Here is my dilemma: I had requested that you allow me to capture Berlin, but you had captured it anyways (I recognize that you did state this in our initial agreement - but as you can see, War can be unpredictable). You then proposed that I capture Munich to secure a position in the central mountains. Berlin would have been an adequate launching point for my forces, but unfortunately that is now not an option for me. Melbourne was razed by Unimaginable, and therefore that was no longer an option for a launched attack either. The next option is, of course, Antwerp. Now that I look back on this, and witness your unexpected alarm, I realize I probably should have chosen Antwerp. Of course, in doing so he yet again announces that he feels he has no chance of expanding his empire, rather he hope to maintain the status quo by trying to stop you getting close to him. Still, I have a plan that should be effective in countering the Green threat, and thereby helping you expand southwards. I am loathed to detail too much to them, and I hope you'll be able to fill in the details of this sketch yourself (which I wouldn't expect of those other two ;^). The lacky Shaitan is now on my leash, and I shall be able to systematically deal with him. Green has not got the luxury of dealing with only one opponent now. Here's the idea: Move Lord of Courage down through the razed Munich,and then down towards the temple. From there he can threaten either Atlanta or Moscow (Green won't know which). From the west, push south towards Green's lightly defended west coast, and east towards Moscow, with the aid of Lady Luck. I will move in through Dublin in the eastern mountains, and then also pressure Atlanta. In this way, Green with have two powerful armies equally pressing down on both of his central mountain strongholds of Moscow and Atlanta, which will force him to divide his forces equally to adequately defend them both. If I get the opportunity to take either Atlanta or Mosow myself, I will do so, and then render the city unto you immediately (by evacuation), allowing you to make a token attack and recapture. I feel they are your cities to hold by right, and will not try to hold them from you. As you can then see my friend, such division of greens forces by fighting a war on two fronts will promote unavoidable weakness, and it will be this that shall see to the downfall of "Unimaginative". Considering the past history of events, it was probably the only reasonable option left open to you. You have shown yourself to be an honourable Warlords by holding to the accords of our treaty, and thus holding off any assault until your turn 9. I of course will do the same. However, I have thought about this a great deal, and can see a solution that would be mutually beneficial, yet firm our alliance rather than destroy it. Here is my strategy. Please consider it carefully, as I think you will find my logic immpecable, and the accords most appealing... Firstly, if we go to war, it will delight the southern alliance. Whereas we will both be fighting a war on two fronts, they will only need to concentrate on one front, and thus their assaults upon us will be much stronger, enhancing greatly their chance of victory. A war between us may help you to gain Berlin and maybe London early on, but that would be all you could take, and I can see my way towards reclaiming London rapidly, and perhaps Berlin soon after (or vice versa). In fact, the situation may well become worse for you. Simply put, a war between us would be stagnant, bloody, and interminable. I also don't deny that it is in my interest to maintain the alliance. On the other hand, I see your problem, and the need to expand in some direction. With the razings, this has become more difficult (but not overly so). Therefore, I offer these new set of terms. If something disagrees with you, tell me, suggest your preference (or other ideas you have), and we can re-negotiate those points. I am not an unreasonable man. (1) You need a stronghold to strike south-central. Therefore, I will give you Berlin. This should help to compensate for the razing of Munich. Berlin has a defence of 2, and some good production (though it can be improved!). (2) We form our alliance for the remainder of the game. (3) If we then win the scenario (likely), we each get 50% of the cities at the end. Therefore if I control say, 70% of the cities when Green and Blue is eliminated, I wil let you take a number of cities off me to equalize city numbers (and vice versa), by abandoning selected cities. (4) We pull all but nominal garrisons away from our border cities (except Berlin), to use those troops down south. We also vector south, so neither of us feel threated by each others troops, which could potentially destabilise the alliance. If you wish to add other conditions, tell me. For point (3), 50% cities each will give us both *very* good rankings in the round, since on average players will only hold 25% of total cities. Sure, this precludes either of us from conquering the world, but if we go to war, that scenario is *highly* unlikely, and for reasons discussed above, we'll both probably end up with less than 25%! That is why I'm willing to hold these conditions. I give my word on this, and may all other players strike me dead if I don't, for anyone is going to be able to read the game histories once this is over (ie. the histories go public). I don't want to tarnish my reputation! Finally, I haven't currently abandoned Berlin, since if I don't leave the two heavy infantry in there, Green's Elementals can take and raze the city, which neither of us want!
