__________ __________/ \__________ <__________ Turn 1 __________> \__________/ _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Monday October 06, 1997 at 03:04 PM EDT by Mrzakk@aol.com to all players; Yay! We're rollin'! Gamefile to follow. READ THESE FOLLOWING RULES! No whining about missing out on that second hero, 'cause here they are one last time: Round A Rules Reminders! Last Updated 30-September-97 by Bob Heeter Read this message carefully - it contains a lot of essential information! *** Critical Scenario and Rules Changes from the Practice Round *** * Starting Gold: 4200/side * Razing: On Capture only * Round A games will last for 20 turns! * New Gold Rules: The gold limit for Strongholds is now 2500. All the gold is now in strongholds; revert until you get less than 2500. We recommend reverting to get between 2400 and 2500. (The odds of getting between 2400 and 2500 are about 10%, so this takes less reverting than trying to get near 3600!) * Special Builds: The center cities all build griffins! Sack 'em for cash - or build 'em! Note - griffins defending neutral cities are strength 8 (6+2). The neutral cities are set to "active" in the tournament. * New Rule: Two Heroes! You are allowed (and expected!) to revert and get a second hero on Turn 2. *** If you want a second hero, it MUST come ONLY on Turn 2. *** The second hero can come with *any* ally you choose in *any* city you control. You may not replace any dead heroes until *both* heroes are dead. Then the regular hero-replacement rules apply. (Note that once you lose a hero you cannot have more than one hero on the map.) Ask your Moderator or Headquarters for details. The starting gold has been increased to allow the purchase of the second hero. You must report the cost of the second hero and he/she must cost at least 1000 gold. * New Rule: Limited Allies with Replacement Heroes: After Turn 2, all replacement heroes may only come with wizards, ghosts, elementals, or worms. Archons, Demons, Dragons, and Devils are not allowed with replacement heroes - you can only get them from ruins or with your Turn 2 second hero. Warlord, use thy allies wisely! :) * Holidays: The U.S. Thanksgiving Weekend in late November and the midwinter holidays (from December 20 to January 7) will be official "Tournament Holidays". Time limits will not be enforced during those periods, and players do not need to worry about using up vacation time then, although we hope the games will all continue! We expect some games to finish before Christmas, and the rest in January and February. Round B will begin in mid-January after the winter holidays end! More timeouts will be supplied to all Round A players when Round B begins. *** Prizes for Round A *** The four Warlords who write the most entertaining game history will each receive a prize from SSG. The one Warlord who writes the best individual roleplay will also receive a prize from SSG. The awarding of both prizes will be determined after the round ends by a team of moderators (who will exclude themselves from recieving prizes). ---------- Hero ally clarification: Hero comes with one (1) single ally. -z _______________________________________________________________________________ The following message was sent on Tuesday October 07, 1997 at 10:18 AM EDT by DStev14755@aol.com to all players; Greetings Warlords! The battle begins! Lord Gruin's forces rise from their tents and gather to hear the words sending them into the frey. Lord Ardais begins the war traveling along a mountain trail until he reaches the city of Athens. Here the cities leaders have only a minor scout to defend them. He is not too happy to be the one sent into battle and quickly departs into the hills. The city welcomes Lord Ardais with open arms and the best Ouzo available. Lord Ardais determines that the best thing for Athens to do is to develop the Dwarf unit to enable smooth traveling thru the mountains and hills. The scout unit that orginated in the founding city IOC is disbanded as he was crippled in the opening ceremonies and can travel only in short distances. Also, he had an extreme sense of his worth and set a much too high price to stay in the battle. Perhaps this was his way of not having to fight at all! IOC also determined to build Dwarves to begin the wars. With this The Organizers rest awaiting day 2 and the arrival of Lord Gruin on the battlefield. *********************** Official Turn Report Template ************************ REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND _A__, GAME _28__, TURN __1__, SIDE _1__. ============================================================= Gold at Start of Turn: __4215___ City _Athens_ taken (looted ____ gold, sacked/pillaged 175 gold, razed?) *** New City Builds and End-of-Turn Declarations: (Repeat for each new build) New Build of unit type Dwarf purchased in city _IOC_ for _450 gold New Build of unit type Dwarf purchased in city Athens for _450 gold Final Cities: _2_ Gold: _3490 Income: 60_ Expenses: _0_. Could it be??? Are they ready??? Just as he is about to run out the door to greet the messenger, he hears a familiar (and favorite) song come over the radio. He delays for a moment to hear the beginning "Welcome to the Jungle We got fun and games We got everything ya want Honey, we know the names" GNR Wondering if this is a positive omen, Gary III hits the remote to turn the system off, and runs out to greet the messenger. Sure enough, he reads the news that the first round of the tournament is ready to begin. He then spends the next few days physically and mentally preparing himself, and soon he is transported to the CNN Office to begin the game. Gary III looks around this new world he has been brought to and starts to contemplate his strategy. Shortly, he decides that it is truly difficult to concentrate with Ted Turner's picture all over the place, so he goes out into the open air to begin his conquest. On his way out of the door, he picks up the scout sitting there by the scruff of his neck and throws him into the wall, killing him and accidentally breaking a picture of Ted in the process. "Oh, well. Ted can certainly buy another - or maybe I can if I pick up enough gold in this tournament," he thinks. Gary III then marches over to Squaw Valley, where he finds another pitiful scout awaiting death. This one he throws from the parapets and watches it smash into the ground below. "Scouts. Hrmph! Why were they ever created," he wonders. He pillages the cities production for 175 gold. He then purchases light cavalry for both the CNN Office and Squaw Valley and decides that he has had enough for his first day. ______________________________________________________________________ Report for tournament Round A, Game 28, Turn 1, Side 3 Amount of gold at beginning of turn - 4,215 Dragon Lord Gary III takes Squaw Valley and pillages for 175. Lord Gruin was arriving! The city of IOC was in a festive mood. Children on the edge of camp were the first to give the word, as they raced back to the center tents. "He's coming! He's Coming!" Gruin arrived with an Elemental by his side. The crowd went wild. "I hope to give a better showing in this battle.", he said to the crowd. "And now to the front!" Gruin took the Dwarf unit awaiting in IOC and headed thru the hills to the fabled Steve's Hand. They crept along the fingers of the Hand until they came to the palm. There defending the territory was the dreaded Blown Tire. The Dwarf was sent to one side, while Gruin attacked from the other. The Dwarf hit low with a swooping swing of his axe, and Gruin thrust high with his sword. The Tire gave little defense. With two ruptures, it quickly deflated. It wasn't near the terror that legend had made it. It was simply a lot of hot air. Lord Gruin then reached into the palm of the Hand and took the waiting Official Sponsoring. The Elemental was sent along the northern mountain trail to the city of Los Angeles. The scout defending the city took one look and hightailed it for San Francisco, somewhere in the hills. The city fathers greeted the Elemental with open arms, and agreed to build Giants instead of silly scouts. The mayor said, "This time we get the Giants, and San Fran can have the Dodger! Lord Ardais, meanwhile, took the Dwarf built in Athens and climbed down a hillside to a swampy ruin called Domning Domain. There, instead of having to do battle, a unit of Archon agreed to join The Organizers. The Archon had built several shelved closets and bookcases within the ruin, so she thought this was her natural team to join. Lord Ardais sent the Dwarf onward, while he joined the Archon and headed to his next destination. Darkness fell on the Organizer Hills before anymore territory could be covered, so Lord Gruin's forced camped for the night. *********************** Official Turn Report Template ************************ REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND _A_, GAME _28, TURN _2_, SIDE 1_. ============================================================= New Hero Lord Gruin arrives in IOC with an Elemental for 1033 gold. He knows that today, a noble hero should join his ranks. He waits, and waits, and finally, just as he had given up hope, NoBody emerges from the CNN Office with an Archon in tow. NoBody immediately runs over to Zak's Zone and encounters a drug test. With no body to test, the drug test disintegrates on the spot leaving The Chariot of Fire ripe for the taking. NoBody immediately grabs it and flies onward. Dragon Lord Gary III then races down the road to the VanKoughnett Pit, where he is none to surprised to find two noble dragons eager to join his ranks. However, he looks around and sure enough sees a cloud of dust racing towards the Pit. When it arrives, the dust devil which had been creating the cloud stops just long enough to take out his wand of teleportation and teleports one of the dragons to some unknown (and surely unstrategic) spot before he whirls away continuing on to whereever he's going. Gary III notices a piece of paper left behind from the storm, picks it up, and reads "Tournament rules - ONE Dragon allowed per ruin." He throws the paper into the nearby lake in a fit of rage, and climbs on the remaining dragon to continue onward. Gary III then orders one of his light cavalry units to take Nagano and the other one to take St. Moritz. They each do so successfully beating and kicking the pitiful scouts they each encounter until they are as the dust. Each light cavalry unit pillages their city for 175 gold. Gary III then purchases Griffins for St. Moritz and Wolfriders for Nagano. He then decides that is enough for today and rests for the upcoming battles. ______________________________________________________________________ Report for tournament Round A, Game 28, Turn 2, Side 3 Amount of gold at beginning of turn - 4,050 NoBody emerges in CNN Office for 1144 gold w/ an Archon. Lord Gruin saw that he and his companion Dwarf had almost reached the city of Stockholm the night before. He sent a messenger ahead to the city to let them know that he was outside their walls and that he would spare the citizens if they would relinquish the control to The Organizers. Since there was only a scout in the defensive team, the Mayor saw the light and opened the gates to Gruin. The scout was quickly dispatched to the Otherside! There turned out to be a well formed road on the otherside of the town, which Lord Gruin took until he saw the Ruin of Derek's Button. He was given the combination to open the Button by the Stockholm council. When the Button opened, two Demons from the Underworld were let loose. One agreed to join Lord Gruin's forces, while the attacked Gruin. After several passes over and around Gruin, the demon slipped back into the open cavern that the Button had shut off. As the demon slipped, the Dwarf pushed it further in, and Lord Gruin quickly resealed the Button. The remaining Demon was thirsty for others deaths and headed down the road to the city of Helsinki. Here he destroyed a scout that was outside the city walls and swallowed his spirit. This gave the Demon enough strength to continue down the road and out of the hills to the city of Melbourne. Here too, a scout was given as a sacrifice to the Demon. Another spirit gone. The Demon went into the city and coerced the leaders to build Pikemen for the Organizer team. The Elemental meanwhile awoke right outside the city of Mexico City, which he easily took and expunged the scout there to dust. From there, a quick trip was made to the city of Montreal. Here no one was willing to join with The Organizer's, so the Elemental not only purged the scout, but also razed the city. As the flames were taking over the last of the cities buildings, the Elemental ran back to Mexico City where Spiders were agreed upon as the best unit to build. The Dwarf that had traveled with Lord Ardais for awhile, found a trail in the hills and followed it to the city of Antwerp. Here a scout had his head axed by the Dwarf and city agreed to join the White forces. Lord Ardais and his Archon companion awoke on the high mountain trail. They followed it to the city of St Louis, where a scout was sent skyward by the Archon, never to be seen again. St Louis opened the beer taps for Ardais, who ordered that the mystic Unicorn be built there. This was a good day for the White team. Who knows about tomorrow. While he is doing so, he is surprised to hear the news that NoBody has taken Sarajevo, a loud sucking sound is heard as the scout guarding it is sucked into NoWhere, and Sarajevo gets pillaged for 175 gold. Continuing the assessment, he is again distracted when NoBody enters Scott's Secret, but one big mean Devil sure as Hell comes out. He sends the Devil over to Innsbruck, where the Devil, takes his very large pitchfork and impales the scout who was guarding it. After that, Dragon Lord Gary III finally has time to properly analyze his current situation, and he proceeds to enter the Barrow of Bruce. Four elementals quickly jump out ready to fight for the cause, but Gary III knows what's coming and hops back on his Dragon to continue his journey before the tournament messenger arrives. He sends back instructions, to the two remaining Elementals en route. The first elemental shoots out and quickly arrives at Barcelona, where he finds a scout to devour. Finding him less than tasty, the scout is spit out in one very large arc over the water outside Barcelona, to splash down with the sharks. The second elemental soon arrives at Chamonix and having heard the cries of disgust from his brother, does not try to eat the scout, but instead picks it up and tosses it out over the walls of the city to land in the lake nearby. Dragon Lord Gary III then decides that is enough troop movement for one day and sets about decided what to purchase. He settles on spiders for Innsbruck and Barcelona, and wolfriders for Chamonix. Looking around, he is quite happy with the progress. ______________________________________________________________________ Report for tournament Round A, Game 28, Turn 3, Side 3 Amount of gold at beginning of turn - 1,202 NoBody enters Scott's Secret and finds one devil. Time to give his troops some rest to get ready for the real battles that are soon to come. Before the sun was too far in the sky, a messenger bird from Eddi arrived relaying to Gruin the error in his (Gruin's) advisors in the use of the Great Warbot Machine. This was appreciated. Lord Ardais was travelling down a mountain trail when he felt a vibration. He was sure what it could be, so he and the Archon travelling with him cautiously approached a cavelike opening in the hills. As he came closer he saw a bloody sight! It was a giant wound at the entrance of a cairn. The Archon stated, "Ardais, I remember hearing a legend of a creature called Bazza who was killed because it got too greedy. It left a fortune in gold somewhere in these hills. But that a curse was left to guard the cairn. That curse was a Mighty Injury! This must be the Cairn of Bazza." Ardais threw a vial of bacteria at the Injury, and saw it slowly disolve into nothing. Inside was chest full of gold. When the two had finished counting, 2472 gold pieces had been added to the cause of The Organizers. Lord Gruin, meanwhile, travelled along the path that his Dwarf companion showed him until he reached Dirk's Cavern. This cavern was protected by Ghosts. 4 of them showed up when Gruin arrived at the mouth. "Two of you are all that can join this fight. The other two will have to wait until the next war." The ghost huddled together and began a series of paper, rock, scissors. As the first one lost, he disappeared from sight. The second to lose simply ran back into the cavern howling. Gruin gave the remaining two their orders, and they headed on down the hills. Gruin, himself, then left the sight of the cavern, on to his next stop. Another day was over. *********************** Official Turn Report Template************************ REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND A, GAME 28, TURN 4, SIDE 1. ============================================================= Gold at Start of Turn: 670 Hero Lord Gruin visits Dirk's Cavern and receives 2 Ghosts Hero Lord Ardais visits Cairn of Bazza and receives 2472 Gold New Build of unit type Archers purchased in city Antwerp for 1000 gold New Build of unit type Elephants purchased in city Helsinki for 1500 gold New Build of unit type Dwarves purchased in city Stockholm for 450 gold Final Cities: 9 Gold: 192 Income: 254 Expenses: 47. He notices that the festivities have finally begun. He tips his hat to Martijn to congratulate him on drawing first blood, and continues along his way. His only important stop this turn is in Vickers' Finale where he encounters a terrorist bomb. Thinking that it might come in handy should his friend to the north continue moving certain undead creatures in his direction, he defuses it, and stashes it in one of his dragon packs. Still in Vickers' Finale, he is pleased to note that he receives the Blessing of Olympus. As he has long been a fan of the Greek Deities, he graciously accepts it and continues along his way. He then sends an Elemental to take first Beijing and next Oslo. Each city is pillaged for 175 gold each. While he is analyzing his cities to determine production, he begins to hear some singing, "NoBody knows the trouble I've seen, NoBody knows my sorrow..." Wondering where that horrendous noise is coming from, he looks over and notices that it seems to be eminating from somewhere around where his Archon is traveling on the road. Unable to discern the singer, he goes back to his production decision, and decides to produce dwarves out of Oslo for 450 gold. He then orders his dragon to land, and he steps down to rest until the next day. ______________________________________________________________________ Report for tournament Round A, Game 28, Turn 4, Side 3 Amount of gold at beginning of turn - 220 Dragon Lord Gary III enters Vickers' Finale and finds the Blessing of Olympus. Word has reached the camp of the loss of the city of St Louis. Who knows what the final outcome might be? Lord Gruin traveled thru the hills with the expert help of his Giants and discovered the ancient ruin of Vaillancourthold. At the entrance of the Hold was a misshapen Pole. It appeared to have been broken from a Mages staff. As Gruin approached, the Pole broke away from the Hold and flew in his direction! Gruin raised his sword and split the Pole in two pieces, each passing him on either side. The Giant then broke each piece into splinters. Lord Gruin then went into the foyer of the Hold and saw a gun lying on a pedestal. He grabbed it exclaiming, "The Starter's Gun! This is a good find!" With that he and the Giant continued on their trek thru the hills. Lord Ardais had a dilemma. To turn back to St Louis or to go onward to Gary Best's Tomb. If he went back, he would probably meet the Orange hero Steve the Gruff. He wasn't sure that he had enough force to beat him in battle. A messenger from Lord Gruin resolved the problem by stating that the immediate target should be the Tomb. Thus Lord Ardais and travelling companions arrived at the tomb near the end of the day. In front of the entrance was the largest Pothole ever to be found in existance. It was said that an entire city once rested on that spot, but that the Pothole swallowed it whole and waited for more. Ardais fortunately had an Archon as one of his troop and easily flew over the gigantic hole. Inside the Tomb was a chest of gold containing 2492 pieces. "This will go well in the Organizer's coffers." Ardais said to the Archon. They then flew back out and joined the rest of the troop and made camp for the night. Meanwhile the 2 Ghost and the Elemental traveled thru the hills and across the plain to the city of Moscow, which was defended by one the great Griffins. (Merv, I believe I heard someone said.) A battle ensued, late in the evening, in which the Griffin quickly grabbed on of the Ghosts and swallowed it. However, ,the Elemental burned the Griffin's wings, while the other Ghost threw ectoplasm on the beast, and it disolved into nothing. The citizens of Moscow had to build a new nest, this time for Spiders, as the Elemental plundered the remains of the Griffin's nest for 850 gold Pieces. With this all of The Organizer's troops rested for the day. *********************** Official Turn Report Template************************ REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND A, GAME 28, TURN 5, SIDE 1. ============================================================= Gold at Start of Turn: 357 Elemental and 2 Ghosts attacks Moscow and pillages for 850 gold. My breakthrough in the North-West hasn't been large, but my mighty armies will rise in the neighbourhood to do some butt kicking. ---------------------------------------- Dear Lord Eddi, I'm sorry to inform you about the loss of a wolfrider of yours. The reason I left the city was that some kind of viral infection haunted it. It got to your wolfrider and it had to be put away. Although your offer is tempting, I don't want to leave my southern border undefended. It could be possible that hordes of little green men would enter my country, or some white storm might ruin my precious lands. So I do have to install a reasonable army in that area. Concerning your proposal for a neutral zone, I would suggest that we'd take the cities dividing our lands and raze them so that there would be no doubt about the border between our two nations. This means of course that you will have to evacuate these two cities. Any other action on your side will be viewed as being hostile towards my borders and severe repercutions will follow. I would like to suggest that we both concentrate on our western borders and devote the precious lives of our soldiers to the cause of destroying all white and green men. Having just picked up the Blessing of Olympus last turn, he realizes that the Greek gods must be smiling down on him. As he surveys the situation, there is a disruption to the east as NoBody enters the Dashorst Pit and removes the Eddy D Eagles' skis. Continuing his survey after that brief interruption, he is interrupted yet again, this time by a very large television appearing in the sky before him, tuned, of course, to CNN. Watching, he hears the host of the current show announce that Al Bundy has been brutally murdered while sitting, surprisingly?!?!, on the pot. It seems that somebody came in and decapitated him while he was in there, but NoBody seems to know who did it. The report goes on to detail that police were forced to enter the house with gas masks on because of the continuing odor eminating from the bathroom. "That Al sure knew how to Shit!" was the quote from one of the men entering the house. When they did dare to enter, they found his headless body sitting in a familiar pose on the couch with his hand in his pants, and the head was discovered looking up at them mixed in with the rest of the stuff floating in the toilet. The newsman ends the story by saying "While NoBody is currently a suspect, the police have revealed that there are many people who might have wished this fate upon Al. Only time will tell if the killer can be found." The television then vanishes as quickly as it had appeared. Dragon Lord Gary III next receives a report that NoBody has entered the Goransson Ruin and found 2474 gold pieces. Fortunately, he has a devil in the area and he quickly orders the devil in that area to pick it up and send it over pronto. Wondering what happened to the Cyan Standard and TV Rights that he knows Al was carrying, Gary III finally begins his movement for this turn. He wonders over to the Lair of Leung and discovers 2481 gold pieces lying around. He quickly picks them up and stores them safely. Dragon Lord Gary III then turns his thoughts to how to spend his plentiful gold. He orders Giants to be built in Sarajevo for 1100 gold. He orders elephants to be built in the CNN Office for 1500 gold. Finally, he orders Griffins, bats and light infantry to be built in Beijing for 2020 gold. Quite content about the happenings of the day, he decides that will be all. Side notes from the editor: Eddi - I did think that razing an enemy's city and then offering a truce sounded like a cowardly act. I am not surprised at all by Martijn's response. I do recommend that you take him up on that offer to allow him to raze two of your cities. With only one hero left, defending two fronts might be a little difficult. A second recommendation of mine, should you be inclined to listen, would be to save some of the gold that Peggy picks up from that ruin she is about to arrive at. You will be needing it to purchase another hero, should you be so foolish as to bring Peggy within my range as you did with Al. ______________________________________________________________________ Report for tournament Round A, Game 28, Turn 5, Side 3 Amount of gold at beginning of turn - 285 NoBody enters Dashorst Pit and finds Eddy D Eagles' skis. Although there is a cloud growing around the lost city of St. Louis. This would generally be a day of rest for most of the troops, as they prepare for the battle that the Athletes appear to be heading for. Lord Ardais takes his companions to the city of Munich, hoping to enjoy the finale of the famous OktoberFest. The defending Griffin screeched it's defiance, but was quickly pulverised in the three-way attack. It had sampled too much of the city's beer and took to the air in a drunken stupor. It saw six attackers, and usually aimed for the ones that were not there. It's movements were very slow and in reality, it had no chance for victory. The Elemental took a southerly trip to the city of Atlanta, and found it completely undefended. The Elemental had just watched the movie Gone With the Wind, which had given it the idea of visiting the city. When she found no defenders, she remembered the famous scene of Sherman's firing of the city and decided to see what it would look like in real life. Alas, Atlanta is no more. Dragon Lord Gary III had answered with a signed treaty for three days of battle. The southern front could rest a little while longer. Also, Lord Ardais had been visited in the night by the Olympic Gods and had declared that he had gained enough experiance to become a Cavalier. The city of Munich gave a great celebration causing Ardais to remain there another day. The Elemental, however felt that it would be too easy for the Athletes to gain the abandened city of Dublin. She traveled down the roads to the city and razed it. 160 gold pieces were plundered in the taking. As she headed back to Munich, she stopped at the ancient temple hoping to be blessed. Basically, this was another quiet day in the realm of Lord Gruin. While the method might not be the desired one, the news of her death so gladdens Dragon Lord Gary III that he orders the CNN Office to ship large quantities of champagne to all of his cities to celebrate the occasion. As he is making this announcement, he is bewildered to discover that NoBody has taken over the city of Calgary. Fortunately, he does have some troops in the area which have not yet partaken of the beverages and they trounce over and loot 160 gold pieces. He ensures that the CNN Office is aware of the new acquisition, for he would not wish these bold troops to miss out on the festivities. Before helping himself to the celebratory fluids, Dragon Lord Gary III marches over to Max's Manor and picks up the 2460 gold pieces that were awaiting him there. He then purchases bats and giants for the newly acquired city of Calgary since the minuscule light infantry which were being produced there are of no interest to him. Dragon Lord Gary III then grabs one of the bottles of champagne and pops the cork in a very loud and spectacular manner to begin the draining of his first bottle of the evening. While doing so, he considers the map, and then orders for a messenger wyvern. He orders the wyvern to deliver the following message to the mighty Lord Gruin - "I would be willing to extend our truce for two additional turns shouldst thou be so inclined - through the end of turn ten instead of turn eight" After finishing the first bottle of the night, Dragon Lord Gary III picks up his second bottle and after sending that cork flying through the sky, he begins to speculate who might show up to lead the blue armies next. This is something that Lord Gruin feels must stop. He assembles a group of cohorts and heads thru the hills to the city of St Louis, which turns out to have been left unprotected. The citizens hail the returning hero. Gruin only hopes that his advisors have told him correctly. During the day, a messenger from the Great Dragon Lord Gary III delivers a letter. Gruin opens it and sees good news! A request to continue the truce for two more turns. He quickly sends a answer stating, " Yes, I am more than willing to continue the truce. These Athletes just won't quit." Lord Ardais hears of movement in the mountains to his south. He and his Archon companion fly over the to a valley where a Spider and Wolfrider attached to the Athlete's side are found. By dropping a carried cauldron of hot firey oil on them, quickly dispatches them. Ardais then returns to Munich for yet more beer. *********************** Official Turn Report Template************************ REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND A, GAME 28, TURN 8, SIDE 1. ============================================================= Gold at Start of Turn: 1257. Here's my turnreport.... ======================================================================== Diplomatic messenger arrives at the Organizers' court and starts to read: Dear Organizers... I think that we should sign a peace treaty, since our Reporting friends are gaining too much power by conquering the Spectators so rapidly. I would like to suggest a cease-fire for at least 4 turns, in which I will retreat my forces from your homelands and return the conquered city. Furthermore shall I stop vectoring my armies to the west and only have enough legionaires for defence purposes. In return, I ask that you will also establish a minimal defence in your eastern regions, give my demon free way back to the homelands, and deploy your troops together with mine southwards, in order to crush the southernlands.. I sincerely hope you take this offer into consideration, since only the both of us will be able to withstand the hordes of the south. He discovers that the olympic gods are truly gracious when he is awarded with a promotion to level two. This news quickly removes the headache and he looks around to discover what has transpired since the prior day. As he is doing this, one of his messenger wyverns arrives with a message from the wicked Athletes to the Organizer's that one of his spies in the northeast managed to discover. He reads it with disgust, and, after thinking about it decides that he trusts Lord Gruin to do the proper thing with it upon its arrival - decapitate the messanger and send his head back. He does not expect that Lord Gruin would break his word on the current truce which already exists. Looking over the battlefield, the truce would serve only the Athletes interests anyway as the Spectators are moving the vast majority of his troops to the southwest leaving the border to the north extremely empty which is why the Athletes are so eager to swoop in. Dragon Lord Gary III's favorite dragon then moves in and attacks Grenoble, where he finds a spider waiting in the city. He swoops in and blasts the spider with a hot breath of fire. Successful, the dragon moves on to a more important battle upcoming. While this is going on, an elemental travels quickly and comes across two light infantry units lost in the hills. He quickly dispatches them and then travels onward where he meets up with a troop led by NoBody, but they are quite focused on their mission anyway. This troop meets up with the Dragon in The Swamp (where the ol' Gators play ... Go Gators!) and attacks a very large stack, led by a very large, but ill-prepared Demon, who were guarding a ruin. Shortly, they were no longer guarding that ruin. Its funny how that happens. NoBody enters the Vault of Saves. Fortunately, an archon sneaks out and happily joins some of Dragon Lord Gary III's troops in Grenoble. Dragon Lord Gary III hops on a nearby griffin and moves in on a Giant Worm which was slithering through a ruined city. With very little difficulty, he and the griffin fly in and quickly dispose of it. He then marches down the path and meets up with some more happy troops. They decide to camp for the night just off of the road. He then orders bats and light infantry to be purchased for Grenoble to reinforce the city's defenses and decides to turn in for the night. ______________________________________________________________________ Report for tournament Round A, Game 28, Turn 8, Side 3 Amount of gold at beginning of turn - 1,687 NoBody enters the Vault of Saves and finds an archon Dragon attacks Grenoble WarBOT beta 8 Armyset: Tournament b1-4 WL version: PC Deluxe Intense Combat: Off Terrain: Enemy city 0,1,2 prod Hero Bonuses Non- For- TOTAL Minus Fly Natural Item Hero tify City Cancel BONUS Enemy Item -------------------------------------------------------------- ATT: 0 0 1 0 N *1* 0 No DEF: 0 0 0 0 1 *1* 0 No Entered Final Attack Units: Strength Strength Survival % --------------- -------- -------- ---------- Dragon 7 8 0.57949 <-- Lives! It is from the dreaded Athlete's Generals Steve the Gruff and Mr Mikhael looking for peace. They wish for Lord Gruin to disolve his previous treaty with Dragon Lord Gary III and to let their Demon free access back to his homeland. Lord Gruin does not easily break treaties, especially when the other side has done nothing to warrant it. Also, He went into the treaty realizing that the Reporter's were in a good position to do what they are doing. Granted, he did not expect the Spectator's to fall down on their swords in such a cowardly fashion as they have. He remembers the warmup battle when he was lost early in the contest, but the team continued to fight and did so with well and with dignity. For these reasons, Lord Gruin sends back the Athlete's treaty unsigned and encloses the soul of the evil demon that ravished the Spectator's defenses. Lord Gruin took a troop of Dwarves and a Giant with him to the city of Athens and reclaimed the city after a grievous battle. The Lt Infantry went down as a Dwarf's axe split him at the waist. The Demon then felled that Dwarf with one swipe, and blood was running free. The Giant and a Dwarf battled the Athlete Dwarf beheading him in another pile of blood. The Demon made another swipe and another Dwarf was down. Finally Lord Gruin and the third Dwarf attacked the Demon. The Dwarf made a faint and the Demon dispossed of him, but left himself open for Lord Gruin's attack. Athens was free again! The city fathers immediatly restarted the Dwarf machine to begin building units for the Organizers. The day took longer than required as the battle field waited for the final decision of the Spectators. It is understood that the timeout will be returned. *********************** Official Turn Report Template************************ REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND A, GAME 28, TURN 9, SIDE 1. ========================================================== Gold at Start of Turn: 1359. The first is from Lord Gruin to the Atheletes. He is quite pleased with Lord Gruin's response to that gibberish the Atheletes were spewing. Second is a rather nasty reply back to Lord Gruin from the Atheletes with some rather unpleasant threats in it. Dragon Lord Gary reanalyzes the situation and believes that a renegotiation of the current truce is now in order, with the dissolution of the spectators so close at hand. He dictates "Lord Gruin, Thou hast proven to be a valuable ally. That being the case, I may in good faith recommend that we extend our truce forthwith for the purpose of destroying the Atheletes. Here follows what I propose - To begin with, we should extend our current truce through turn fifteen or until the misbegotten Atheletes are dead, whichever comes first. Any extensions past turn fifteen would have to be agreed upon by both parties. Also, should the Atheletes fall before turn fifteen (or afterwards, if the truce is extended), we allow a one full turn hiatus to allow us to both properly prepare our defenses. This would prevent the Warlord whom finishes off the Atheletes from being immediately ambushed by the other. However, the one condition that I must insist on is free access to the temple during our time of truce. As it is so far away from my main forces, I will not be able to get very many troops to it, but getting a couple of griffins an extra point of strength could only help our noble cause. I have begun vectoring some of my cities away from thy side. Shouldst thou agree to the terms set forth in this document, more vectoring will ensue. Yours Truly, Dragon Lord Gary III" Dragon Lord Gary III then goes on to attack the undefended Lack Placid. He loots 6 gold and pillages 250 more. From out of NoWhere, NoBody then assaults The Couch. Not surprisingly, the giant who marched in was not only not able to locate any defenders, he could only locate 6 gold to loot. The Couch is badly in need of refurbishing, and some troops are vectored over to begin the job. Finally, a lone wolfrider attacks the city of Sapporo. It also is undefended. He manages to loot 7 gold. Dragon Lord Gary III surveys the scene, decides to purchases bats, light infantry, and spiders for Lake Placid, and make a couple of vectoring adjustments.
