Duke of Death _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Sunday March 01, 1998 at 04:09 PM EST by tackman@cris.com (Dave Tacker) to all players; Turn Report for Game B03, Side 2 (Yellow) - SUPERBAD I had searched far and wide for the heros of my round A army (DETAILS EXPUNGED FROM THIS TURN REPORT). For round B, I knew that I had to look no farther than my own front yard. No single entity has as much potential for mayhem and distruction than a boy scout, particularly when armed with matches and a pocket knife. Throw in axes and saws and I knew that my opponents would not stand a chance. I chose Donnie to lead my forces into battle, not only was Donnie a young and inexperienced scout (and therefore thoroughly dangerous to everybody), but he was big and clumsy as well. Donnie established our scout hall in city 02 and of course re-named it "02-Scout Hall" What else. He chose for his patrol name the "Griffin Patrol" and made a Flag with a Yellow Griffin on it. He proceeded to make up a patrol yell which cannot be repeated here. Lets just say it would probably scare most of his enemies (and friends) away. One of his first actions was, of course, to push a young scout out the window and, with the resulting fall, into the hospital - he would not have to worry about cooking for any more scouts for at least another turn. Donnie constructed a Griffin Factory with some old wire and string. Then, as Donnie was the Patrol Leader, he immediately went in search of mischief. Donnie found an old rusting shed. While smashing it apart with a big stick (what else) he encountered two elementals who wanted to join up. Since he was a scout, he proceeded to cut the tail off of one of them with his scout pocket knife. He watched it writhe in pain for awhile, then finished it off with the aid of a match and some tinder that flamed up real nice with gasoline splashed on top. Since he wore baggy pants (forget that official scout pants stuff - nobody wears those, besides, they melt when you get them near fire) the other young elemental was not discouraged and still wanted to join up. After filling out the paperwork and making sure that he knew the patrol yell, Donnie sent him off separately where they could cover more terrain and do even more damage. Donnie soon found an old abandoned shack which he proceeded to tear apart for firewood. The Ghosts which lived inside came out to see what was going on. One of the ghosts was so scared of Donnie that he immediately fled the map. (Donnie had not bathed in several days - if you had smelled him, you would have run away too!) The other Ghost was intimidated enough to join Donnie's Patrol. Meanwhile, the elemental, per Donnie's orders took City 22 and renamed it "22-Camp Goshen." He pillaged the scout factory inside for 160 gp which he hid in his pocket. He found some giant bats in the attic of one of the houses - Cool! Donnie's first camp out was a success, it had contained many of the necessary ingredients - fire, death to innocent animals, and finally, sharp implements of destruction (there had even been a few farts thown in for good measure). He couldn't wait till the next one. Here is what I propose I would like to extend to you a banner of truce for lets say 10 turns with an option to extend it later. As I sign of my good will I will reliquinish all or any rights to the White/Green border city of 08. This will allow you to counter Sun Tzu move if you wish and still let you get a key border city on your second border. I am sure you and your generals would agree that this map is better suited for a east-west battle. I would also propose that both of us keep the west temple open so both our troops can take advantage of it wonders. Confused, she had no idea what was going on. One moment she had been battling for her life over a distant sea - and in the next heartbeat she was lying in an unknown room on a cold marble slab. What she didn't know was that she had been lying dead for centuries! With the battle heat still upon her and confusion all around, she did what anyone fighting for thier life would have done. She slew the poor scout who was cowering in the corner of the room, having finally summoned her. The scout actually managed to get in a small cut past Perc's guard (why was she so stiff?). It was then she noticed something was amiss. Then she noticed the scratch on her breast... it didn't bleed? "DRUMMER!!!", Perc cried out in confusion as she fled the now empty city. She ran and ran, eventually finding a ruined temple in the mountains. Her likeness glared back at her from everywhere she looked. Carved in stone, long overgrown with weed and decay. There she was, arm in arm with Drummer, standing over fallen foes , flying with some wizard whose name she couldn't even remember and so on and so on. Aiee!! Inside the ruin she found two elementals battling it out. With a moan of despair, one fell and the other bowed low to Perc. "My Goddess" it whispered. "I cannot explain, but you must drink the blood of my fallen comrade and go further into the mountains, if you wish to remain flesh. I will go now and spread word that the Goddess has finally come." Left alone and not knowing what else to do, Perc gratefully drank the gift of life, left for her, and ventured further into the mountains. There she found another ruin also made in her honour. This time two mighty ghost were at arms. Just when one seemed to have the upper hand and was poised to deliver the final blow, he offered his own throat to the lesser being. This ghost, who had almost gone back to the hell from whence it had came, said to Perc... "Noble Lady, only the strongest of us could give you the final gift of spirit, which you will need to take back your life. And I? I Remain only to tell you your past and spread word of your coming glory." While Perc absorbed the spirit energy of the fallen, the surviving ghost went on to tell her of her great sacrifice in the distant past. The ghost told how generations of mountain folk had preserved her memories for all this time. How they had kept the secrets of long forgotten magics alive. How so much time had passed the very land had changed. How he was actually the ghost of the wizard seen with her in the statuary. When the ghost began to speak about Drummer, Perc just smiled. Drummer she could never forget! Perc knew what she had to do. She must rest now, but news was already back about the elemental's victory in "42" and soon the wait would be over. When all was ready she must summon Drummer to join her and reclaim the glories and passions of times past. To prepare for Drummer's coming she did two thing in his honour. First, she began to rename the cities that some unimaginative civil servant had numbered. She named "Shaman04" after the wizard who had preserved her glory and she named "Beat42" after Drummer's oldest friend "Beat the Bat". Although she couldn't bring "Beat" back from the past, she founded an airy in Beat42 so Drummer would find an ancestor of his old friend, when he came to join her in the living. Perc was about to sleep and let the magic of her blood/spirit meal do it's work when she was interupted by the hail of an envoy from a distant land. Diplomacy ========= To White --------- I agree... your principle is probably sound. Perhaps we should also include an option that if anyone feels they absolutely must change thier mind before turn 10, that they may do so honouably with a 2 turn declaration. I don't know, but the basic idea is good. As to the details of any diplomacy I cannot speak for Drummer, but I expect he will join me soon! Sincerely, Lady Perc ps. I'm sure that Drummer will apreciate (as I did) your gumption for offering up rights to "08" as a sign of good will. Rights that you don't really have any more than I do ;-) I appreciate it though :-) ============================================================================== ############### BATTLES ######### BATTLES ######### BATTLES ######### ============================================================================== WarBOT v1.0a Armyset: Tournament b1-4 WL version: Mac Classic Intense Combat: Off ####################################################################### ####### 1) ELEMENTAL TAKES 42 42 pillaged 175 gold ============================================================================== ******** BUILDING ************ BUILDING *********** BUILDING ********** ============================================================================== New Build of unit type Bat purchased in "Shaman04" for 160 gold New Build of unit type Bat purchased in "Beat42" for 160 gold ============================================================================== ***** ACCOUNTING ************ ACCOUNTING ********* ACCOUNTING ********* ============================================================================== Start : 13039 gold Pillage + 175 Build - 160 Build - 160 ____________________ TOTAL = 12894 ============================================================================== ******************** END-OF-TURN DECLARATIONS ************************* ============================================================================== Final Cities: 2 Gold: 12894 Income: 112 Expenses: 0 Perc's Final Experience: 6 _______________________________________________________________________________ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Tournament Game: "B03" Turn Number: 2 Gamefile Sent To: (White) Duke of Death (bill.irwin@gsc.gte.com) Date Sent: Monday March 02, 1998 at 11:05 PM EST Date Gamefile Due: Wednesday March 4, 1998 at 11:05 PM EST -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Tuesday March 03, 1998 at 01:56 AM EST by Kay Chang to all players; TURN 1 DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE FROM SUN TZU (Red) TO DONNIE (Yellow) Well it looks like the Duke of Death (White) and Drummer (Blue) have decided to join forces against us. It was the begining of the 3rd day of the Great Battle of B03, the Duke was troubled by what his scouts have reported, The Boy Scouts makeing advances from the East, where would it lead. The Duke sent word to the Earl of Evil to proceed towards the ruins and pickup the Flight item. While he proceeded to pick up the great +2 command item himself. Casper the Ghost takes one neutral city, as does an archon and a spider. The Duke yells only 3 cites this turn we got 6 last turn, what seams to be the problem. I see that things are heating up in the south, I look forward to the coming battles. Ah yes, things are beginning to get interesting. Donnie finally found a mount. Seems the Griffin factory he put together finally produced one of those flying wonders. Donnie put it to good use and found a mansion. He was trying to peek through the front windows when an Aristocrat surprised him. Thank goodness Donnie was in uniform because that guy gave him a +2 Command Beret. Amazing. Donnie thought it was so cool he wouldn't take it off, even to go to sleep. Teddy was also busy. Found himself a flying sailboat after meeting this crotchety old ex-president who couldn't remember his name. Luckily, he remembered how to sail from summer camp (See, some of the stuff you learn at camp really is useful). I told them both to come back to camp but I haven't seen hide nor hair of them. That the impact of your army may be like a grindstone dashed against an egg - this is effected by the science of weak points and strong. In all fighting, the direct method may be used for joining battle, but indirect methods will be needed in order to secure victory. Indirect tactics, efficiently applied, are inexhausible as Heaven and Earth, unending as the flow of rivers and streams; like the sun and moon, they end but to begin anew; like the four seasons, they pass away to return once more. There are not more than five musical notes, yet the combinations of these five give rise to more melodies than can ever be heard. There are not more than five primary colors (blue, yellow, red, white, and black), yet in combination they produce more hues than can ever been seen. There are not more than five cardinal tastes (sour, acrid, salt, sweet, bitter), yet combinations of them yield more flavors than can ever be tasted. In battle, there are not more than two methods of attack - the direct and the indirect; yet these two in combination give rise to an endless series of maneuvers. The direct and the indirect lead on to each other in turn. It is like moving in a circle - you never come to an end. Who can exhaust the possibilities of their combination? _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Thursday March 19, 1998 at 11:03 PM EST by Verdon Vaillancourt to all players; ============================================================================== REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND B, GAME B03, TURN 3, SIDE 4 ============================================================================== Drummer had had better days, but he had had much worse. Both he and Perc had found ancient magics searching the ruins which abound in this age. He had found flight and Perc had found leadership. The cloud on his day was the discovery of a crime. If the two of us can keep our enemies out of the center, we will be that much better off. Unfortunately, your elemental will either have to retreat to the safety of 53-Trading Post, stack with the pikeman from C. Mirimichi, or turn into a navy with the spider, otherwise that pesky blessed white elemental will nail him. The third option seems bad because it leaves 53-Trading Post vulnerable to an "elemental razing". re Drummer's words of frustration: Donnie... of all of us, you should know the most about the dangers of playing with fire! Don't be lulled by Red's smooth words. You really should keep an eye on your southern borders. Red is by no means sitting on his laurels there either. Do not let Drummer's bitterness cloud good relations between our two mighty countries.... Notice that my spider production in Ebinissia 31 is vectored AWAY from our border TOWARDS my campaign against the "nefarious" Drummer down south. I intend to continue to vector production of cities on our shared borders towards our enemies. I hope you do the same, so as to allow our countries to concentrate resources against the common enemy and thereby succeed to advance to the next round together. Analysis of the complicated terrain of this map has indicated to me that a score of 50% is going to be a good score this round and I think that both of us should be able to approach this if we play smart and coordinate our efforts. One final piece of advice... it would probably be wise to convert some of your vacation time into timeouts since you currently have zero timeouts left. _______________________________________________________________________________ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Tournament Game: "B03" Turn Number: 4 Gamefile Sent To: (Red) Sun Tzu (kchang@u.washington.edu) Date Sent: Tuesday March 24, 1998 at 12:18 AM EST Date Gamefile Due: Thursday March 26, 1998 at 12:18 AM EST (In GMT-0800: Wednesday March 25, 1998 at 9:18 PM) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Tuesday March 24, 1998 at 12:18 AM EST by tackman@cris.com (Dave Tacker) to all players; Turn Report for B03, Turn 04,Side 02 YELLOW - SUPERBAD ====================================================== Ah the boys are at it again. He's wrong... all you have to do is attack the orcish mob that he placed in the way with a SINGLE spider and kill it. Then group the remaining two spiders with your orcish mob from 21-C. Chawanake and you'll be able to take City 05. Whether or not you choose to raze it is up to you. I think you should be able to hold the city, especially if you fortify it up to defense 2. It's nice of the Duke to build a heavy inf in the city for you. >To Red > >It looks like we will/maybe? share a common border much sooner that I >had thought, you forced me to move some armies into a positions I did >not want to, but since Blue could not stop your advance into the center >I thought I would at least give you something to think about. I plan to take center cities 63 and 66 this turn, razing 63 to keep it from Blue's hands. Next turn I will raze City 65 to keep it from White's hands. The only way the Duke of Death can prevent me from doing this is by moving BOTH his elemental and ghost there next turn, effectively abandoning City 61. Thus if you want to keep your enemy from getting more of a foothold in the center, make sure you take City 62 with your ghost and bat, which frees up your elemental, spider navy, and archon so that you can place them in striking position of City 61. Then if White decides to take City 65, he loses City 61 to you. Make sure when you do so that you place your forces in a safe place from an ambush. >To Blue > >Ouch !, It looks like that Red Demon will take your corner city, I moved >some troops into position to try to slow down Red but not really sure if >it will do any good. I had calculated that one out more than a turn ago. Can't believe he didn't see it though - and he gifted me with Heavy Infantry no less. You have to give the Duke a hand, he is quite the giving person (you never would have known it from the name). Couldn't figure out how to put my Elemental, Spider and Archon in striking position of 61 without losing them (his Archon has the advantage of the road and can therefore outdistance mine). Also, he set himself up to blitz through 65 and into 62 if I left it open. I resigned myself to fortifying City 62. He'll just have to use his Ghost and Elemental as a fortifying force for a while which should nullify their usefulness for a couple of turns. I can think of several ways to exploit that. Also, as he has gone south with his Elemental and the Duke himself has headed north I have the possibility to grab the temple from him. It will be close and I will have to play my cards right to make it work. We'll just have to wait and see. Good luck storming the center. -SUPERBAD. Actually the spider in the boat by the temple was there to stop Red from holding the city of 63, I think you would agree that it would be better for US if the city was razed as opposed to being in Red's hand. The other spider in the west by my empty city of 11 was there to move to the east, is was faster than going over land. Now that I think about it I should have said something to you about it, since the spider is more than likely in range of your city of 08. But I thought since I was vectoring my troops away from our border (as I see you are as well) and I left my city empty I figured it was no big deal. I am sorry if I caused you to keep your Ghost in the city, if you were worried or had a question you can just send a message and I could answer your questions. I generally will hold any comment I have until after Red moves. I plan on razing the center city of 65 this turn since I can not hold it against Red. You are 100% correct about who the enemy is, right now Red has the advantage over all 3 of us. I think your comments about the Red hero is dead on. He is going to pillage the last corner middle city, but after that where is he going to go ? He has no flight item so he can only move over land and once he takes the last corner city, Yellow will look awful tempting. It will be atleast a 2-3 days march to the nearest Blue city, a 2 day march to my city, but I will be pouring spiders in there like there's no tomorrow, plus The Duke himself will be arriving in the center in another 2 turns. All I can say to Yellow is watch your back. Red likes to give advice just be careful to which advice is good for you and what advice is good for him. Message to all, I will be taking my turn tonight, I want to keep the pace up so I can take my turn 7 before I leave on my business trip next Tuesday (I would hate to see the game sit for 4 days wile I travel). Looks like there is a massive buildup of both white and yellow forces around 53-Trading Post... I wish you luck in your struggle against the Evil Duke of Death. In order to prevent any misunderstandings between our two nations I'd like to respond to the frantic propaganda from our White and Blue enemies. Of course they would like to turn the two of us against each other; by causing us two to become suspicious of each other and divert forces away from the "true" front, they would be able to succeed in conquering us. Let me reassure you that as long as the White and Blue alliance stays ironclad as it is against us, there is absolutely NO incentive for me to do anything to jeopardize our friendship... whatever short-term gain could be achieved would be FAR outweighed by each of us being individually overwhelmed by the White-Blue alliance. Both of us will be using the East Temple in the following turns and the concentration of forces around that temple may possibly lead to suspicions on both our parts. Currently, Kahlan is heading toward the temple to receive a blessing before visiting the SE Demon. She is NOT heading north to sack 54Pilot2Bombard as White and Blue seem to be implying in their desperate messages. After visiting the demon, she will go to the SE Worm, and then join Richard to smash the Blue nation. I would actually like to comment that I doubt any of us 4 will succeed in completing a quest since it is so easy to raze a city before it is sacked by an enemy hero. Thus, White's fears are actually not true fears but rather misinformation. Anyways, it seems to me that you are planning to have your third hero arrive in 54Pilot2Bombard to join with the bat and obtain the NE Demon. Undoubtedly, your hero would then like to go down south to the East Temple to be blessed. To keep things between us two open and without suspicions, I have planned my succeeding moves in a manner so that any forces going to the East Temple do not have enough movement points to get to 54Pilot2Bombard in one turn. I hope you do the same regarding Tanimura 55. I have also planned things so that I would have no more than one Hero heading towards the East Temple at one time to minimize the concentration of power on our border. As long as the two of us keep our communication lines open, we should be able to concentrate our efforts on the true enemy, and both succeed to the next round. I will probably be able to subdue Blue before you are able to subdue White. Thus, I am actually planning an assault on the White cities of 51 and 61. That should keep at least one of the White heroes off your back. Combined >with that Hero that he is vectoring to and the elemental it could be bad news. DARN IT !!!! Despite both my and your forewarning, that darned Duke of Death was able to amass an attack force sufficient to take Wizards Keep on Turn 9. All I needed was one more turn and Wizards Keep would have been impregnable. Unfortunately, I expected your assault up north to keep his Devil up there. If not for that nasty White Devil, Kahlan would have been sufficient to defend the keep, but alas that is not so...... Thus I have razed the city to keep it from the foul clutches of the Duke. Anyways, the mistake I made early on in the game was to let my own Devil linger too far down in the South where no action was taking place... It needed to be in the center of the action, and now in its belated rush, did not quite make it far enough to rescue Wizard's Keep. I see that your Devil is in the same situation up North. It is not really serving any purpose in 21-C.Chawanake, and also needs to go to the center where it can be useful. Another small tactical point is that you should have kept the flightless devil with your flying hero, which allows you to have a more mobile flying archon as your roaming defensive unit. The other weakness that both of our nations currently face is the fact that we made the early choice to not go for the eastern flight items. We now are "wasting" a hero to pick that essential item up and thus really only have two heroes fighting on the frontlines. Once we get the item, both of our heroes need to rush back west as fast as possible. It looks like the Duke has committed himself, a Demon and a Devil towards a foray on my nation. That means he has no demon left to use against you. You should take advantage of this while you can and utilize your hv cavalry, minotaur assault navies, and giant worm to good use while your window of opportunity still exists (and I doubt it will remain open for very long). Note that their special +2 bonuses make them as powerful as the remaining two White heroes that are pitted against you since all of the command items are with the Duke. To maximize your advantage, I would advise you to rush your Demon to your western frontline. You are wasting valuable time blessing it at the East Temple, since it is going to be the top item of any stack and its individual strength will thus not be utilized. Anyways, it looks like the Duke is going to be a crafty and formidable enemy for the BOTH of us. Luckily, I have been able to outmaneuver the Blue nation this turn and expect to steal a giant worm from right under Perc's nose. I wish you luck in your continuing efforts to hold back the White evil and will try to keep the Duke occupied enough against me to allow you to sneak into his backyard and strike deep into his territory. MESSAGE TO DUKE OF DEATH (White) I wish to congratulate you on your outmaneuvering me with regards to the Wizards's Keep... sorry you will not enjoy the fruits of your labor. That nasty Duke packs quite a punch.... I tried stacking everything available in the Keep and it still falls. I wonder though if you would have sacrificed BOTH your demon and devil in the endeavor. I guess that will be something I will wonder about for the rest of the game because I really did not want to give up that city... oh well. Now I can also take your middle city I do not know the name off hand, it has a Blessed Ghost and 5 spiders, if I attack with the Duke and a Demon and a Griffin I will only ;lose a Griffin. Now I will lose a Giant worm and Archon if I attack and Kill Teddy, which I am prepared to do, but If I do that then I fear you and I will both become 2nd tier players and that will vault Red it to a very very strong position. I will not attack either you or your city if you agree to join in a three way attack against Red who will soon have 3 flying hero groups, and all of us will be in danger. I know Red will counter with other words advice, but it is proof, if you reread Red last posting about how the tide will be tuning in my favor from Red; >You should take advantage of this while you can and utilize your hv cavalry, minotaur assault >navies, and giant worm to good use while your window of opportunity still exists (and I doubt it will >remain open for very long). Red is a very strong opponent and saw the same thing I did, now if I Kill your hero, take your middle city you will be at a disadvantage, plus your other hero is trapped way up north, you know as well as I do that he will never be a factor, he can not proceed east I have the city too well guarded, and he can not escape by flying my Pegasus/Bat will hunt him down, plus I can send additional griffins to help. Either way that hero is trapped down there for a while. If you agree to join in attacking Red I will open the North temple you can get blessed/quest and move your forces north, your hero down south can quickly move north along the rivers, then the 3 of us can get as many red cites as possible. Not quite - I see that you stuck the Archon in there - He can't quite reach, also, by my count it is 6 Spiders that can reach that stack, not 11. Yes, you can take the stack, but in so doing you will gut your army and render unto me the temple as well as the initiative for the battle that will follow. Is this a price you are willing to pay? This is a question that I thought would best be answered by observing your actions this turn. Lets see what you decide. >Now I can also take your middle city I do not know the name off hand, it has >a Blessed Ghost and 5 spiders, if I attack with the Duke and a Demon and a >Griffin I will only ;lose a Griffin. Ahh! This you can also do if you play your cards right. Will you take the bait though? If you do, you may find that your Demon will not be long for this world. You will also find that you will have to weaken your position in the area of the Temple in order to do so safely. >Now I will lose a Giant worm and Archon if I attack and Kill Teddy, which I >am prepared to do, but If I do that then I fear you and I will both become >2nd tier players and that will vault Red it to a very very strong position. No, you will lose a giant worm, a Ghost, a Pegasus, Two Griffins, a Slew of Spiders, and - THE TEMPLE (and you may just lose a Hero or two yourself in order to pull it off). Think long and hard about this one. Are you willing to lose the game in order to take out that stack? >I will not attack either you or your city if you agree to join in a three >way attack against Red who will soon have 3 flying hero groups, and all of >us will be in danger. Currently, Red is my Ally? I see no guarantees from you that you would prove as faithful as he has been. In fact, I have been attacked by you from the word go! >I know Red will counter with other words advice, but it is proof, if you >reread Red last posting about how the tide will be tuning in my favor from >Red; >You should take advantage of this while you can and utilize your hv >cavalry, minotaur assault >navies, and giant worm to good use while your >window of opportunity still exists (and I doubt it will >remain open for >very long). >Red is a very strong opponent and saw the same thing I did, now if I Kill >your hero, take your middle city you will be at a disadvantage, plus your >other hero is trapped way up north, you know as well as I do that he will >never be a factor, he can not proceed east I have the city too well guarded, >and he can not escape by flying my Pegasus/Bat will hunt him down, plus I >can send additional griffins to help. Also, why would my Hero in the south move away from the front lines? I find your logic somewhat confusing and I am reticent to take up with a new ally who does not think things through before taking action. Red has been faithful thus far. I am less than enthused by your motivations and you have thus far offered me nothing more than a promise not to make an attack that will cripple you. If you wish to turn me, your logic will have to be much more convincing and your offer will have to be much more sweet. Finally, I am less than eager to join an alliance with an ally who would have to chew through my cities before he could get at the cities of my enemy. Strategically, it simply does not make sense. Not to mention the fact that Red is much stronger than I along our mutual border. It would be suicide. No, I will not betray my ally. Do your worst but know that in doing so, your victory may turn out to be but the very first step on the path to your defeat. I'd suggest doing as I did to Wizard's Keep 66 and razing it to keep it out of evil White hands as well as preventing him from sacking for gold. After razing the city, its six remaining troops can jump off the bridge to take a boat back to 21-C.Chawanake. White will have to waste converting at least five troops into navies if he is going to take those troops down (which he will since if he doesn't Eastgate - 14 would be at jeopardy from a navy strike. The Devil in 21-C.Chawanake and the Giant Worm in 53-Trading Post need to switch positions. The Devil is doing ABSOLUTELY no good up north since there are no White heroes to cancel up north, while that +2 bonus of the Giant Worm is going to be ESSENTIAL in defending 21-C.Chawanake from the White attack group approaching. (You'll probably need to fly some of your griffins in for defense as well to fend off the White invasion force.) Thus, you should send the Devil south and the Giant Worm north through the swampland around the NE Devil ruin to reach their respective locations. Do NOT take Bee - 52, it's a trap designed to take down either Teddy or his archon escort. White has the Bad Baron and the Earl of Evil waiting with Archon to ambush you if you try that. He has quite intelligently placed a navy group just north of his flying heroes, which allows him to have greater range than you. Unfortunately, you did not place a navy near Teddy so his flying troops could utilize a boat to glide quickly over the water (using 1 mvmt per square instead of 2). You need to do this too, in order to maximize the range of your hero. Keep in mind that your hv cavalry and pikemen enjoy the +2 strength bonuses while they are flying over water so you actually have the advantage of strength when you are over water. You now need to utilize the advantage in movement as well, which you have not done. I would suggest turning your minotaur into a navy. This allows it to move quickly through the water as either a +2 strike force and/or allows it to defend two cities at once... for example, if you had placed a minotaur navy between 21-C.Chawanake and 53-Trading Post, you would have been able to quickly shuttle it to either city if one was threatened. Likewise, a minotaur navy would have allowed you to pounce on Bee - 52. That minotaur is quite a force as long as White's Demon stays down south, and like I said gives as much a bonus as either of two White heroes up north. If you do form the minotaur into a navy, be sure to group it with your spider navies to keep it from being ambushed by a flying White pegasus or griffin. The Duke's next objective will be 52Pilot2Bombard... he is well on the way to completing his Quest and you MUST NOT let him do that. BOT
