This morning, that would bring many others like it, gave no advanced clues has to what is about to unfold. The were brought out of stasis just a couple of hours before dawn. Humanity would finally have the long sought proof of extra terrestrial life. It is just a bit too bad that men stopped looking for some time. Their leader, Mar-ack, descended to earth alone, confident that men would be peaceful. Upon arriving, what he found was not what he expected. The northwestern group of men decided to unite against the UN. But at the same time, Mar-ack arrived and was caught in the cross fire. He had no choice but take the city 01. Immediately, he renamed it Juct-tha 01 in honor of the home world's capital. He also came to a somber decision, grey men would pay for this. He immediately call for reinforcements. Star-tac, who stayed on the mother ship, would call the home world for more reinforcements before coming down to earth himself. The reinforcement would take some time to arrive. Star-tac will arrive on earth very shorthly. Mar-ack heard, by questioning the locals, that strange creatures roam the land. If one can tame those creatures, they will obey their master to death. He set out to find and conquer those creatures. Mar-ack found two such strange beasts, ordering them to go and conquer the grey men. Their first conquest was city 12, renamed Ker-sak 12 in honnor of a long lost uncle of Mar-ack Finally, men was about to begin the training of formidable allies. They uncovered spells to summon unearthly creatures and manuals on different forms of combat. They did not have time, before Mar-ack arrival, to begin the training. But, Mar-ack would take that knowledge and make it his own. Griffins and wolfriders would do, for now. And thus began the darkest of hours. This war would last for too long and leaves deep scar in the fabric itself of human kind. Surveying the spacious, 100 year-old banquet hall, he began, "Ladies and Gentlmen, terrible news has reached us regarding the ruffians that used to live in the outskirts of our wonderful state. They have began to expand their territory and are, at this moment, in possesion of the mansion belonging to the late Jonathan P. Snootfloot. If left un-countered, these unshaven, uncouth hordes will be at the doorstep of our country club, engaging in their barbaric ways in land reserved for the upper-class and privileged. We will be surrounded by stock car races, spitting contests, and our beautiful gardens will be littered with the carcasses of old cars. We must elect a new president that will lead our corporate minions against these uncouth mobs. A powerful, conniving man that won't be afraid to break the rules or crush the classes beneath us. We are the rich, the powerful, the cultured. We are the creme de la creme of society. We must have a leader that will put these unrefined slobs back in their place. Who shall it be?" The ex-president sat down, wiping the sweat of his brow. A murmur rose among the members as they gossiped as to who the new president might be. Then, as if on queue, a gradual hush fell over the hall as each member spotted a man standing near the back of the hall. He was dressed like the power hungry corporate giant that he was. In a booming voice he outlined his plan for the defence of the mansions. "Mr. ex-president, you have spoken elequontly of the dilemma that is before us. My name is Seymour J. Snodworth, and I am prepared to take on the task that the ex-president has set before us. I have knowledge, of which I can't describe at the moment, that will allow us to gain the aid of mighty allies, conjure up mighty armies to defend our estates, and enable us to send those armies soaring through the skies. We will not let these obscene, ill-mannered pigs take what we have earned. We will be victorious!" Tha banquet hall erupted in cheering, and Snodworth was voted unanimously into the positon of president. After the banquet, Snodworth, and the rest of the board of directors retired to the cigar room. "How do you plan to go about the first day of the assault," inquired the treasurer, Arthur Q. Moneybags. "First," replied Snodworth, "we should engage the aid of my son, Seymour J. Snodwirth III. He is a Harvard grad and ahould fill the spot of battlefield leader quite well. He is quite capable of engaging the help of various foul creatures that he has come in to contact with in the past. Also, we should send a telegram to the lands to the west of us." "Do you mean those preposterous looking half-breeds that wear the same clothing and speak exotic langauages," outbursted the scretary. "Watch your tongue," scolded Snodworth. "Word has it that they are mighty warriors who are in possesion of great instruments of war, and posses technology superior to ours. There is rumor that they have weapons that can fire light beams, and can travel the stars and engage the help of alien beings." "Draft up a message along these lines," said Snodworth: My humblest greetings to the powerful Captain Picard, The forces to the North have apparently engaged in talks that will facilitate the alliance of their lands. The country club would like to offer you the possesion of either city #07 or the strategic #66, whichever you would like in return for a ceace-fire up to Turn 10. Birnbaum" to all players; Captain Picard's Log, Stardate 0001.4 The crew of the Enterprise are quickly recovering from the shock of the trip through the unstable wormhole. The long range sensors are still offline, but the short range sensors show a truly strange environment. Lieutenant Data has calculated that we have been thrown thousands of light years off our course, into a completely unchartered section of the galaxy. This time, we don't have "Q" to blame, just the sudden appearance of a wormhole in front of us. We were unable to avoid entering it, the inertial dampeners were offline for a few minutes, causing most of the crew to be thrown around their cabins. There have been a few injuries, but nothing Doctor Crusher can't handle. I have resigned myself to explore this region, since knowledge of this area will be invaluable to the Federation when we return. We were lucky to have gotten word before we encountered the wormhole of the starship Voyager, who also seemed to have encountered the same predicament. They relayed most of their data through an ancient communications array. I have ordered our resident scientists to analyse the data to see what we ourselves will encounter. One interesting occurance was that only seconds after we appeared in this part of the galaxy, we were hailed by an alien civilization. Since my crew was mostly unconcious, the message was stored in a buffer. I have read this message, offering an alliance against some other foes in this sector. I have learned in my many years in Starfleet not to jump to making alliances, especially when in an environment so new. It seems that the three other civilizations here are also new to the region, and making hasty agreements to ally when we are many many light years apart seems quite premature. The Federation has never descriminated against any race unless they are a clear and present danger to the Federation itself. To take a cue from Voyager, we will commence to explore our surroundings, spread our wings if you will, begin gathering long range data on the rest of this quadrant, and on the other races here. Only then will I be comfortable seeking alliances, deals, etc. Since it seems we will be here for a while, it will be to our advantage to seek ways to provide us with supplies, energy, and the means to build ships and or settlements, so alliances with the natives are certainly not out of the question. I have ordered Liutenant Worf to open a hailing frequency to the race we were contacted by, they call themselves the "High Society", announcing that making alliances at this early stage is premature, though I am in no way against any alliance with any race. The Federation, if and when they make an alliance, will stick to their word, but the Federation does not enter in treaties until everything is known. My first order of business towards our immediate mission to expand our knowledge of this quadrant is to order the exploration of a nearby planet. The Vulcan members of our crew were reminded of their home planet when they saw it and so it was renamed Vulcan (42). The planet which we emerged near we have begun to call Earth (04), the birthplace of the Federation, and in a way, Earth in this quadrant is the birthplace of the Federation's influence in this quadrant. The crew are understandably trepidatious of our new situation, and I have ordered the bridge crew to keep everyone informed of our progress. Data has suggested, and I have agreed, to stage a performance of Hamlet tonight. I look forward to relaxing to a bit of familiar Shakespere before I tackle the unfamiliar. He was always the fighting one. He was prepared to stay up all night to convince a devil to come with him in Ker-sak 12 but it took him only 7 tries [yes!!!!!!]. :-) Just before his departure, he intercepted three interesting communications. The first from the hillbillies. Actually, this communication was for them but Mar-ack did not have to proper equipment to hear it. Anyway, the yellow men message was about peace for sometime. Star-Tac did not completely trust the yellow men but a non-aggression pact with the Hillbillies could serve them well. So, he sent back a message to yellow saying that the White Empire agrees to a non-aggression pact with Yellow and accepts the gift of city 05. In return, the White Empire promises to vector away any dangerous production of that city, after a small defensive force has been put in place. [non-aggression between yellow and white until turn 10] The second message was from a tribe called the High Society. They seemed a bit pompous to Star-Tac's taste. They were assuming talks about an alliance between White and Yellow. Star-Tac was not aware of such discussions. Maybe Mar-Ack would know. The third message was from a strange race, resembling in every aspects the people bellow but far more advanced. If not for this communication, Star-Tac would not have noticed their ship entering this region of space. We will have to watch them closely, he thought to himself. Star-Tac thus left the ship, bringing proper communication equipment with him. Mar-ack had to get back to the front line. He did not expect to find such strange creatures so far north west of Juct-tha 01. He was also glad that Star-Tac was here. He ordered the creatures to continue the fight on gray men. When Star-Tac told him of the hillbillies' offer, Mar-ack agreed with Star-tac's decision and passed the message on to all white armies: Yellow cities and armies are not to be touched until further notice. But the focus now stayed on the gray men, four cities were capture and renamed after the four wise men of war. They are Kur-chu 13, Mel-ga 17, Arr-arr 16 and Dor-che 15. All was going well for the White Empire. Or was it? Snodworth II stepped out and surveyed his estate. He enjoyed the secludedness of his mansion, surrounded by forests and hills, and felt at peace here. Yet, he had a sense of uneasiness as the butler held open the the huge duoble doors that served as the entranceway. As Snodworth entered his library and began to read the morning's mail, his aide approached him. "The lady of the house wishes to speak with you, sir," began the aide. "She is upstairs in her sitting room." "Is she angry?" asked Snodworth. "Quite," replied the aide. "She has heard rumors that you sent your son off into battle without consulting her." "But that was what she wanted, I did everything according to plan!", exclaimed Snodworth. "Yes, but you know how she is..." offered the aide as he poured a scotch for Snodworth. "Hhmph," replied Snodworth as he sippeded the drink and started up the stairs. When he reached her sitting room, he stopped at the door and put his ear up to it to make sure he wouldn't interrupt her. He opened the door, and saw Lady Snodworth at her desk, penning a letter to her sister. She looked up as he entered and her face immediately scrunched up into that look that Snodworth hated so much. "What were you doing sending my son off to war so soon," she said. "I thought it was what we agreed on," replied Snodworth. "Eventually," responded Lady Snodworth, "but you were supposed to inform me immediately off the change in power so I could set off to gather support for our campaign against those barabric, un-cultured slobs." "Sorry, I thought it best that he get started immediately," said Snodworth as he downed the rest off the scotch. Lady Snodoworth leaned back in her chair, "Next Time, consult me first on all decisions-and stop with all of this drinking, this is not the time." Snodworth nodded and starred out the window at the pond to the north of the mansion. He wished he could get back to the office... Lady Snodworth interupted his thoughts, "Has the rest of the plan been carried out?" she asked. "Yes," he replied. "The message to the Star Travellers has been sent, and Seymour has enagaged the help of the allies to the south. Moneybags and Rothgrass have both offered us their estates to be used as staging grounds for attacks, and the rest of the others will no doubt soon follow. The Snodworth Towers are also being used, as well as my Gentlemen's Club." "Good," she said, "I shall set out immediately to gather further support, you will be in charge of the Country Club while I am in the field. Carry out the rest of today's plan and do not disappoint." Their anxiety has subsided somewhat, but I can still feel the tension in the ship, and it is still high. We know more about this quadrant of space, though there are many mysteries we must uncover. We were helped out today by the arrival of another starship from the same wormhole. Unfortunately, the crew of this starship weren't so lucky. As far as Geordi has determined, as with us, this starship also lost control of their inertial dampeners, but they experienced expeonentially more turbulence than we. The ship managed ok, but many of the other starship's crew were killed, including the captain. I have decided to give the ship to Lietenant Data to command. He has refused to accept the position of captain, and so I will continue to refer to him as Lietenant. The addition of another starship is a welcome addition, it should help us perform our tasks much better. As the first order of business, I ordered Data to explore only locally while the ship was repaired. Data, who is always thorough, managed to discover two ancient alien ruins, and after careful exploration revealed new technology when enabled us to create two smaller, though still powerful ships. These shipos should aid us further in our mission, and I am proud of Data's handling of the situation. We have explored two more planets and Counsellor Troi and Lieutenant Worf have each been granted the privalege of naming them. Troi named the first planet Betazed (43) after her planet of birth. Worf, in typical Klingon fashion, named his planet Sto-Vo-Kor (45) after the mythical place where all Klingon warriors go after death or something. These new planets have slightly less resources than others we have explored, but I ordered the production of new colonies on these planets. I expect many helpful colonists from these fruitful planets. As for the existence of the three other races in this quadrant, we have not seen them yet, though we have been monitoring much communication traffic, of which only a little can we understand. It seems that like us they are explotring their surroundings. Perhaps in a while we will encounter them. In total, our mission objectives are being accomplished, and I look forward to a more relaxing time when all we are doing is pure exploration. It is what the Federation is all about. I look forward to establishing a permanent Federation presence in this quadrant. Star-Tac did not want to offend the other nation of star travelers to the south. He ordered his armies to stop the fight against the gray men at the city 08. It will be the star travelers' decision to choose between war or peace. Kur-chu also believed that peace is often underrated. That is why Star-Tac was glad that the hillbillies offered a non-aggression pact. That should ease the western frontier. While Star-Tac was going for a flight item, it came to Mur-Ack's attention that there were four places where creatures of all kinds can go and grow in strength. The decision to send all armies to those places was quickly reach. Mur-Ack was worried that their neighbors might feel threaten by the path their armies would take. He wished he had a way to let everyone know that they should not feel threaten as they only wish to visit the places he heard about. So far, Mur-Ack had no wish to arm anyone else but the gray men. The battles went well as four other cities were captured and renamed after Star-Tac and Mur-ack's parents. Both of them wished they could send a message back home but it would have to wait a little while longer. I reckon I'll just keep mum and maybe they'll take me for the strong silent type. These voices, they whisper real mysterious like, and sometimes I can't git the gist of what they say. Other times they come through loud a clear as a hound dog in heat. They tell me this much...that I'm sharing this world with others and that I should be polite about it all. I reckon that's jest fine with me. This ol' world is plenty big enough for us all. The voices *do* say there are parts that rightfully belong to us...that is all cities in our neck of the woods. That include a dilapidated city now called 21 just in case WHITE gets any funny ideas, which I'm sure he won't. Just a reminder that we shore 'nuff recognize the city 05 as yours, but that we will not be real hospitable if your forces cross the line, if'n you know what I mean. We aim to stick by our non-aggression pact, you can bet your bottom dollar of that! Meanwhile our RED neighbours to the south look to be our friends as well. We jest want them to know they we respect the hell out of the natural boundaries that exist between us. By that I mean to say we will not venture south of the city now called 06. We figger on taking 06 as an outpost, but we won't go past this city...at least fer now. We don't reckon we know who's nice and who is not in this crazy weird world we're in. And we're not about to start drawing no battle lines just yet! Those cities in the center of the world .... well we figger 62 is by rights ours to keep, but the two cities in the center are pretty much up fer grabs. We don't know who'll get there first, but I reckon whover does will have to eventually play king of the hill, if 'n you know what I mean. Finally, the voices definitely tell me that no one, and I mean NO ONE, owns the temples. I don't reckon anybody should block access to them, at least the ones in my neck of the woods....that would be the NORTH and EAST temples. I swear by my granddaddy's grave that we won't block access to these temples, at least as long as there is peace in our great land. That's it fer now folks! I reckon we'll keep on exploring and see what we find. -The Hillbillies _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Friday March 13, 1998 at 10:54 PM EST by The Upper Class to all players; Seymour J. "As well as could be expected, considering," replied Snodworth. "Very good sir," said the aide as he placed two telegrams on Snodworth's desk. "These arrived this morning, one from the son of the late Jonathan P. Snootfloot, and the other from William Caruthers. Both involve offering their estates as training and staging grounds for our armies. The letter from Caruthers was especially notable as he has heard rumors that the Hillbillies have advanced further south than we have expected." "Perhaps you didn't expect it, but I did, we are going according to schedule, do not worry." "Yes sir," said the aide as he stared out the window muttering something about "...you or your wife...." "Get a messenger to carry a telegram to Lady Snodworth detailing the messages from Snootfloot and Caruthers as well as young Seymour's visit to the ancient ruin. Our fastest ships have already reached quite far and we are receiving many data streams of observations from all over. Another 4 planets were explored, with the possibility of more to come. However, we have also detected the swift exapnsion of the other races in this quadrant, and we expect soon to be in a position to encounter them. In fact, the Entreprise itself has detected the presence of a High Society fast ship. Lightly armored, the ship is fast and could be in the position to attack one of our newly formed outposts, should they so desire. I have decided to leave the outpost undefended as a show of non-agression, though I have contingency plans in the works and should the attack occur, we would easily destroy the ship, their only powerful ship in the area. I still believe that it is too early to tell how things will work out in the area, but the Federation would have no trouble coexisting with other empires, as it has done with the Klingons and the Cardassians in the Alpha Quadrant. As for another corner of the area of space we have been exploring, we are soon to encounter the group calling themselves "The Wall", a curious translation of their chirpy speech. They have offered to cease expansion after the planet 08, which, since the Federation has not explored this planet, fine with me. Although again, the Federation does not hastily enter agreements, though this one is satisfactory as a quick verbal agreement. In any rate, the Federation influence in this sector is growing and I am satisfied with our progress. On a different front, I myself could let Data be the only one who enjoys the pleasures of archeology. Is seems this entire sector is virtually littered with the remains of an ancient, though highly advanced civilization. After all these years, their technology seems quite intact, even if the beings themselves have dissapeared. I led the Enterprise to one these cashes of technology and we were able to salvage a remarkable ship. After careful analysis, we found that this should could be piloted remotely, not requiring a single being to be in it. Its speed is remarkable, and we immediately started to use it towards our exploration mission. There is not much else to report, though I suspect the next few days should be interesting... Mar-Ack was having all the fun so far, exploring his third ruin. Star-Tac decided to name the two recently annexed cities Iba-Chi and Del-Ly after the two best cooks from the home world. And because he was bored, he decided to start pondering on a dilemma that reached far before the last war on Juct-Tha. Arr-Arr and Dor-Che, two of the four wise men of war, had conflicting views regarding army strength. Arr-Arr believed that an army needed a strong central leader that can boost the morale of his troops. Dor-Che thought that more equal strength leaders could benefit an army by being capable to strike strong on more fronts. Star-Tac would have to discuss this with Mar-Ack soon as they have to decide on a long term plan. Birnbaum" to all players; Captain Picard's Log Stardate 0004.4 Our exploration of the quadrant has been proceeding, though at a slower pace than our initial explosion of discovery. We explored only one new system, and without the presence of a habitable planet, we decided to establish a space station there. In keeping with the numbering system in the Alpha Quadrant, we choose the number 44, the next number in line for the Federation's Starbases. Starbase 44 was opened quickly, with little ceremony, but many crew members expressed their delight at still being in space, but being stationarey. They should be a great team. Liutenant Data discovered an alien artifact in his recent explorations, and he is still researching its abilities. I am confident that he can harness the alien technology for the Federation. The Enterprise continued on its archeological expidition and visited what can only be described as an alien temple. This wondrous site of technology was huge and we spend a long time deciphering the ancient glyphs. It seems there are one four such sites in the alien quadrant, and they acted as this civilization's central four-pronged hub, which sustained all life. Inside the ring formed by this hub seem to be several huge planets, which I believe to be the home worlds of the now-extinct race. Searching the temple, though, gave the entire crew of the Enterprise, myself included, a boost. Whether it was physical, psychological, or both, there is no denying the fact that the crew feels more able to do their work. I attribute these boosts in ability to the alien temple, and I will initiate an investigation only if the effects become negative. On a regrettful front, it seems that a tiny, unmanned drone of a neighboring race was undetected by the Enterprise. Its tiny size prevented us from seeing it as we passed. Evidently, it was quite delicate and the distortion of our warp engines destroyed its delicate electronics. We regret seeing this occur, and we hope to be able to detect these ships better in the future. It seems that most of the planets in the quadrant are about to be discovered by the four races (except for the 6 planets in the center of the quadrant, which is anyone's guess). Despite the rapidly shrinking area to explore, I am not ready to offer alliances, as the makeup of the strategic holdings of each race have not been completely determined. I will hold off until then to make any overtures. Until then, I hope to continue our expansion, and if need be, first contact protocols are being reviewed by all Starfleet personnel. "Pretty quiet actually, a lot of posturing by the other sides, but no real action. We lost an orcidh mob to the Star Travellers for no explicable reason, we are waiting for more information before we take action. As for Snodworth III, he found the flight item you have been talking about, and is just now beginning his campaign. Other than that, there's not much." "Is the rest of the plan going on schedule?" she asked. "Do you mean...?" replied Snodworth. "Of course, what else would I ask about," she shouted back. "It's roughly on schedule, there have been a few hang-ups, but nothing major." "I'm expecting you to carry it out on schedule, this is your neck Snodworth." Birnbaum" to all players; Captain Picard's Log Stardate 0005.4 This day has been both interesting and troubling. It seems that the other races in this quadrant have similar warp-capable propulsion, and their appearance in this quadrant before the Enterprise has given them an advantage. The planets I had hoped to explore under the Federation banner have been reached first, and there are already alien ships near our own planets. I have decided to initiate contact with one species which all Federation analysts agree has the best potential to be friendly to the Federation and an alliance could be mutually beneficial. Before initiating contact, I received word from Lieutenant Data that he had explored another alien ruin and found an item similar to the phase-cloak that the Federation illegally developed a while back. It allows ships to go straight to their destination, enabling them to ignore obstructions such as stars, dust clouds, quasars, etc. I have allowed the use of this phase-cloak here since this quadrant is not in the Federation domain and therefore all the rules need not apply. I had never agreed with the decision not to develop such a device. Two more planets were explored (though one of them we are planning to offer to the aliens we intend to offer friendship to). It seems we will be hard pressed to explore more planets, though we will make all attempts to do so. The planet we explored we named Kittimer (41), after Camp Kittimer which was the location of the signing of the peace pact between the Klingon Empire and the Federation. It is hoped that this planet can be the location of peace and our (hopefully) new allies. I will now proceed to hail them. I hope all goes well. End Captain Picard's Log Open Hailing Frequency Members of the High Society (Red), this is Jean Luc Picard of the Federation Starship Enterprise. I hail you as a fellow resident of this quadrant. I have mentioned in the past that I must wait until the maturity of the exploration of this quadrant is achieved before I am willing to offer alliances, and while this quadrant isn't yet fully explored, I have decided it is time for a discussion between our two peoples. We propose an alliance, as we are the two groups which have entered this quadrant the latest, and hence are at a disadvantage. We have done extensive studies and they have shown that as allies, we could benefit eachother very much, increasing our chances against alien aggressors. Let me propose a few things. Indeed, your initial proposal sounds reasonable. The planet 07 is yours, we are unable to reach it before your ships can, and we will not contest your ownership of it. As for planet 66, we have positioned a ship near enough to it to occupy it next turn. Unfortunately, in order to do so, we were forced to occupy planet 64 and pillage it of its resident spider. In the interest of peace, we decided overwhelmingly NOT to destroy the planet, as that would be more than passing through, it would be destruction of rightful property. We have left this planet empty, so that any of your ships can occupy it (not just a combination of forces required to kill the resident spider). Please do not see this as an act of aggression, we needed to get our ship there quickly and this was the only way. With the rishes both of our Federations possess, it is the planet itself which is valuabe, not the small amont of reseources pillaged from it. Additionally, you will see that I have not ordered a preponderance of ships to our border, in fact the opposite is true. Our border is quite spare of ships, and this can remain so if our alliance is firm. We can discuss the terms, such as leaving only one ship in each border planet at a later date. There is one more thing I wish I could say, though I suspect the open channel this broadcast is being realyed through may be observed by others, so I cannot reveal it. Be assured, though, that it is a plan which I expect to give our two peoples vast power and influence, and which our two peoples alone are in the position to take advantage of. I will mention more on this at another time. So this is the Federation's offer. Please respond as you like, we will be waiting your call. Captain Picard out. Actions: 1) A blessed devil (strength 9) attacked the city 64 occupied by a spider (strength 7 with defense bonuses) and pillaged it for 350 gold (as required by the rules). 2) A wolfrider attacked the city of Kittimer (41) and pillaged it for 175 gold. 3) Lieut. "It appears as if the Star Travellers have accepted our terms for an alliance, and have already set the process in motion, albeit unorthodoxly." "Mmmm, excellent. Now what do you mean unorthodoxly?" she asked. "Intelligence shows that one of their armies has apparently taken the estate of Lord Albator, which they then bequeathed to us under the terms." "And the problem?" she replied. "Well..., I guess there is none, but Lord Albator is not particularly impressed, as well as our accountants." "It is not of importance, what is is that we can now focus our resources according to our plan. Have you been keeping up your end?" "Of course." "Is there anything else then?" she asked. "Calm down dear," said Snodworth. "Don't lose your head." "I won't, continue." "Well, the question is, what should we do about the offer?" "Simple, agree to it, ask the owner's of the estates along the border to offer their mansions as staging grounds, and wait to see what develops." "Alright, I'll keep you posted," said Snodworth. I guess there ain't much I can do about that. White, I say we is destined to work together to eliminate the scourge that has come out of the south like termites out of the wood shed. I'm talking about the fact the Blue and Red has gotten into bed together (so to speak). This south alliance (let's call them the "weasel farmers") is dangerous. I feel it is in our best interest to work together, at least for now, but probably for the rest of the time we're of this domain. I don't reckon I say this lightly, but I been having dreams that say an alliance between two nations would be much stronger if it was based on trust and if it is long-term with no question as to which side is going to back stab the other. I say we make an alliance to the end or at least until an alliance is no longer necessary, and if that should happen there should be a 2-turn declaration that the alliance is over. Such an alliance would mean we could focus our forces against our enemies, and not worry about one another. In fact, take a look at the weasel farmers as an example of an alliance that is NOT very good. Blue done already killed one of Red's Orc Mobs AND he done pillaged a city that rightfully belonged to Red. Blue is a hog and there ain't nothing Red can do about it. My grandpappy said a lot of things in his time. It turns out most of what he said pertained to chicken farmin', but for some weird reason I think his words make a lot of sense in our situation. First of all, he said that a north-south alliance is a sure bet in most wars. But the north is said to have an advantage because they are the first two nations to come into the world. I say an alliance between us is the best strategic decision we can make. I reckon it's a good thing we is already neutral toward one another. Let's take it one step further and start making plans. It sure sounds like Blue is startin' to formulate plans (see his last diplomatic message). You better keep your eye on that one! I also reckon I should say this. That we is in line to take the first city in the center, but that Blue has better forces than us close by (a blessed hero and a blessed devil). We ain't looked at it too closely, but it's questionable if we're going to be able to hold this city. We'll look at is some more tomorrow. Until then, I would keep a very close eye on your city Del Ly 08. Maybe send one of your griffens that way. I don't know this is necessary fer fact, but Blue's devil there makes me nervous for you. Also, guard well your (soon-to-be) city of 61. White, I think you and me is going to be good friends. In fact, I reckon I'll ask the missus to ask you over for some hominy and grits someday soon. We'll take a stroll out to the still and have a bender that would put Tom Turkey's neck to shame. Red dares call his race, the Kha-Na-Dha, a bunch of little rats. This little rat would kick some aristocrat’s butt all over the place and that is exactly what he did this turn, finding some gold along the way. Also, the elemental was also enraged by the puny red comments, so much so that after he won the battle in a center city, he could not contain his rage and nothing is left standing, only memories of what was once a beautiful thriving city [puke]. Star-Tac, on the other side of the territory, was busy decoding the vast quantity of information the intercepted. He believes that the puny red would ally with the even punier blue in order to impose upon this world their rein of terror. Star-Tac could not even start to imagine the people of this world turning into accountants, lawyers and Wesley Crusher. Star-Tac believes the good intention of the Hillbillies. Their actions so far have shown good faith. He believes the hillbillies "reckon" well. Star-Tac thus sent a message back to the hillbillies. This was a real sticky wicket of a decision (Yes, Upper Class, we've been known to play croquette from time to time, so don't get uppity with us!) We knew that BLUE probably got no great love for us, considerin' that he just joined forces with RED and all. I mean, ain't no point in joinin' forces unless you gonna do something, right? So, we figgered that if we kept Ruins (65) we'd have to be sending all our good guys over to protect it all the time from BLUE. Nah, none of that with us. So we burned it to the ground so as it won't get in nobody else's hands. Then, over the horizon Ghost saw an unoccupied city. The city had a BLUE flag over it, but really it was as good as RED's because RED had some powerful units nearby, ready to take it. Sheet, watcha think we gonna do? My Ghost wanted it real bad. He razed it, of course, mainly because he had so much fun burnin' that last city. So now, I reckon, we done have formally declared war against RED, if not by words, by our actions. Ghost then took cover in the mountains. We don't think anyone can git him, but we ain't spent as much time seeing if it can be done then others will spend trying to do it, if 'n you know what I mean. This created another sticky wicket of a siteration. How we gonna git that Ghost out of there? Well, we done set up a roadblock right over the East Temple. We is really sorry about hogging all the temple for ourselves RED, but whatcha gonna do about, that's what I wanna know? Birnbaum" to all players; Captain Picard's Log Stardate 0006.4 Today has been a trying day. Many of my initial plans have been ruined due to the wanton destruction of the other races in this quadrant. It seems they have no qualms at destroying alien planets which could hide the answers to the many mysteries of the universe. With time spent only to rape and pillage, these people seem only to enjoy destroying. Of the 6 planets making up the alien's home planetary system, only three have been left untouched. I have managed to bring the Enterprise within reach of two of these planets and have started to preserve their huge collection of alien artifacts. I plan on defending them fiercely, as these planets are unique. Of the other factions in this quadrant, it seems the yellow horde are the most destructive. They have destroyed two planets, and kept one, no doubt to suck it dry of natural resources. The cowardly sneak attack of the fast yellow warp ship was not anticipated, though I remember many courses in strategic planning back at the acadamy which required me to anticipate this. I am very angry at myself for missing this... I intend to contact the High Society and offer my applogies for these actions. Indeed, I would still like to keep my promise of interesting new information that should help them, though my initial plans are now pointless. Our stellar cartographers have reported the locations of all enemy ships in the region (using some of the alien technology to increase our sensor range). I have analysed this data and have found some good moves the High Socity could make. However, I would rather see what the yellow horde does before I reveal my suggestions. In any rate, all the planets in this quadrant have been explored, and now the positioning will be made to confront eachother. I am proud of the efforts of each of the Federation colonists in this quadrant, we have reached far and wide and I look forward to stretching further. End Captain Picard's Log Open Hailing Frequency to the High Society This is Captain Picard of the Federation starship Enterprise. I regret the occurances of the previous turn and hope that the Federation can make it up to you. The Federation meant to offer you the planet that the yellow horde so mercilessly destroyed. However, there are no other enemy planets in the area save except for Edge (62). I will try to help you all I can in securing this planet instead. Your fleet approaching the East temple (led by Lady Snodworth, I believe), is powerful and should be able to oust the yellow fleet currently residing there. However, the yellow horde will be able to bring many ships to defend Edge. With persistence and cooperation, I do believe that Edge can find its way into High Society hands. Even if the yellow horde manages to keep it, they will require many ships, and keeping them holed up in Edge is not bad either. My suggestion to you is to visit the temple, receive all that is due to you, and position yourself well for an attack next turn. I have not done the calculations (the Enterprise computer is currently doing other tasks), so I am not sure if it is possible to take the planet this turn. But the yellow horde must scramble to defend it and at worst, if they cannot defend it, they will probably destroy it, taking with it many resources the yellow horde has spent on it. Additionally, I may have some more advice concerning other areas of your empire, but you'll understand if I wait for the yellow horde to move before I offer it, as it may change the actions of our enemies. Be patient, and I will be sure to contact you at the right time. Together I have no doubt we can acomplish anything, even with a restriction on communications due to our great distances between eachother. The WHITE nation remarked that they feel a tad nervous about things. Well, we is sorry for not making this clear before. We think it would be possum behavior (suicide) to *not* work with WHITE in eliminating the aggressive hordes coming from the south. Just to put matters straight ... -White and Yellow are now allied, -All significant forces will be directed south toward our common enemies, -They will remain allied until a 2 turns notice is given. GenevaAgreed, agreed, agreed. We would also add that the North Temple be declared free and available to both sides. No large forces lingering nearby, and no units left in the Temple overnight. We're not sure which of our forces are causing concern for WHITE, but be assured that only defensive units are going to remain on our western front. We have just launched some navies from Pottsdorf (21) and will be sending them north toward the Temple (although they may possibly be diverted toward the northeast). We would have launched them from the east side of the waterway, except they would not reach the port in one turn. Also, we should tell you that we put a lot of thought into our new Griffin production, and we decided that Booney (53) was the best for its proximity to the Temple. Just to let you know, we *are* planning to use the North Temple as much as possible, but we will not have large forces there at any one time. As you can see we are fortifying our city of Edge (62) with blessed units. I reckon I don't have nothing real insightful to say about your battle with BLUE except keep up the good work. I reckon BLUE's too busy trying to tell RED what to do to. Just be careful. As my grandpappy used to say, ain't nothing worth getting that ain't worth some risk, but my grandpappy pretty much spent his whole life on a farm and didn't know diddly squat about fighting wars. Birnbaum" to all players; Captain Picard to the High Society, This is Picard. We have analysed your position and we are sorry to say, we have not found any major weaknesses on the yellow front that you can take advantage of this turn. We were hoping that he would vector his giantship in Judd (06) away. If so, then the High Socity fleet in Reyerson's (31) would have been able to occupy the planet or at least force the yellow horde to destroy it in two turns. That would have been guaranteed, there would have been no way he could stop you. But with that giantship, he can stop any attack by red forces. As well, the yellow horde continue to keep the temple to themselves and I do not believe Lady Snodworth can defeat them yet. I promised advice, and though I can only suggest a few small maneuvers, I hope this will convey our willingness to work together on this alliance. The first piece of advice is to at least move the fores in Reyerson's (31) 1 or 2 spaces north. That will put your wolfships in range of Judd (06). He will be unable to reach Reyerson's (31) due to the lack of flying ships. He will be forced to fortify. With the forces you are vectoring in, perhaps soon you will be in the position to attack. Secondly, the Lady Snodworth fleet. Try to stay within attacking distance from the temple (without allowing any yellow fleet from destroying it) but it is important to take the elemental out of the water. He is not doing you any good in the water, where he gets no bonus, and he is actually short-changed by being restricted to 20 movement points rather than 40. If you need a boat, use a light infantryman. The temples are important, it is imperetive we don't let our enemies from keeping them to themselves. That is all I have for now, but I am having many Federation statistians working on our problem, so stay tuned. Also, I believe everyone will be impressed with the actions of the Federation's next turn, and hopefully those actions will further convince you that you have made the right decision to ally with the Federation. Good luck in your endeavors, High Society. "There's no activity on the western border, it appears as if the Star Travellers are abiding by the alliance." "And what came of the advice from the french gentlemen?" "Well, it appears they have some sort of fancy fax machine over there that can think by itself. They have not found any brilliant ambushes yet, but they say it's working on it." "Silly contraptions," she muttered. "Yes dear, they are also speaking of a great victory in the coming days. They obviously have the Canadians right where they want them. Speaking of the Canadians, why do their leaders have such strange names?" asked Snodworth. "No idea, they were once a colony of ours, you would think they would have proper names like us." "Hmmm, it probably has something to do with them being so close to those foul Americans," commented Snodworth. "The stock car racing on the t.v. might be beginning to affect them, or maybe their beginning to marry their sisters like their neighburs?" "Oh those ill-mannered animals do get me quite angry! Anyways, it looks like were going to be in quite of a stalemate with the foul smelling pigs; it appears as if they don't want to surrender the temple." "No problem, that leaves the rest of their borders undefended." "Precisely, anyway the next couple of weeks should bring us some great succeses." "That's great news my dear" "Yes, but of course I'm counting on the help of our son." "That might be a problem, he is still quite a distance away." "That's not my problem; it's yours." "Very well dear," said Snodworth as he put down the phone and turned to his aide, "It looks like Lady Snodworth needs some help, are you prepared to go to the northern front and give her a hand slaying some un-couth, illegitimate swine who eat raw hedgehog for dinner." "Of course sir, but who will take my place?" asked the aide. "Oh we'll find someone, pack your things and get going." "Very well sir." Birnbaum" to all players; Captain Picard's Log Stardate 0007.4 Much has occurred since my last log. I have not had time to make regular entries due to the amount of activity on the Federation front. I finally have some free time so I will explain all that happened. I had mentioned in previous logs that the Federation's reach ended at the planets we had already explored. I was right, but not in all aspects. It seems several planets initially explored by the other alien races in this quadrant had been left almost empty. It seemed that they neither desired to colonize these planets nor exploit them for natural resources. Naturally, I found an opportunity there for the Federation. The first planet we detected seemed at first to be too far away to reach. However, Lieutenant Data suggested that we use some alien technology he had discovered while exploring the ancient alien ruins. The maneuver involved "piggybacking" one ship's warp field onto another's. The result is a sort of catapulting effect. The original ship's warp field collapses, but strengthens the other, sending it further than normal. Using this technique, we were able to send a griffonship to the planet known as Gar-Gor 11. The griffonship just made it there and commenced to explore. But they quickly reported back that contrary to our assumptions that the planet was unoccupied, there was indeed a small ship orbiting the planet. Before the Federation ship could make contact, the alien ship activated a destruct sequence in a doomsday device planted within the planet's core. The griffonship was barely able to lift to a higher orbit before the planet was completely destroyed. I must say, even after thinking about the whole situation, I am still puzzled as to the reason these aliens destroyed a planet they didn't seem to be interested in. With that experience behind us, we decided to continue with the exploration of another alien planet. In fact, there is a side story to this one. As I reported in a previous log, when visiting the alien temple, the whole Enterprise crew received a rejuvenated burst of energy that made us feel stronger. As I also mentioned, the temple seemed to offer me a quest, promising a reward if it was completed. I have made every effort to comply with the terms of this quest and was nearing its completion when the various planets of the inner region were being destroyed left and right. The forces which compelled me to seek out these planets were being extinguished. Fortunately, however, one planet did remain intact, and I felt an increasingly strong compulsion towards this planet. The planet was owned by the yellow horde, and I knew they could be vicious, but I decided to take the risk anyway. I brought the Enterprise into orbit of the planet and opened a hailing frequency. The yellow horde immediately attacked, without even answering my hail. The Enterprise quickly dispatched the enemy ships and we proceeded to explore the planet. All of a sudden, a powerful energy beam emanated from the planet. It was of an alien source and it enveloped the Enterprise. It seemed my quest had been completed upon the discovery of this planet and the removal of the alien influences upon it. I was able to see the beings that built these temples, these amazing planets, the ones who ruled this part of the galaxy so long ago. I was not able to discern any speech, they only seemed to smile (or what I thought was smiling on their rather alien-looking faces). Just as quickly as it started, the energy beam disappeared, and alongside the Enterprise was a brand new starship with an accompanying warship. After exploring the ship, engineering declared it safe. Well, I wasn't going to just let it go to waste, so I decided to offer the helm of the ship to Commander Worf. He was honored to take it (as any Klingon would). I sent him to a section of the quadrant that we had poorly explored, I figured Worf would like the opportunity to flex the muscles of his new ship. He started at the planet he named, Sto-Vo-Kor (45). The warship, a dragonship, stayed behind and accompanied the Enterprise in its fleet. I was informed by the helm that the energy beam that emerged from the planet had used such a huge amount of energy, that the planet had become uninhabitable. While I do enjoy the fruits of the completed quest, I can't help but feel bad that another planet has been ruined. The Federation could do nothing to stop the destruction of the two planets, but I have made sure to let all Federation members to be extra careful in the future. Other than these two events, Lieutenant Data discovered another alien ruin and uncovered another warship, this one a demonship. This has been a long day, and now I think I shall rest until tomorrow. I look forward to the Enterprise showing of Hamlet. I miss Data in the role of Hamlet, but I'm sure Geordi will do fine. End Captain's Log Events: 1) A griffon attacked a wolfrider in the planet Gar-Gor 11. The city was defense +2 so the wolfrider defended at a strength of 6. The griffon had a strength of 8 and killed the wolf with no casualties. The planet was looted for 108 gold, and sacked for 80 (bats) + 225 (wolfriders) = 305. The wolf razed the planet in its last act of defiance. 2) Captain Picard (strength 6 +2 bonus), a blessed Devil, and a blessed bat attacked the planet of Edge (62) containing a spider and two blessed light infantry. [Wipe the coffee of the screen and proceed :-)] Nat-Pro is indeed the greatest female hero of the Kha-Na-Dha. Using the transwarping technology discovered by their enemy, Nat-Pro was able to reach Pacifica 58 and occupy the city. There was no contest in that battle as she easily dominated the few armies left there in defense. The death of the blue hero named Data (who was about to get stronger) is a major blow to blue’s plans in this region. The city was quickly renamed Tur-Ick 58, in honor of a warrior known for his cunning and ability to always take his enemy by surprise. Nat-Pro will die with pride, knowing that, although short, her contribution to this war was invaluable. Star-Tac was inspired by this great victory and ordered not only the death of the blue griffin but also the start of the attack on the west flank of blue’s territory. He was also very pleased with an earlier decision to vector armies near the northern temple as they are now well positioned to defend against the second blue hero, Picard. He should retreat soon as his days are counted if he stays. While this was taking place, Mar-Ack was arranging his neck of the woods. He heard that was a devil hiding near and was looking for him. He also decided that he couldn’t afford to clear the area of his strong units, as the blue menace is to close. But Mar-Ack does not know how to prove or convince that he has absolutely no intention on taking any actions against yellow. A battle with yellow would surely mean the death for both white and yellow. The southern alliance appears strong and will only get stronger with Nat-Pro’s achievement. Mer-Ack decided to leave both Der-Bok 14 and Iba-Chi 05 virtually defenseless as a gesture of good faith. A yellow attack on those cities will not lead to any good for either nation. Red is moving beautifully and yellow’s armies will serve a better purpose down there. Also, Mer-Ack wishes to propose an extension of the alliance between white and yellow until turn 21. Even if both blue and red are annihilated, the Kha-Na-Dha will not take any action against yellow unless they are provoked. Mer-Ack awaits the hillbillies’ response with great anticipation. The Wall [I will not attack you nor will I kill your hero if you leave him at the northern temple. We have to work together on this or we will be wiped out.
