My name is Hsiao-Chiu Chu and I am glad to open a new = game with all of you! Hmm, let's see. It seems I don't know most of = you guys, have we met before? Oh well, I am an electrical engineer working at Taiwan. Got back from USA 1.5 = years ago. My favorite hobby is gardening (sorry SSG). Playing = warlords tournament is for the prize so I hope that I can make it to the final 16. (Everyone in the final 16 got a prize, right?) In this game, I will play King Chu of Formosa. For your information, = Formosa is when Dutch first found Taiwan from Europe, they named it = Formosa. Later on, when they board the island, oops, already populated, = too bad. Formosa means "beautiful island" or something like that. My = three heros will be named as GreenDragon, WhiteTiger and RedSparrow. = But since WL2 doesn't like long names, I will change them into GrDra'n, = Whitger, and ReSpar. There are named after feared ancient Chinese gods = of war, so beware! 8-) Anyway, hope we all enjoy this game! =20 Hsiao-Chiu Chu PS. Stats at the beginning: 1 city, 13039 golden beers (+64/-25). My first incarnation, Zagreus, the early Dionysos, the wild Hunter, emerges from Zeus' Thigh(1). (That's where I am from, too). He inspires a few ecstatic, drunken Bacchae to eat the lone scout who lived there. That was just a stupid animal, anyway... He then proceeds to free the NW Elemental and the NW Ghost, to help him (and me) bring Wine, Love and Peace to the humans of this world... The Elemental takes and pillages the neutral city of 13 (which should bring us luck...) (+175 gb). He renames it from the Pink Elephants he sees in the neighboring fields... Productions built: - Griffins in Zeus' Thigh(1): - 1700 gb. - Elephants, of course, in 13 Pink Elephs (that's how I see them, after spending so many beers...): - 1500 gb. That's all for now. Stats at the end: 2 cities, 10014 gb (+112/-0). Zagreus' exp.: 6 (+ 6). Diplomacy: Awaiting your offers of allegiance or alliance... Enjoy my mistakes. Next Player's Turn yy=3D01 Sid= e z=3D4 The sad Emperor Elric sat on his Ruby Throne thinking about the irony in the world. Here he was, the last Sorcerer Emperor of the decadent Melnibon=E9an Empire. The only one intellectually active in an age when mos= t Melnibon=E9ans prefer to dream of past Glories, using drugs to spend their lives in a semi-aware state of the World around them. Rumours heard from the Traders that dared challenge the perils involved with trading with the Rulers of the Dragon Isle was that the Young Kingdoms were indeed throwing lustful looks at the Riches hidden within Imrryr, The Dreaming City. Elric knew deep down that he had the power to rise his people once more to rule the World the way the Empire had done in old Ages. His people were far beyond the mere humans populating the larger parts of the World. He himself was a perfect example of that. Albino and defect since birth, he had been kept alive only by the use of the exotic herbs found on the Dragon Isle. His physical inability had lead him to spend much more time in the sanctury of the old Imperial Melnibon=E9an Library, a place without likeness throughout the world. Books concerning the summoning of Elementals and the Creatures of Chaos without any match in the rest of this Dimension were found here. By the age of fifteen Elric had read all these books. By the age of eighteen he had no master in the art of Magic throughout the World. By the age of 20 his father, Sadric the Eighty-sixth died and left the Empire in the hands of Elric. Now Elric wore the Ring of Kings, the evidence of him being Emperor of Melnibon=E9 and a valuable tool in the Art of Summoning since buried inside were the Bounds his ancestors had made to the various Elemental and Beast Lords on the peak of their Power. Elric, four hundred and twenty-eighth Emperor of Melnibon=E9, slowly rose from his Ruby Throne. The time had come. His decision was made. Elric would follow the suggestion his cousin Yyrkoon had made, time after time. The Young Kingdoms had forgotten what real Might looked like. The barbaric hordes roaming around the deserts would need to be pushed down before another one looked at the Towers of The Dreaming City and dared to think about pillaging the City. His cousin was obvious about who he thought should be sitting on the Ruby Throne and making that decision, but Elric had let him even voice that opinion, a clear difference between Elric and his ancestors. Not even Sadric would have allowed such a thing to take place. But this was Elric's problem, his intellectual childhood and made him think a lot, sometimes more than was healthy. But the time for thinking was passed. The spies had been caught this very morning in the Labyrinth, the intricate cave-system leading into the harbour of Imrryr. Torture had revealed the plans of expansion and Elric had been forced to call to Arms. While Yyrkoon was left in charge of the raising the troops, Elric himself went in search for magical help. "Lady Lassa, Lady of the Air Elementals, your loyal servant Elric of Melnibon=E9 is calling for your help." "Long ago was it since a mortal dared to seek the help of Me." "I beg you, Lady Lassa, to remember the Bounds made in the Early Dawn between my Ancestors and You!" "Long ago was that indeed, even the way my People count the years. And never in this time has Your People broken the trust granted to you so long ago. Long have I seen upon the World and much like You dreamed of the Days of Greater Glory for Our People." "Those days could come back when once again Your People is worshipped throughout the world and the Dragons fly through the World with Melnibon=E9an Warriors on their backs!" "I fear that time is passed and the World is moving and both our People will soon be forgotten, however the Melnibon=E9ans have always been fun to discuss the Ways of the World with and you have indeed been like a True Melnibon=E9an Sorcerer Emperor from the Past and I will honour the Agreemen= t made when the World was young. I will send you some of my most trusted servants, may the Speed of the Wind be of help in your Quest for Glory!" "Thank you, Lady Lassa, never will the Lady of the Air and Wind be forgotten while I am Emperor of the Dragon Isle!" Elric lay panting down on the floor and felt somewhat relief. The Lady of the Air was known to be hard to depend upon, but the speed of her Air Elements was of outmost importance. However an even larger Challenge lay ahead of him.. "Arioch! Arioch! Blood and Souls to my Master! Help me Arioch, this is Elric, Emperor of Melnibon=E9 calling upon you to honour the Bounds between the Lord of The Seven Darks and the Emperors of Melnibon=E9!" "Elric, my favourite Mortal, finally I get to meet you.." "Arioch, I beg for your help. When my People started with Magic, many hundred Generations ago, they encountered you and the other Lords of Chaos. In return for the Souls offered to you by Melnibon=E9ans throughout the years you promised to help the People of the Dragon Isle when they needed help. Once again I want to offer you Souls in return for your favours." "My, my, Elric. Is the time finally here for the Dragon People to reclaim their Rightful Place as Rulers of the World? Very well, I will help you in return for the Souls you encounter during your War. I will assist you and your cousin, the two last decendants of the True Melnibon=E9an Emperors wit= h the gift of the Two Swords!" "Stormbringer and Mournblade? Dark indeed are the stories about how our ancestors used them to conquer the known world and lead War against the Lords of Law themselves!" "Yes, Dark are the stories indeed. Remember to aim The Swords carefully. They are thirsty for more than the mere Blood of your Enemies. You did promise me both Blood and Souls! Farewell my favourite Mortal, our destinies lay twisted together and I will try to help you whenever I can.= =20 However yours is only one of a thousand dimensions and even a Duke of Hell is limited and cannot be in too many places at one time." "Farewell my Lord! I promised you both Blood and Souls and that is what I am going to give you." Elric was unable to rise from the floor, the last summoning had taken the ounce of strength from his weak body, depleting the drugs he used to simulate a normal strength. Finally he rose to his knee and saw the Two Swords, floating in the Air in front of him. "Yyrkoon!" Yyrkoon came after a short while and his eyes widened when he realized what he saw in front of him. He reached out for the nearest Sword, realized that Elric was there and looked at him. "Yes, Yyrkoon. I have spoken with Arioch and he has given us this gift. The Two Swords!" Yyrkoon grabbed the nearest Sword and drew it from the scabbard! "Mournblade!" Elric drew his Sword too. "Stormbringer!" The Swords themselves started to howl, a demonic cry that would have driven normal Mortals mad, but these were no mere Mortals, these were the last decendants of the Sorcerer Emperors of the Dragon Isle! Elric felt Power pulsating from the Sword into his body and he felt a strength never felt before. A quick glance at Yyrkoon's demonic grin assured him that Mournblade was feeding Its owner the same way. However without Stormbringer I would once again be forced to use the drugs to keep my Strength up. Now the Sword feeds me strength every day." I am sure that we have no current interest in overstreching our resources in this war and currently I feel our Neighbour in the West will do more good on our Side than be added to the list of Enemies we have in the North! The only thing we have to work out will then be whether our Future Ally prefers Ruins or Cities. You see on the Natural Border between our Empires is both a City and an Ancient Ruin located. Personally I would probably prefer to Conquer the City and let our Ally Loot the Ruin on Gems. Especially since from what the Spies I sent out have reported. He seems even more intent on rushing North than I have been but I have not been able to completely map his every intent. I am sure however that the Enemies in The North has already started to have problems with their finances. However, I can see your double-blessed elemental is crucial to be near temple, and even if you capture the central cities, elemental has to back out (the stronghold of Red in central cities is tough), kind of waste your resource. In the other hand, if I send my double-blessed elemental, I can "take care" of the problem of central cities to certain degree, at least I can prevent the BLUE to grab two central cities. I will wait for your response/comment before my next move! Yours, King Chu _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Tuesday April 07, 1998 at 11:15 AM EDT by Paul Andre Heilporn to all players; Hic to all! Here is my answer to the diplomatic message of my Yellow Ally: Dear friend, Thank you for reminding me that a twice-blessed Elemental can take a central city (did you say 7 + 1 - 7 is superior to 0? I never thought of that! - dammit! I think I hear some people laughing now... I can understand why!). First of all, keep the pressure on Red. Concerning 65 (and 66), after checking the gamefile, I don't see how you would take it this turn: your Elemental is a bit too short. Both Red and Blue are not closer to get them now. If you keep pressure on Red and force him to concentrate on your common front, only Blue (& his blessed griffin and ghost) should be our main concern for these cities. So it should be my job to take care of him... I'm not so sure my Elemental is more crucial near the West temple than yours is near the East one... and I'll dare to kindly remind you that you should soon have *two* cities more than me, which means I would gladly have one more production center... Be sure that if you let me "take care" of this problem, city 65 (and I hope city 66) won't ever come into evil hands... If fortune helps us, I would feel obliged to you and gladly help you get into 66 or another city, if some "accident" happens to 66... Anyway, we have one more turn to think about it, I believe. We'll see which tricks the pityful southerners will try to oppose to our glorious armies on our way to victory (and more precisely how Blue early attack develops in the West :). I would suggest that you do a conservative move, allowing you to keep both possibilities open for next turn - to take 65, or to use the Elemental to crush the Red Necks... If you prefer to concentrate on one thing, I ask you to leave 65 to me. But of course, decision is yours for now, and whoever takes 65 will be obliged to the other. May the force of the Wine be with you! Enjoy! Faced with an ally that has a static defence as a strategy, I was tempted to throw in the towel and just sacrifice my cities (as I'm on a downward slide anyways) and send all my forces north to raze a few of your cities. I had a hell of an offensive going, actually beating WHITE to the western temple and western ruin and getting my Heros north much faster than my white opponent. Not too shabby considering I played last. The only problem was I was counting on Red too much (make that *WAY* too much) to prevent yellow from just strolling past him and flanking me. It was my mistake and believe me, I'm pissed at myself for not checking up on red more. Even now red has his most powerful allies stacked with his one Hero that *can't* fly while he has most of his griffins and pegasus stacked with the flying Heros. Sure could have used a few of them griffins last turn! (And don't ask ME what he is doing with all those spiders he is moving from city to city around his capital!?!) I can't wait to play in the head to head games....I've been burned with my diplomacy in every game I've played so far, so at least when i lose in the head to head games, it will be because of my own mistakes, and not because i was counting on my so called allies. _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Friday June 05, 1998 at 12:53 AM EDT by svankoug@direct.ca (Steve VanKoughnett) to all players; Still having fun, running around, getting killed...as a reward to yellow, who has won this game for white AND himself, I leave my capital for you to sack and raze, hats off to King Chu! start gold 1957 - builds 1350 = end gold 607 Build dwarfs Blackout 08 Build spiders BlackHole 45 Build Lt Calv. This alliance was pretty obviously a mistake and I'm sick of getting blamed in every mail just because you made a mistake and left no garrison in your home cities.. _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Monday June 08, 1998 at 01:56 AM EDT by svankoug@direct.ca (Steve VanKoughnett) to all players; Hi guys, I don't know what happened but i just resent the gamefile, I'll check my email tomorrow to see if you get it. I got some message from the remailer that the gamefile was deleted because it confused it with a message or something. Anyways, sorry about the delay, on another note, it's OK with me if we end our alliance since we'll probably never meet on the battlefield anyways...now we're both too busy retreating! I don't mean to sound like a poor sport Paul, and I'm not blaming you for all my mistakes that I've made. Whether it was me leaving my ghost/three griffin stack one square too close to whites forces(a few turns back) or not anticipating the yellow ghost that slipped by your defences, they were still MY mistakes, not yours. It may be true that you could have done much more to counter certain moves against yellow, but it is still the nature of the game to watch out for your allys moves and mistakes, and I take full blame for my downfall. (It's just that I had such a damn good offensive going....man I hate that yellow ghost!) Anyways, no hard feelings I hope...now let's kill each other! Steve _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Tuesday June 09, 1998 at 12:49 AM EDT by Hsiao-Chiu Chu to all players; Diplomatic message: Dear WHITE: I will raze two BLUE cities in my next move. However, I do think BLUE is planning a major penetration near center cities area. I trust that you would have already come out with several ways of counter measures. I just want to offer my humble opinion that you take take out the only BLUE navy near center city by your near by spider navy and a bat! You would only lose the bat though. That navy could easily carry the BLUE hero stack to the door way of city RED WINE 61. After I raze the two BLUE cities, BLUE will lose all productivity of elephants and archers. Still, BLUE has two of each units already in the line of battle, one with the hero stack and one near the hero in the WEST boundary. I imagine that my ghost will be destroyed in next BLUE move (by paying the price of a griffin :-) ). So, I think it is time for my ghost to bow out. Wish you God speed and strength!!
