NH *2* 0 No DEF: 1 0 2 0 2 H *2* 0 Yes Entered Final Attack Units: Strength Strength Survival % --------------- -------- -------- ---------- *Hero 6 8 0.83343 <-- Lives! A hero (+allies) for a hero (+allies), and us out of any danger! Now, if he does proceed with this course of action, he loses his major attacking stack, and we are clear to then move on Red from the north. As I mop up down south, I can also move on him from the west, forcing him to divide his forces...
