A. TOP 5 PLAYERS WHO COULD NOT CONTINUE IN ROUND B:

1. Pooh - Gary Best. Pooh wiped his plate clean in A16, capturing all
the cities as White and ranking #2 for that color.
Gary remains involved in the Tournament as a Moderator
and Rules Guru, but was unable to play in Round B due to
his wedding (Congratulations!) and other commitments.
Due to his prior work on the DOS WarBOT, and an occasional
wistful message, we know that the spirit of Warlords is still
within him, and we hope to see him take to the battlefield
once more in the World Warlords 2 League!

2. Martijn Dashorst - One of the original core tournament organizers,
Martijn was our original European player, and not only fought
well but also did much of the design work for the Round A
Olympics scenario. Alas, he graduated from University, and
between his girlfriend and his new job in the Netherlands,
he found his spare time growing too scarce to keep up,
and he finished 19th as Orange in A28.

3. L'ennemi du Bien - Dirk Pellett was one of our famous players,
renowned throughout the Warlords community as a prolific
and incisive scenario reviewer. In A17 he was felled mostly
by his own creative spirit - it seems that he could not
take a turn without writing a complete James Bond-style
role-played short story. Unfortunately his diplomacy
and gameplay wound up at odds with his intended storyline,
and eventually he wasn't able to keep up with the demands
of his creative muse, and ended the game honorably,
eliminated by Green and finishing 26th as White.
Rumor has it that he has contributed to the scenario design
effort for the upcoming Round E of the Tournament... :)

4. Guntar - Matt Carlson. Guntar was an impressive Green in A36,
with a solid mix of role-playing and tactical skill, placing
him 8th in the Green pool with 82% of the cities. Alas,
the real world has swallowed Matt up once more, and due to
his studies (Ph.D. dissertation, we believe) he did
not have the time to try to repeat his performance in Round B.
As with the others, we hope to see him again in the WW2L.

5. Nightrazor - Brent Macdonald. Finished 17th as Green in A13, with 37%
of the cities. Brent graduated from school and started a new
job, much like Martijn. He remains a lurker in the Round B
mailing list, and we hope to see him again in the World
         Warlords 2 League someday!
