Mighty Thor arises from Asgard and recruits two drinking buddies, Gary the Ghost and Atom the Elemental. After getting "hammered" at the local ruins, Gary and Atom rush off to "Paint the Town Yellow", leaving the Mighty Thor behind to reflect on their drunken revelry. Some might claim Thor stayed behind to recover from a hang over. Not so! Such nonsense is for foolish Mortals. Atom stumbles into a quaint little town and subdues a Scout. After giving it no thought what so ever, Atom names the sleepy little village New Norse, for lack of a better idea. Atom likes the new name. Druken pillaging can be lots of fun -- even for a beer saturated Elemental. And as Atom nods off into a drunken stupor he congratulates himself for his wonderful naming job. What a great name! Mr. Mengo is sending his Elemental my way and since he moves first I can't really expect to get to those border cities before he does. So rather than fight for a losing cause, I am sending my Elemental where I will arrive first -- your border. You can adopt the same strategy and send your Elemental to Pug's border. Pug will probably then send his Elemental to Mengo's border, and then we'll all be even. It would be bad for both of us if you strongly contested your border with me, because we end up wasting time and energy on each other when we could be focussing our energies else where. Besides, I would probably get there first. What a waste of time for you. All, Anybody wanna be allies or make a deal? I realize it's probably too early yet, but I love to make mutually beneficial deals. Win-Win and all that stuff. Keep your friendly Thor guy in mind if you're looking for a friend! The samurai warriors are ready to fight this duel of swamp land!. Having the war council command the start of another mighty war, we!-- the samurai nation surely could not refuse nor complain, It was a day forth coming with honour and glory awaiting us!. The samurai warriors now had to fight.. but they could not use their older uniforms from their previous war!. They were given the orders to conceal their previous identity!. Hunzo laughed at that!.. So in disgust, he ordered the changing of the new samurai colour to be.. Bloody RED!. knowing how his samurais thrive to kill and plunder nations, he ordered them to paint over their older uniforms with the blood of their previous war's victims!. He said: " My faithful and merciless samurai!.. Let it be known that you shall be Bloody Red!!!. "Thou shalt" slay all thy POW's and paint thyselves with their blood!... It is thy honour!, painted all over you!!! " After the pep talk, a loud roar erupted from the crowd, and each warrior began to carry out his order!.. [ Horrifying scene edited for violent and graphical content! ] Now all warriors were painted RED and they seemed suddenly more anxious to fight and battle!. From this day onward, the new samurai capital was re-named after the events that took place on this unforgetable day to "Butcher Town" !. The most valiant samurai hero SAMURAI was given the now red samurai banner to carry with him!. He immediatly traveled to ruin SE and dispatched a samurai elemental, then he traveled further SE and dispatched this time a samurai ghost left wondering from an ancient samurai era!. Elemenal, also splashed in the face with a bucket of blood, rushed in a heart beat towards a city north of the samurai capital (32) and took it. Due to his swift samurai ninja training, the city was re-named to "Ninja Town", and a ninja school was opened immediatly for training young samurai warriors! Meanwhile, the ancient samurai ghost was given the chance to redeem his spirit, by gaining back his ancient samurai honour, where he once!, unfortunately, lost it in a long ago samurai battle :(. Mighty Thor spent half of eternity interviewing heroes and heroines. Usually no one showed up to interview. Those who did either wanted to live in Asgard, wanted too much money, or had poor connections in the allies department. "Must every hero come with a ghost?" roared the frustrated God of Thunder. Thor had hoped to enlist Valkyrie, a hand maiden to Odin that carried dead warriors off to Valhalla. What could be more a fitting WarBroad? She also had interesting hobbies. In her spare time she sang Wagner operas and paraded around showing off her horned helmet and iron bra. Very high tech. The bra was later plagiarized by Madonna after the patent expired. But alas, Valkyrie never showed up. When an acceptable hero did finally arrive in New Norse, Thor was so excited he hired on the spot without asking for a name -- and unfortunately ended up with a dweeb called Yellow Leader. Never the less, the Norse team worked well together, and at the end of the day, four more cities were enlisted to the cause. "Time for more ale!" shouted the God of Plunder. "Drinks are on the house!" Our poor hero drank alone that night. Giant Bats are not allowed to drink while flying. Atom the Elemental and Gary the Ghost were suffering from a gigantic hangover and had no interest in anything that was slightly alcoholic. Elemental has spent enough days in 'Ninja Town' to train many young samurai warriors!. It has come!, the time and day to choose the next powerful samurai hero of the Bloody Red Samurai Nation!. Many requests were submitted by young beautiful samurai maidens to ask for a new and young (less veteran), but full of vigor hero nevertheless!. young samurai girls like handsome mascular samurai heroes, especially after they have brought back some honour!. One very touching and appealing request from a samurai noblewoman asked for a hero in a sincere song from her aching samurai heart!.. And it goes something like this!.. " I need a hero!.. " Ah well, we know what she sang and what it sounded like! ;) As Elemental finished the last ninja lesson just before he was going to leave 'Ninja Town', he took a walk in the near-by forest. As he was walking and thinking of the present military stand between the nations. he suddenly heard strange sounds of sword swipes, cutting, and wood breaking. He rushed swiftly to the scene to investigate the source of this masterful sword skill, he reached the scene, and he was emazed to find his best student that left his training to wonder in a meditation journy alone in search of his path of glory and honor in life!. He was non other than... NINJA!!! Elemental, called on him. "NINJA!" NINJA replied, "Master!!!" Elemental: "Where have you been all this time NINJA san?" NINJA: "Training and thinking master" Elemental: "Hmm.. you've grown stronger, more skilfull, swifter... You are a masterful ninja NINJA san!." NINJA: "Thank you master!." I am not sure if I can bring honor home like SAMURAI!" Elemental: "Yes!, you are ready!.. you must start now so that you are one day as strong as SAMURAI, with lots of honor!" NINJA: "Yes master!, if you say so!" Elemetal: "Hurry up then!, use your ninja skills that I taught you!. Waist no time NINJA san!.. go!" NINJA: "Yes master!" I'm gonna make this short and to the point!. Its best for us to have an alliance just like you suggested before, it would be better for us to focus our energy and strength else where. especially, since we seem to be heading in a collision course shortly which is not profitable nor neccesary. Anyways, I'll give you my terms to the agreament of an alliance between us!. and as you'll see, it is really not much, infact it is a generous one too!. All I ask from you is the following: 1) No hostility whatsoever!. 2) Since your elemental is close to the border city between us and can get 2 cities out of the 3. then you take those two. and leave city 31 for me since I can take it anyways with my elemental. but I would have to waist time and energy with Elemental to take it immediatly just so you don't!. but with an alliance I'll just have to trust your word that you'll leave it for me. and in exchange!.. 3) You can bring your armies and heroine to the Eastern Temple and have blessings without any risistance from me!. and I would expect the same from you. but since I can get to the temple before you and occupy it. I'll share it with you instead!. *And*.. 4) I won't contest with you on the gold ruin that lies between us! you can have it!!. You must admit that that is very reasonable if not generous!. anyways, by letting you visit the temple at anytime, have the gold ruin! and keep the 2 cities that you can take from our border and not worry about me attacking them later, while you can bring your elemental immediatly out of there for blessings, is very useful for you as it is for me!. meanwhile, I'll have to expand else where swiftly to make up for this much that I'm giving you in exchange for a very valuable alliance between us!. Therefore, whatever I get to first before you do other than our border, is mine and there will be no sharing there, but still no hostility, since we would be allies. So what do you say mighty Thor? Do you agree to my terms? let me know in your coming turn report so that I can take the appropriate moves which require an alliance between us. -Hunzo. _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Thursday March 12, 1998 at 01:32 AM EST by Larry Lang to all players; REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND B, GAME 11, TURN 03, SIDE 02 (Yellow) DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE AT THE END!!!! History tells us that Vikings were actually one of the most adaptable cultures that ever roamed the seas. The Viking clans conquered much of England and France and were never evicted. Instead, so quickly did they integrate with their captives -- they soon lost their identity. In France the new blend of Vikings and European natives were later known as Normans. Thus Thor and his merry warriors quickly blended into the North Eastern countryside. Sometimes a battle was required, but usually the Norse men merely challenged the local scout to an ale drinking contest. It was always just a short period of time until the Scout passed out, with the Norse challenger still standing. While the Scout slept, the town was quickly assimilated into the domain of Asgard. In later years, many Fathers in the countryside would often sit with their children around the fireside and give advice as Fathers too often do. "Never try to drink anyone under the table if they have horns on their helmet" they would warn, "or you'll experience painful regret when you wake up the next day." Thank you for the gracious offer. I have left City 31 alone, as thou requested. I'm not interested in gold at this time, so let us agree that whoever gets to the gold first gets to keep it. If thou dost get there before I do, be my guest. A clarification: all cities that are exactly on the border are fair game for either of us, and cannot be attacked by the other once they are taken. Cities that are not on the exact border (such as city 31) belong to the natural owner (in this case you). Also, the treaty expires if other opponents become inaccessible (i.e. we wipe out everyone else). I will give plenty of advance warning (at least 3 turns) when and if I think this is about to happen. Mengo, Thou art aggressing into my territory, even before the middle cities are taken. Thor and his rowdy men were happy with their new found alliance, but a little disappointed with their presents of Blood Wine. Vikings are not vampires and they consider themselves to be much better looking than Klingons. A more enlightened group might have tried to pretend that the wine tasted like beer and tomato juice. They look somewhat the same. But early Europeans thought Tomatoes were bad for the soul and essentially poisonous. Tomatoes were often called "The Devil's Fruit". Thus, no self respecting Viking ever did or ever will be caught drinking ale and tomato juice, even though such a brew is popular with modern Bohemians who don't know any better. Not wanting to seem ungrateful, the Vikings tried many ingenious ways to use up their gift from the friendly Samurai. They made blood soup, toasted blood sandwiches, and even tried mixing it with pancakes. Nothing seemd to work so they finally decided to repackage it and distribute it as "Red Dog" ale. He only haunted by the strictest of ghost standards, as specified by the NAAGP (National Association for Advancement of Ghost People). For example, Gary only haunted people during Standard Haunting Hours (12 midnight until 4 AM) and only officially sanctioned ghost techniques were used. Gary's favorite trick was to turn off the electricity, become invisible, and then blow out all the candles whenever they were lit. He especially liked to let any glass doors blow open, just before the candles went out. Good stuff. When Gary entered City 51 he saw no reason to deviate from his normal practices and thus decided to use his favorite candle method to scare away all the inhabitants. Unfortunately he encountered a particularly determined neutral Boy Scout named Buster who had just earned a Fire Building Merit Badge. Every time Gary blew out the candles, the earnest young scout kept trying again with different obscure fire building techniques. Candles were lit by rubbing two sticks together, with sparks from flint, with a teepee wood pile, a blow torch, -- you name it, he tried it, and Gary blew it out. After all, Gary's the Best. Determined to light his @#$%^& candle, Buster poured on a gallon of gas and relit the saturated wick. The resulting explosion lit the candle, the curtains, the rug, and eventually just about everything else in City 51, including Buster. The town was quickly evacuated and renamed BlackRose Place. (All the roses were black, as was just about everything else). Meanwhile, Thor picked up his magic flying hammer Mjolner, and noticed the amazing progress of the bloody Samurai. Gary the Ghost WAS the Best. He was chuckling to himself as he flew over the sea. He knew he was invulnerable to attacks from Black Rose Place. However, the white scoundrels from Melrose fooled poor Gary and attacked from a Bridge. Uh oh. Gary the Ghost would haunt no more. Threatened by the belligerent Melrose, Angelica the Archon and her pet Griffin joined up with Thor to take back the Vikings rightful city, now named the Clinic. The White Elemental challenged Thor and all his thunder, but in the end, the side with the bigger hammer won out. How can two bats take on 3 wolfriders? It's very simple. Several times when the wolves tried to take a bite out of our yellow flying fur balls, they ended up on the very nasty horns of a Viking Bat Helmet. On the horns of a dilemma, so to speak. Remember, always wear your safety hats when playing WarLords. Yellow Leader was a bit disappointed. Although perhaps I should have been more clear, I consider anything North of center of the map to be mine and anything South to be yours, unless we modify the agreement. Thus the three cities in the Northern half of the middle are for Melrose and me to fight over. If you could evacuate city 65 it would be appreciated. Then we can live in peace and both concentrate on ripping apart our corresponding enemies. If you think I'm being unreasonable, please notice that I have enough fire power on stand by to easily implement my wishes (and then some). I have no wish to fight, but I can't let you get too far ahead. As long as we maintain equal parity, we can live in a state of truce that will benefit both of us. However, if either one of us becomes too strong compared to the other, the other will be forced to switch alliances and try to equalize the game again. So it is in both of our interests if we divide up the middle cities equally. If you force me to go to war, I'll have to take away your Southern cities also, to ensure that you don't try to take back the Northern ones. It seemed to us at the beginning that it was a false letter from an enemy, but unfortunately it wasn't!. Our viking friend suffers from a common viking deasese called 'greed'. I think you need a good lesson in geography my viking friend!. and I'll be more than glad to give you one now. first of all any neutral city that falls in your *quarter* of the map will be assumed to be yours (atleast in our treaty, which you very much mis- understood!), and any other city besides those are considered up for grabs. which means the city you have just taken (62) is yours. the rest are not. let me clarify our treaty which either you totally misunderstood, in which case is not my fault, or you purposely tried to manipulate after you saw my swift and *earned* progress!. [the Samurai's ending message after stating their proposal and conditions] >Therefore, whatever I get to first before you do other than our border, other than our border *AT THE TIME!*. you can't assume that anything north of the *entire* map is yours!. don't forget that there are two other players in the game and they too can assume what they want about those cities just as I would. anyways, at the time our border was simply the region that lied between our closest cities, which is the island that is closest to the eastern gold ruin. so you can't assume that the line dividing the upper and lower halves of the whole map is our border, simply because the region to the west of us at the time wasn't *yet* our territory!. continuing on my previous message.. >is mine and there will be no sharing there, but still no hostility, >since we would be allies. So I made it clear that there will be no sharing!, then you agreed to my proposal by the following response.. [Thor's reply to my intial proposal] >Great Warrior Hunzo, > Thy terms are very fair and reasonable. I accept. Thank you then you sent a *clarification*, i.e. something that makes established agreements more clear- *not* changes them!. > A clarification: all cities that are exactly on the border are fair >game for either of us, and cannot be attacked by the other once they >are taken. Agreed!, but since you failed here to define *exactly* what *you* mean by 'border'. then I would have to assume the *geographic* border which means something that devides *our* territory, *not* some imaginary territory which only you seem to have dreamt of it happening somewhere down the road!. continuing your message.. > Cities that are not on the exact border (such as city 31) >belong to the natural owner (in this case you). exactly!, thats because you *know* that that is in my *quarter* of the map, that is why you used the term 'natural'. just like the other two players have cities in their natural *quarter* unless someone can win those cities, *like* Melrose did to you by taking city 'Clinic', then when you took it from him just this turn, you said that you won your rightful city back, knowing that it lies in your quarter, otherwise, by your new nonsence recent definition of "border".. >Thus the three cities >in the Northern half of the middle are for Melrose and me to fight over. ..which contradicts what you said before about the 'Clinic' as being right- fully yours since its "yours and Melrose" to fight over!. You need to be more clear with your definitions!. [back to Thor's recent turn message] >He was sure that his Samurai allies would remedy the situation by the next >turn (see diplomatic message below). hah!.. remedy your geographic background first!. there is nothing for me to remedy! [Thor's "diplomatic" message] >DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE > Samurai Warrior -- in the clarification remarks for our treaty, >(See section on clarifications in my Archive message for turn 3), I >stated that neither side is allowed to infringe over our natural border. But you failed to explain what you meant exactly by 'border', maybe if you did then you knew that I was going to laugh at it, then refused!. As for your use of the term 'natural', then a line dividing the entire map into north and south does not mean a natural border, unless you possess the entire north and I possess the entire south. >Although perhaps I should have been more clear, you had your chance, but now its a little too late! > I consider anything >North of center of the map to be mine and anything South to be yours, again.. Hah! >unless we modify the agreement. again.. Too late! > Thus the three cities >in the Northern half of the middle are for Melrose and me to fight over. Are you sure that they're not yours only? >If you could evacuate city 65 it would be appreciated. You have got to be kidding! :) > If you think I'm being unreasonable, No! - I think you're being ridiculous! > please notice that I have >enough fire power on stand by to easily implement my wishes (and then >some). Is this the sort of diplomatic message you send to an ally ? Am I supposed to regard it with any value? (even if it was true!), I'm not the kind of warlord that takes threats pleasantly. Save your empty threats for someone who may regard them with fear. > I have no wish to fight, but I can't let you get too far ahead. then don't throw mud at me with your weak threats, as for me trying to get ahead then *try* to stop me :) > As long as we maintain equal parity, we can live in a state of >truce that will benefit both of us. is this one of your invisible conditions that we agreed upon, greedy viking? > However, if either one of us becomes >too strong compared to the other, the other will be forced to switch >alliances and try to equalize the game again. equalize?.. come on!, don't you mean never anyone getting ahead of you in *any* way?. And if you want to switch alliances then go ahead, see if it will work!. > So it is in both of our >interests if we divide up the middle cities equally. Let me correct that if I may, it will be in your best interest, NOT mine! > If you force me to go to war, I'll have to take away your Southern >cities also, to ensure that you don't try to take back the Northern ones. I would like to know who are your political advisors and military generals. I think I could use them as amusement in my leisure time by listening to what they say :). >Your devoted ally, >Thor The one thing you're devoted to is greed and empty threats, "Mighty" Thor!. In case you haven't figured it out yet!.. ..IT IS WAR!!! To Melrose: I understand that your present enemy is clearly Thor, and now, things have taken a strange turn thanks to Thor's sudden greed. Anyways, You realize now that Thor will have to fight me and you, which means he'll be surrounded from both sides and his progress will slow dramatically. also my progress will stop to the north voluntarily. I won't ask for an alliance with you, but since NOW we have a common enemy, it will be profitable for us to weaken him. He may try to convince you to become your ally so that he can fight me and stop me from getting "too far" ahead, but you obviously only care about your own profit as everyone does here!. so your own profit means expansion and more cities, which in that case would be easier if we *both* concentrate on *both* neighbors!. yes!- both neighbors because they're weak if attacked from both sides. I know I can defend against both sides, but it seems to me that Thor has the upper hand against you at your borders, he has just killed your elemental, taken a city from you and is heading with his armies inward, he has a devil to be released on his coming turn, then that hero (Mighty Thor) will go where he pleases!. He took city 62, wants 65 from me!, and from there will walk to city 61 without breaking a sweat!, obviously this viking villan won't stop there!. Believe me!, he wants your cities more than anything, he knows that fighting me is very costly which is why he allied with me. but that all should change. In case you wonder why I'm doing this, then its simple!. I'm not going to give away a city, armies, and gold because this greedy vike thinks it "belongs" to him!. The way it looks right now, you are in a good shape even though you lost the 'Clinic'. you're in control of the Northern Temple (and shouldn't give it up), you can take a blue city immediatly on your next move while releasing your demon by your third hero (coming from the city your ghost and first hero are in), and while he (Yellow) is occupied fighting me, you can move in with care. Pug on the other hand is very weak from the north at your borders, and can be exploited *with* profit at once. For this co-operation if you'ld like to call it so, I'll leave city 61 there for you untouched, and I won't even pillage it. obviously I can't take it this turn, but now Yellow can't take it either unless he wishes to risk some loss in exchange. And I won't attack you. This makes more sense than an alliance with Thor since we're too far apart to fight each other anyways, and if you ally with Thor then who are you going to fight? there will be no more neutral cities for me to take now, so I'll have to look for yellow and blue ones now!. Most of all, don't let Thor intimidate you with empty threats of his powerful armies because we all have armies. It is your choice!, but three things you'll find different in me than Thor: 1) I'm more clear with my diplomacy. 2) I give generously. 3) I'm not greedy! City 61 awaits you!.. NOTE!: You can take city 08 from blue right on your next turn no matter what!, and you should!, since you just lost city 'Clinic'. *AND* let your third hero come from the same city and the ghost will escort him nicely to the demon ruin!. Believe me!, Blue can't do a thing to stop this!. Why am I helping you against Blue? simple, the weaker Blue gets the easier it will be fighting him!, and the same goes for Yellow, only he is harder to fight, that is why you should be attacking Blue too, just remember that you don't have as many forces near Blue's border!. consider this a down payment for my loyalty and trust. Remeber!, I could be a valuable ally. -Honorable Hunzo. ============================================================================ REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND B, GAME 11, TURN 4, SIDE 3. ============================================================================ =================================================== ** A battle on shore south of '62' (v.s. I asked if thou wanted an agreement not to raze cities, and thou did not respond, so I did raze a neutral city in your area. I also took back a city in my area. But I have always dealt with thou honestly. I only like to battle one player at a time, and Hunzo has indicated that he wishes to do battle. Thou would do well to let Hunzo and I duke it out, while you skirmish with the Blue Pug. Neither one of us is well set up to attack each other, but we are both interested in expanding our influence to the South. There is no need for us to fight over the Northern Temple, we can share. If you agree to a temporary alliance, I will take over the center, and transfer all central cities on the West half of the map to you, when you are ready to occupy them. I will keep the two central cities that lie on our common border if I get there first. If you get there first, you can have them. I will stay in the East half of the map until Hunzo is gone (or the alliance becomes impractical). If conditions change, I will give you plenty of advance warning before I attack, which is more than Hunzo has done for me. I am an honorable Viking bug. I know that you don't like diplomacy stuff, but I think this is an offer you can't refuse. It's just too good to turn down. Unfortunately, alliances and politics are part of war. I may be a greedy Viking, but I'm an honest one. What sayest thou? Thor _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Tuesday April 14, 1998 at 02:51 PM EDT by "i.m. oraha" to all players; To Thor: I'll make it simple. I killed a bat from your armies and I'll lose a heavy infintry in city 65 once I give it to you. so I'll lose more!. I'm saying I'm going back on my word because I realize I made the wrong move cuz I acted fast based on your threats!. I realize I shouldn't have now. You're right, we'll lose much if we go to war. here's my proposal, I won't go to war with you and will agree to your previous conditions of the treaty. I'll give you back city 65 with nice spider productions *and* +2 defences in it. you must agree that it makes more sence if you now switch alliance to me again rather than Melorse. Look, I thought all along that Easter weekend was a vacation, so I didn't bother looking at the game until when I realized that it wasn't (Easter Sunday!). so I had very little time to make the rational move!, anyways if you agree to going back to the alliance then you get a nice city '65' and you can also get city '61' later on, then have your way with Melrose!, I understand that is more profitable!. I know I made a fool of myself with my previous archive message! :), but if you're wise enough you'll realize that even if you get some advantage on me next turn, then our war would be less profitable for you now that you can keep cities '65' and '61' , right? So, give me a chance until next turn and I'll empty out city '65' and will retreat my troops from our border. then I'll promise you not to end our alliance before plenty of warnings. Note: I won't attack you since I'll lose more if I do!. with respect and repentance, Hunzo _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Thursday April 16, 1998 at 12:49 AM EDT by davidvar@interlog.com to all players; --------------------------------------------------------------- REPORT FOR ROUND B, GAME 11, TURN 06, SIDE 04 --------------------------------------------------------------- Ruins ----- none. Greetings War Tortoises! At this rate we should be done well before Christmas. The Viking turn was not a quick one either, because of the long arduous search for a new hero. At each instant a great WarLord apparition would re-appear and nag the Vikings, saying that "All that gold must surely be a burden!" Enough Already! Vikings can never have too much gold. So why couldn't the great spirits let the search continue in peace? So utterly tired and out of sorts were the horn headed beer drinkers, that when a hero finally did apply (asking a very high price I might add) they quickly accepted and consequently forgot to give their new hero a fitting name. Thus Yellow Leader II was born. He was quickly put to work so that more gold could be acquired by the yellow horde at a nearby ruin. The battle field maintained a curious calm that camouflaged the rising tension. Yellow Leader I, confused by the fickle Samurais, decided to wait and see what the hot headed red heads would do next. (See diplomatic message below). Did they really want peace? Or was this just another tactic to stall for time? If you empty out city 65, all will be forgiven (but not forgotten). I don't really care about the Giant Bat. However, both of us are losing precious time with all this fooling around. It doesn't do me much good to have an ally that can switch sides at the drop of a hat. I have left some of my cities open to see if you can be trusted. If you go back on your word, I will fly in with my heroes, in kamikazee fashion, burn your cities, and let Melrose/Pug win the game. Neither you nor I want that to happen. Please don't test me on this one, because I ALWAYS keep my word. Melrose -- I'm sorry. I really don't want to fight you. I think I can trust you a little bit more than I can the Samurai. But all my troops are in motion, Hunzo has retracted his declaration of war, and you are apparently ambivalent about an alliance. So, on with the fighting. I expect the same from you, that is to withdraw your flying hero and allies from our border. I suggest we both concentrate our armies and strength on our westerly neighbors and crush them. Just for the record, I *did* make a mistake by declaring war on you last turn and I have admitted to it and keeping my word to continue the alliance, so your suicidal plan to go kamikaze on me and letting Melrose/Pug win the game (if they could) could have back fired on you if I had decided to attack you on this turn ("dropped the bomb"), which I may add could have been very devastating to you (major loss in cities as opposed to mine by end of turn 8. *QUIZ?*). So here's a little "tough talk" from an ally to an ally, which if you ask me is senseless and dangerous too! (stop watching CNN :) ). I'm not going against my word (which by the way was not rehearsed) because I'm deciding to treat you honorably since you seem to be a decent warlord (so far), and also because if I go to war against you I can't see Melrose being of much help if any-- especially with his vast useless gold, poor army deployment, and killer productions of light cavalry! :).. so I really don't see why you would "really not want to fight him!". I say he's all yours to devour!. I'm just curious to know how much gold he'll be taking along with him to his grave. Now one last thing. I had to take city 61 and pillage it in the process for the following good reasons: 1) I had to bring my elemental out of the center towards the Western Temple via the fastest way. 2) I'll need some cash back especially since I have installed for you a nice production in city 65, and you'll be getting some loot from it too. 3) We both know you won't be getting to city 61 before white does, so I might as well get the cash from it. I was thinking about defending it for you from white for the exchange of keeping city 65 for one more turn to get an extra spider and my heavy inf. back, but since you are taking from me and not giving (unlike me), I thought to myself.. "why should I !?". So please don't use this to say that I broke the treaty rules, which by the way, we can forget about the details of that treaty!-- let's just say for this new alliance, that I'll stay in the southern part of the map and you in the northern, the border (your definition) is up for grabs like you said before, starting... NOW!. -Hunzo in Peace. Note to Thor: If you would like to solve that quiz (above), then here's a little clue. Clue: Your third hero would've been dead!.. It is a sad tale indeed. After driving his poor opponents crazy, Hunzo managed to make an alliance with Orange (the Athletes). As allies, Hunzo then directed Orange to grant all sorts of little favors for the "good" of the alliance, which Orange willingly granted. White left the game early and went into defensive mode, so Orange and Hunzo were supposed to carve up white before they turned against each other. While telling Orange what good allies they were, Hunzo marched up and took all of Orange's undefended cities and ripped him from belly to rump before Orange even knew what hit him. You can read the archive files yourself, and probably should. It really gets sickening past turn 10, when an enraged Orange is forced to endure the taunts and boasting of Hunzo. Pug and Melrose, I suggest you read those files so you aren't taken in by all the hot air. If you're interested in how I behave, I was the "Avenging Angel" in game A17. You can cross-check the alias with my E-mail address lang@owt.com. In short, Hunzo is a pathological liar. During his previous battle, he rationalizes this by saying that Warlords is a game, and thus Hunzo is only an imaginary character, and not to be trusted. Game or not, Hunzo and his kind will continue to profit by telling lies, unless warlords that do not engage in such activities routinely punish such offenders. I personally am lie intolerant and am now decalaring war on Hunzo. Pug and Melrose, I will focus my efforts on Hunzo, depending on how willing you are to grant me some peace. Pug, we aren't very close to each other, but I would like to work a peace arrangement with you until Hunzo is dead. A very simple arrangement, I won't attack you and you don't attack me. I would suggest that you work the same deal with Melrose if he's willing, but that's your choice. Also, I've noticed that you could improve some of your strategies. If you want advice, I'm very willing to give it to you when you fight Hunzo. But I won't give any advice unless you want it, and tell me you would be interested in my comments. Your choice. Melrose, I would also like to work out a peace arrangement with you until Hunzo is dead. Once again, the same simple rules. I won't attack you and you don't attack me. I believe that if you read the complete "transcripts" from turn A15 that you will agree that Hunzo must die. He cannot be anyone's ally because he can't be trusted, and he deserves to be punished for past misdeeds. If he isn't punished, he will continue to profit by fooling other warlords and could win the tournament. Something I just couldn't stand for. So please consider my offer and let me know. I can only fully focus on Hunzo if you agree to a no attack clause. Otherwise, I will have to fight mostly you while watching my back. Gentlemen (not you Hunzo), it is in all of our interests to focus on Hunzo -- both strategically and in the interest of justice. What sayst thou? Mighty Thor _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Sunday May 03, 1998 at 03:06 PM EDT by ioraha2@julian.uwo.ca to all players; Greetings Pug, Melrose, and Dirt Digger.. The self proclaimed "Mighty" Thor is indeed a faithful watcher of CNN :). Anyways, Thor is really using propaganda here to serve his *own* self interests, but he claims to be honorable or something of that nature. He goes through the trouble to read my archive history from A15 which is understandable, but then he tries to tire us with the boring inaccurate details of the game, I mean can't he find a better excuse to attack me while I'm not prepaired right after he gave me his word to forgive what happend last turn if I granted his greedy wishes to *hand* over a city to him? does that sound fimiliar Thor?. Let's face it Pug and Melrose, we have a hypocrite here!, and he is also a master of propaganda. Let me now pick on what I'd like to call his Declaration of Hypocrisy.. > After becoming suspicious of Hunzo, I decided to do a background check > by reading the just published archive file of Hunzo's last game, A15. I say you make a great prosecutor, that only likes to accuse and never is interested about the truth, or even better a polititian. Notice the use of all sorts of negative adjectives he uses on me below, and how he wants to portray me as an "evil" person to serve him as tools in his mind manipulation propoganda on you two. But before I go on, you can also try reading the histories of games P17 and Q03 that I've played in, and see how I treated my allies. I had no allies in P17, but there was someone just like Thor who kept accusing me of being a liar and dishonorable just because I was getting ahead of him. he was so much like Thor is now, which by the way, he was in Thor's A17 game and I'm sure they were going at it propaganda style too! :). That player, called L'ennemi du bien, was bad mouthing me the whole time in P17, so that the other players didn't accept my alliance and he would stay ahead that way, much like Thor is doing right now to you (check it for yourselves in P17), then in Q03, I had a chance to make an ally, I treated him with honor and never attacked him even when I could have. I know those were not tournament games, but It makes no difference to me. all I'm saying is that I AM trust- worthy and the game A15 is explained in more details below. Anyways, I'm sure Thor read those games (P17 & Q03), but since he couldn't dig any dirt on me from them, he didn't mention them!. > It is a >sad tale indeed. After driving his poor opponents crazy, Hunzo managed to > make an alliance with Orange (the Athletes). An utter lie!. I did not drive anybody crazy!.. Infact, Orange *initially* sent a personal inslut as a query calling me a "git" or some aussie crap like that! :).. which I suppose you could say "I forgave but not forgot" what he did then. > As allies, Hunzo then directed >Orange to grant all sorts of little favors for the "good" of the alliance, Directed?.. I only offered deals and it's up to the warlord to accept or decline. which by the way, if Thor was so honest then he'd tell you how I gave Orange a city that I could've razed in order to gain his alliance!.. something Thor does not know anything of (giving), he is so greedy, he actually asked me to *hand* over to him a city and I refused intially because it was down right crazy, but I changed my mind just so I could satisfy his greed and hunger for profit! (true dirty politician). > which Orange willingly granted. You said it yourself: "willingly" > White left the game early and went into defensive >mode, so Orange and Hunzo were supposed to carve up white before they >turned against each other. Another lie.. I never told Orange we would share the white cities, I originally told him that he could go ahead and take all white cities!. I guess I shouldn't be surprised he got it wrong from the archive, since he is using propaganda then he should be lying!. > While telling Orange what good allies they were, I stopped communication with Orange after the previous offer!.. lies, lies, and more lies to come!.. > Hunzo marched up and took all of Orange's undefended cities and ripped him >from belly to rump before Orange even knew what hit him. You can read the >archive files yourself, and probably should. Maybe he's right that you should, because he's getting everything wrong!.. Orange left *most* of his cities undefended while I had one more city or two to take from green which he was gone too. I brought my armies in position to prepare for war against Orange, but he didn't!.. I had an overwhelming army advantage over Orange and he could've not been able to stop me from taking his cities even if I had warned him! (go also see how much army strength I had!).. besides!.. remember his initial insult about me?.. he sent that when I complained about some rule squable to the moderator about green, so he jumped in the middle and sent an attacking message which he had no business sending. So I guess you could call that a nice little revenge served for Orange!. You see Thor you have read the archive of the game, but you were not in the game and you certainly didn't see the gamefile at that time when I attacked him!.. he had no chance to stop me so much that he left the game too after realising it was useless to try to stop me. > It really gets sickening past >turn 10, when an enraged Orange is forced to endure the taunts and boasting >of Hunzo. You wanna know what's sickening?.. it's this childish dirt digging that you're doing here. I mean sure I may have been a little untrustworthy in that game. But this is a different one and you can't use it as some sort of "war crime" crap that you're probably so fimiliar with (from CNN). I could have torn you to pieces on turn 7 and put you last on this game's standings!.. I could've burned your city 62, 65 (which I gave you now), given my city 64 willingly to Pug, and taken your city 54 after pillaging it with my hero to fulfill part of my quest, KILLED your third hero with mine had I assigned him in city 31 and then taken your city 06 afterwards, then on turn 8, your city 24 would've been mine if not razed by you. And every time you would try to take a city back I'd just raze it and abandon it. Did I mention that I could've gained a total of 1455 gp. by pillaging and looting your cities?.. and *you* wanna talk about honor and misdeeds!!? But instead I decided to keep my word to you and not break it, unlike what you're doing now, yet claiming to be so moral and making me look like I'm some sort of slime!. > Pug and Melrose, I suggest you read those files so you aren't taken in >by all the hot air. Hot air, huh?.. I tell you Pug and Melrose.. he's one hypocrite full of greed bossy warlord! > If you're interested in how I behave, Not really Thor.. I *really* don't give a damn! :), cause I can see it all so clearly *here*.. you see, this is only a game, and you, I, or anybody else is free to behave in anyway they like in a *game*. And the idea you propose about punishment for past games is extremely pathetic and you're tying things in this fantasy game to things in the real world. why don't you impose sanctions on me while you're at it? :). > I was the "Avenging Angel" in game A17. Good for you! :) > You can cross-check the alias with my E-mail address lang@owt.com. Duh! > In short, Hunzo is a pathological liar. Here is propaganda at it's best, bad mouthing someone to make him look like a criminal. petty insults are for petty warlords if you ask me, just play and quit whining about me!. > During his previous battle, he >rationalizes this by saying that Warlords is a game, and thus Hunzo is only >an imaginary character, and not to be trusted. I didn't say that 'Hunzo' is not to be trusted!. I said if he seems to be untrustworthy then that doesn't mean that the real person behind 'Hunzo' is also untrustworthy, no wonder no body likes politicians, they really have a way of twisting words and truths for the purpose of giving someone a bad reputation. > Game or not, Hunzo and his kind You see what I'm saying?.. I'm some sort of criminal! > will continue to profit by telling lies, You just have told a lie and broke your word by telling me the alliance would be restored if I evacuated city 65 for you, so I did, and now *you* are the liar! in *this* game!. So now Pug and Melrose, are you going to listen to a liar? are you going to think that he can be trusted?.. I think not. > unless warlords that do not >engage in such activities routinely punish such offenders. You see fellows? he's so much into this CNN crap!.. what "routinely punish offenders" !?.. isn't this a game of offending, fighting, and conquest? is there a right or wrong way of conquest?.. in a *game* ? To prove to you that he is *untrustworthy!*, then look at what he did (on turn 5) before I even killed his giant bat, and supposedly we were allies then.. he boosted his city defences to +2 in city 06 and kept an orcish mob there just because I had a pikeman that was trying to get to the East Temple on a boat, and he was afraid that I would attack and take that city while we were supposedly still allies!. do you see the lies and hypocrisy in this "moral and just" warlord!? > I personally am lie intolerant oh yeah?.. how do you propose selling that to us through the internet? :), I mean you can claim yourself to be a saint but who's to know the truth? we're not in the real world so I really don't know how you really are (not that I would like to know), just as you don't know how I really am. I'm sure your previous alias of "Angel" was more appropriate for you. you're such a good and godly person :). > and am now decalaring war on Hunzo. that of course because you're a fool!.. below I explain it to you in details if you're slightly interested. > Pug and Melrose, I will focus my efforts on Hunzo, depending on >how willing you are to grant me some peace. And you forgot how you told me that westward is much more profitable!? You're such a one-dimentional warlord!, can't you fight more than one warlord at once? > Pug, we aren't very close to each other, but I would like to work a > peace arrangement with you until Hunzo is dead. A very simple > arrangement, I won't attack you and you don't attack me. I would suggest > that you work the same deal with Melrose if he's willing, but that's your > choice. Oh so let me get this straight, everybody is fighting me because of game A15?.. how pathetic if you ask me!. Pug, we're obviously enemies, but atleast I don't decide to fight you one time and not fight you another time because I have to fight another warlord. so atleast I didn't give you any bull so far, this Thor guy is so scared to fight two warlords at once that he has to send archive messages asking for alliances from everyone!. But if you wish to be in peace with me, then you can ask and I'll consider strongly especially if this guy Thor wants to attack me without giving me the chance to defend my cities right after he *LIED* about re-alliance and "forgiveness". > Also, I've noticed > that you could improve some of your strategies. If you want advice, I'm > very willing to give it to you when you fight Hunzo. But I won't give any > advice unless you want it, and tell me you would be interested in my > comments. Your choice. The kind Thor now gives us the etiquette of Warlords PBEM games. First he gives us this thing about punishing offenders, then now he gives us this thing about passing advice *only* if you ask for it!. I mean who is stupid or corny enough to ask some other warlord for advice about fighting another? of course no body is going to ask you, so you just give your advice if you have any!. Oh!.. that must be another one of your "Warlords Fighting Convention". And how nice for Melrose, now Melorse is gonna have peace from you and Pug! Who else is he going to fight?.. Me? :) (being so far away from him). > Melrose, I would also like to work out a peace arrangement with you until > Hunzo is dead. Oops!.. I got a little ahead of myself, you see how ridiculous he is? he just can't fight more than one warlord!. and then he wants everybody to be friends with him and enemies of his enemy!. > Once again, the same simple rules. I won't attack you and you >don't attack me. I believe that if you read the complete "transcripts" >from turn A15 that you will agree that Hunzo must die. Oh GET REAL!.. I mean you're so hung up already on this A15 game!. Melrose, didn't he just last turn suggest to me that he and I should attack westward? isn't he such a liar himself?. he can't make up his mind if he should fight you or me or what. > He cannot be anyone's >ally because he can't be trusted, and he deserves to be punished for past >misdeeds. And the honorable judge has spoken!. Will you quit looking for lies to cover up your excuse for attacking me when you just offered re-alliance?. and the only one who is allys with me is you!. You are preparing for *your* misdeed by use of propaganda to try to justify it so that your future competition *thinks* that you are so honorable and moral!, because sooner or later, you'll be fighting better warlords who won't be listening to your propaganda and then you'll have to fight more than one warlord at a time, but you're just playing "nice warlord" for now, until you get to the stage where you can back stab someone without an excuse!. your little obvious tricks don't fool me for a second!. > If he isn't punished, he will continue to profit by fooling other warlords > and could win the tournament. Something I just couldn't stand for. Now that statement above is the most pathetic one so far!. I mean what's it to you if I win the tournament or not!?. just because I won A15 (and possibly the round), doesn't mean that I'll win the tournament, or am I detecting a jealous sour warlord who *simply* can't stand seeing someone do better than him?.. And what's to say that I'll be around until the end of the tournament?. I'll probably not even go past Round C, because of many reasons! (like obtaining Deluxe and upgrading my comp.), so you are becoming very judgemental and sour because of a *game* that I played in Round A !?. > So please pathetic. >consider my offer and let me know. I can only fully focus on Hunzo if >you agree to a no attack clause. Otherwise, I will have to fight mostly >you while watching my back. In other words, he can't be trusted to keep his word. if he gets peace from you, then he'll worry about you later, but if he doesn't then he comes crawling back to our old alliance!. very dirty polititian at that as well, atleast I am honest about any dis- honor that I might have in the past or in the present like last turn. How pathetic if you ask me. Melrose has to sit in peace with you *and* Pug and get no cities or profit just so you would have your silly way of "justice" from past wars!?.. is this some sort of war crimes court? ..I tell you!.. you really have to stop watching that stuff on CNN! :). > Gentlemen (not you Hunzo), it is in all of our interests to focus on >Hunzo -- both strategically and in the interest of justice. > What sayst thou? First, I say get a life :). It is only in *YOUR* interest if you get your way now, then later you'll demolish Melrose and Pug easily. Second, I say, "Mighty" Thor, Melrose, and Pug.. If I've been behind in the standings in this game, then Thor would not bother sending this message and be so worried about me. It's not really "justice" he's concerned with, it's simply my big army and being his neighbor (and of course his own personal greed to finish well in this game and the tournament, which we all are by the way!), it's really not his sense of morality (which by the way this is *only* a game, so morality doesn't really hold in this war).. after all, he's just another hypocrite who uses propaganda to gather allies against his enemies for the disguised purpose of "Justice", which really is only his own personal interest (oh sounds so pridictable and fimiliar, right Thor?) and *nothing* else. I'm not really interested in reading Thor's previous game archives, because I like to think of every game as being a seperate world from the other ones, whether it's a tournament game or not, my main reason to play these games is to have fun *before* doing well. And if I want to do well, it's not because I want to win some cheap prizes!, but because some people enjoy winning much more than losing. I have gotten sick of trying to defend myself in every Warlords PBEM game, just because I happen to win usually (so far), and because there is some scared warlord who wants to bad mouth me every time because they just can't stand having someone do better than them for a change. Finally, To show the hypocrisy and *lies* of Thor himself!, then look how he decided to declare war on me using the excuse of A15 archives just to be so-called "truthful" *after* I left my cities undefended, otherwise he would not declare war.. he *clearly* stated last turn that he was going to continue with the peace if I left city 65 for him which I did!. Now he *conveniently* uses my Round A game as an excuse to attack me in the name of "Justice". To test your honor and truthfulness oh Mighty Thor, then I say just like I could have made you last in this game, by having attacked you on turn 7 and forced you to lose *5* cities AND killed your third fresh hero!, I instead decided to treat you honorably, admitted my mistake, and *KEPT* my word. ( oh!, remember this from your last archive message?.. >I will fly in with my heroes, in kamikazee fashion, burn your cities, >and let Melrose/Pug win the game. Neither you nor I want that to happen. >Please don't test me on this one, because I ALWAYS keep my word. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That, Pug and Melrose (and future readers!), is what will prove to you all what a "pathalogical" liar *Thor* really is, since he won't keep his word from last turn *using* the *excuse* of crap like "Justice for past misdeeds". ) Instead, Thor will attack me just when I emptied my cities based on his "offer" of forgivness and honor, Hah!.. you can see that he out of *ALL* warlords, too, can't be trusted!. Now Melrose, If you think you can trust Thor, then you are truely mistaken!, he won't stand by and let you off the hook just like that!. think about it, just like I was his ally and he said that he was going to forgive me, but he foolishly won't then your turn is coming too. The other thing is!, if you stand there in the farthest corner from me, then who are you going to attack?.. obviously Pug is a choice, but look how Thor suggests that you two be in peace just so he can gather you two against me. I mean, how are you going to gain cities that way being so far from me? just as Pug is far from him!.. On the other hand, you can pick to fight Thor since he is pretty close to you and I could be a better natural ally since I am so far away from you. anyways, and because I'm stronger than Thor since I have more armies than he does. So it would make more sense if you pick the stronger ally which is also the one who you don't need to worry about him attacking you since he's far from you, right?.. it's your choice obviously, but if you can't trust me, then you surely can't trust hypocrite Thor too!.. he's also a warlord who wants to kill his enemies, only he's not "honest" enough to show it, because he's so *scared* people will find out in future games!.. hah!. Thor, I'll be glad to go to war against you if you wish, but atleast keep your word that you promised if I was to empty city 65 for you. Atleast for your next move, deploy your armies in a defensive mode if you wish then declare war while giving me the chance to prepare, *if* you are really honerable and "lie intolerant". That is one option, the other is.. You can forget about this foolishness (like I did too last turn, only I'm keeping my word this time!), and concentrate on white again just like I've done with blue. That way we can both go about our business to win *more* cities for ourselves. Otherwise, if you wish to attack me immediatly on your next turn while I was not prepared for this treachery, then I'll show you kamikaze like you've never seen before!, I still have my 3 heroes, they will all have nice flight items to terrorize you, all my allies are intact, and will descend on you like a comet!, migrate all my armies and show you what it means to not let someone like *you* win a game!, and then truely Melorse/Pug would win the game. Hell!, I'll even give all my cities to Pug but one so that I can send *all* my armies at you and surely, you won't finish first, second, or even third!, (then Melrose will come and pick up cities easily after I weaken them up first), and nor will you make it in this tournament!.. So like you've said before neither one of us wants this to happen, would we? Go back on your decleration of war, and all will be forgiven. It's obvious by now that we don't stand each other and that we have to watch our backs from one another, but let's atleast fight honorably like I've already decided to do for *THIS* war!.. It's your choice, but I had to tell you about the *real* consequences which I would not hesitate for a second to carry out on you with *much* pleasure!. If you're interested in doing well in this tournament, then don't worry about me winning it, and instead try *your* best in doing well in it, and that will *certainly* mean not fighting me and instead fighting Melrose. If you still want to fight me because you *think* it'll be more profitable or because it's "justice", then I can *assure* you that you won't do as well as you'd like to do in this game if you go to war against me. After all!, if you think about it, then I can still finish better than you for rounds A and B, since I *clearly* finished better than you in Round A, I'll just have to make sure you finish worse than alot of others in Round B. Think about it one last time, before you attack me dishonourably. Your options are: 1) Wait for me to prepare, and I'll fight you honorably. 2) BREAK your word and I'll migrate to your land and the hell with this game and the tournament! 3) Be reasonable and fight Melrose as I fight Pug, then we'll prepare for a final and ultimate *honorable* battle at the end of the game. I'm willing to open a brand new chapter of Samurai Honour in this round if you are *really* concerned about justice and morality, and if you're willing to give me the chance to prove it. after all, you emptied your cities last turn *just* so that you could see if I was to be trusted, which I in turn, proved so and *kept* my word. If you want to pick on previous archives that I have, then I give you the two other ones that I've played in, and *showed* that I was faithful to my allies, and those games are P17 and Q03. I know they were not tournament games, which I have the feeling you've already dug those ones up too, only they didn't seem to serve your purpose for this present treachery. But like I've said before, there is a good chance that I won't be sticking around for the end rounds, so it really doesn't bother me if I lose here and take you down with me whether you think I can or not!. Lastly I leave you with a part from your last archive message from turn 6. >DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE > > Samurai Warrior, I accept your offer to continue with the >alliance. If you empty out city 65, all will be forgiven (but >not forgotten). I don't really care about the Giant Bat. However, >both of us are losing precious time with all this fooling around. >It doesn't do me much good to have an ally that can switch >sides at the drop of a hat. I have left some of my cities open to >see if you can be trusted. " What sayst thou? " -Honorable like *NEVER BEFORE* ... Hunzo!. _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Monday May 04, 1998 at 10:27 PM EDT by David Varty to all players; --------------------------------------------------------------- REPORT FOR ROUND B, GAME 11, TURN 07, SIDE 04 --------------------------------------------------------------- Ruins ----- Piglet gets one Demon at SW Demon. Special thanks go out to the lightning fast Melrose for such quick turn around. Pug and Melrose have spoken loudly with their silence. They want no part of Hot-Air Hunzo or of the Self-Righteous Thor. Can one blame them? Hunzo, it would be a foul trick indeed for me to attack on this turn, not that such considerations would deter one such as you or Loki. Thus I am taking back my rightful city, and nothing more. Because of the lack of comment from others, I will not single you out for combat. Melrose and I have much to decide on the battle field, so if you don't escalate our conflict, neither will I. However, the alliance between you and I has ended. Starting the next turn, expect to be treated as if all four of us are at war, and as if "diplomacy" (or lack there of) does not exist. It appears that such reflects the preferences of Pug and Melrose. I never liked Blood Wine anyway.
