(motioning to the IOC scout) "Where's your Mouseketeer Hat? Why aren't you smiling? Why aren't you out collecting money? YOU'RE FIRED!" Lord Eisner looks to the heavens and sighs. "Uncle Walt would be turning in his grave if he saw this place. So barren of children crying to their parents for not buying some toy or trinket. No underpaid workers in silly costumes walking around. No torturous music like "Small World". No hidden security cameras. No one will stand in my way! All will join the marvelous Disney Empire or else they will be forced to sing "Its a Small World" Lord Eisner goes forth towards Stockholm but not before forming up the Main Street Lt Calvary. Lord Eisner enter Stockholm and is immediately assaulted by a Mickey Hating Scout. "Die Rat! Die!". Lord Eisner parries the attack with his Mouse Shield and then attacks with his sword. Things were certainly learned during that time, and she is hoping to put her experience to good ude. Knowing that she will be able to cope with the demands put upon her, I sent her early to the battle field, with small group of scouts. I have heard word, via the returning scouts, that she has convinced St. Moritz to join our cause, and they are busy training some giant bats - a new venture. They hope that the first flock (hmmm, is that the right word for giant bats I wonder) will be ready soon. In the meantime, I am preparing to send my son, Slim, to depart for the battlefield. He has already send out wolf trainers the the CNN Office, and is at this very moment looking for suitable alies to join him. That boy could needs a firm hand to pull him into shape. The worst is that my son Slim has been killed by the Archon of the evil Cammando. The second mistake is that Tyme is just short of reinforcing Montreal. I have had to abandon my big strategy to make sure that I can retake Montreal in the event that Lord Eisner takes it. I would send a plea to Dr H to forgive the rash attack on Melbourn made by my subordinates. I have called back the elementals responsible. You have regained Melbourn, and I have left Montreal open so that you may take reparations from me. I hope that this will be enough to repay you. Please note that if you want peace between us, you must move your hero and Demon from out of attacking range of my castles. They are strong pieces and they make my people anxious. If they are still within range at the end of the turn I will consider this an act of war. To Commando I send only regret that we can never be at pease now that you have killed by son. I will not rest until your armies are removed forever from the face of this earth. To Seymour Blood I send a note of peace. We both have no need to fear the other at this stage. It would be foolish for either of us to attack the other at the center of the map for no reason. I have absolutely no intentions attacking any of your pieces or castles. Oh well, at least it redirected a green unit away from the center for a turn or two. I assume everyone has studied the center city dilemma for a while now. I must say there are too many possibilities to cover everything. To make life simpler I have the following proposal for: DR H = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = You appear to have the best position at this point. If I take Mount Everest and Tokyo this turn I can threaten five other orange cities for next turn. Seymour blood will have to go and defend some of them unless he doesn't care about the cities. My main concern with this approach is obvious: do I want to be actively at war with two players. - If you want to ally with me and take out London, this will basically leave orange with two hero stacks. I'll take at least two more cities next turn while giving up the eastern center city of Dublin this turn (if he is willing to take it and sacrifice a special unit). Your position is strengthened if orange goes after me in the center and/or my region. I believe that we can 'squeeze' orange enough that he'll only have 4-5 cities on turn eight. We can split the orange towns. I'm willing to relinquish control over some of the cities to make sure you get your half. Since I move before you do, all my moves can be verified to be in accordance with this arrangement. His wizard in my region can take a city but will be killed right after taking it because no movement points remain to move back over water or mountains. - Green will also welcome this because he can go after me as well. Something that will strengthen your position in the west. Keep an eye on Moscow. Since I have to heavily defend Atlanta to receive my vectored units, green might do some suicide actions against that city, leaving Moscow undefended. - In short: ally with me against orange and keep moving south-west. You will gain many cities while orange and green actively fight my units so you can preserve yours. You can always check my position before committing your forces. Let me know if you want to pursue this strategy. SEYMOUR BLOOD = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Oh boy...what to do here.....I worked out three plans. - 1) A defensive one that includes keeping east and southern center cities. I have to bring my hero back to the center this turn to defend. 2) Long term unit build up does not look promising. Outlined above. Warlords in its prime evil meaning. 3) I can vacate Dublin. You can get a nice fat stack sitting on top of the temple, blocking it for green. This scenario will get you three center cities!!! Because we can team up against The Travelers last living hero. It does however require a tremendous amount of trust on my part since the units that vacate the city can be eliminated by your force and you and green can gang up against my southern city. ....hummm..... ....suggestions......... TRAVELLER = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = No option here I believe. LOOKING AT THIS ARCHIVE MESSAGE AGAIN, THERE IS ONLY ONE MOVE I CAN DO I GUESS.... GO WITH THE AGGRESSIVE MOVE TOWARDS THE NORTH EAST AND LET OTHER WARLORDS ACTIONS GUIDE THE WAY. I love this stuff. You will have nothing to fear from us and you can direct your efforts towards Commando. You can even empty your cities and I swear I will not attack (until Turn 19, of course :) The is no reason for you to fight a two front war. We would ask that you do not go to the Ruin called "Gary's Best Tomb" as confirmation of our proposal. Do not fear Lord Einser, his path takes him to the Tomb only, I apologize if it looks like he is coming too close but that is only because it is the shorest route. Reports of an attack by the Commando are greeted with surprise and confusion. Didn't the Commando request a truce of sorts and then attack anyway? What manner of Warlord is this, that offers a deal with one hand and then attacks with a knife in the back with the other? Beware fellow Warlords of the untrustworthy Commando! When Jimmy openned the mailbag and found all of the messages he was astounded. "Seymour, we must reply to these heros, so that we may continue this honorable battle." So, Seymour set pen to paper... Lord Eisner: Thou art a nobel and wise ruler. Calculating your odds before attack. Perhaps you should have done that before putting a park in Paris! Therefore, Seoul in now mine. If you vacate Mt Everest, Dublin, and the temple on your next turn, I shall grant you a reprieve of my wrath until round 10. This will give you the opportunity to repell the attack of the Traveler. We can both focus our efforts elsewhere. You made several offers to me. I am willing to accept your last. If you expect to be trusted in any of your future battles, you should hold true to your offer. Your next move is critical.... check. Seymour, Merlin, and Gandalf attack Seoul. It seems like Commando made an offer to Seymour Blood and then promptly rushed his elemental up to take some of Seymours cities. It is quite clear that Commando is totally untrustworthy. Let any one who allies with him beware! Initial reports from Dr H. seemed to bode well. He dispatched only a pikeman to take Montreal, and sent a message offering a non-aggression pact. Just as I was about to sign it I hear reports that Lord Eisner and his demon have not moved away at all. In fact they have moved closer, bringing with them a sizable army. Did I not make it clear to him that I would consider this an act of war. There can be no peace between us while you have such a powerful army on my doorstep. I will not sign a peace treaty while I have knife to my throat. I sent out a scouting party of Minotaurs to see what Dr H. was up to in Montreal, and received word that he had not sacked the city for cash (part of my generous offer for peace) but set about producing Spiders with all speed which will further threaten my cities. I have been generous to the extreme in my dealings with Dr H., but I cannot allow him to threaten my cities in such a manner. I have no choice but to take minimal action. The Minotaurs are to retake Montreal. I have no guilty consience about doing so. I clearly stated that if he desired peace, Lord Eisner and the demons must move out of attacking range - Dr H. has decided to ignore my offer - and so there is no agreement between us. I think we can still achieve a peace however, so I will send another offer to Dr H. My Elementals made good progress into Commando's teratory, although without support this will be a short lived advantage. My main objective was reached, however, which is to gain revenge for the death of Slim. The Couch, capital of Commando was taken and razed to the ground. The smoke still lingers in the sky to remind everyone of the evil of Commando's actions. Letters ------- To Dr H: Sir, your actions recently have me worried that you are not interested in peace. You ignored my warnings and moved Lord Eisner and Demons closer to my cities. This is totally unacceptable - I did not plan to, but I must take Montreal back to secure my cities. Please believe me when I say that I do not wish for war between us. If you move your powerful armies away from me, I will move mine away from you. I need to concentrate my armies to make sure that Commando will be unable to attack my cities from his strong base in the center. I took minimal action to ensure my safety. Out of respect for your wishes, Tyme did not visit "Gary's Best Tomb". All that cash lies still for your taking. If you truely wish peace then protect your castles, but do not threaten mine. The words of a treaty are nothing if actions do not follow. I have no reason to attack you at the moment. If you give me no reason next turn then I will not attack any of your armies next turn. But I repeat again, you must remove your hero and demon from out of attack range. If you have a solid proposal for a peace treaty, please reply as soon as possible to this message. The Traveler ---- To Seymour Blood: I understand your eagerness to clash swords, but first we must dispose of the treacherous Command. Let us band together, with our combined strength we can remove him more quickly and both get down to more interesting battles. We can carve up his land evenly amongst the two of us. You will come off the better as I only have one hero left, and he naturally concentrates his attacks on me. You have a number of powerful armies in very well placed positions and if you wish, we can work out a general strategy to overwelm our common enemy. You have time to think about it before you reply. Commando would be foolish to attack you with such a strong alliance on the table (maybe I have saved two of your cities from the attacks of his elementals by sending you this note). But consider it carefully, it is a serious offer and one that I will take seriously. Like you I will honour any treaty or pact that is made, and I will not go back on my word. It is good to see that honerable warlords such as you and I still exist. The Traveler ---- To Commando: I have some revenge for the death of Slim, but quarrel is not over yet. Hart" <#darrenh2@ix16.ix.netcom.com> to all players; Lord Eisner and Uncle Walt are again conversing over the holo-phone. Uncle Walt opens the conversation, "Seymour says Hi. He is concerned about our expansion plans especially in the light of our proposed treaty with The Traveller and he said we should have thought twice about making Paris into a army park. And come to think of it, I'm wondering what our expansion plans are. You never tell me anything! Oh yeah, and Seymour has proposed a 5 round truce" "Yes well. Paris is our R & R city. It's where our young dwarves and toon characters can go and unwind. I have to admit, I wasn't all that sure what we were going to do if the Traveller did accept our treaty and all the neutral cities are now taken. There is only already occupied cities to attack. Decisions Decisions. Please tell Seymour we would be happy to enter in a truce with him for at least the next 5 rounds. Who knows, maybe it would be benefical to extend the truce. He's got Commando to his south and we've got the Traveller" Lord Eisner pauses and takes a deep breath. He then starts to write a letter. As he writes, he tells Uncle Walt the contents of the letter. "My Dearest Traveller: You are a fool. A paranoid, untrustworthy, fool. I was fully prepare to honor the non-aggression pact. You would have been free to wage war on Commando without hinderance from me. I placed trust in you that you would NOT re-take Montreal or attack Lord Eisner. In fact I said in RETURN for that trust, I propose the Non Agression Pact - therefore you are untrustworthy in my eyes. As for Lord Eisner and the Demon "moving closer" I also said -"Do not fear Lord Einser, his path takes him to the Tomb only, I apologize if it looks like he is coming too close but that is only because it is the shorest route.". If you had bothered to look at his movement pattern you would have seen that he was on his way to the Tomb. BY THE SHORTEST ROUTE. Why would I propose non-agression and then move to attack a city that I could not hope to win let alone keep for a turn? Now I will admit that I did not fully trust you and sent the entire army with Lord Eisner (not that he would have survived if you would have attacked) as meager protection. Any route execpt backwards would have taken him "closer" to your cities. Obvouisly your "offer" of compensation of Montreal was nothing but smoke. Funny, I did not read in your note "go ahead and take Montreal but don't build spiders because that would be war" or "My offer of compensation was for you to sack Montreal and but don't you dare not sack and build spiders." I cannot believe your comment "set about producing Spiders with all speed which will further threaten my cities.". Again WHY would take take Montreal, produce a spider a turn (which is all the speed I could make them with - too fast for you?), propose a non-aggression pact ALL WHILE YOU COULD EASILY TAKE THE CITY BACK? Oh right I forgot, You couldn't trust me because Lord Eisner and Pain crossed your imaginary line. As far as I am concerned I have acted extremely hororably in this matter. I sent you an honest proposal. I took only Montreal and that is as far as I was going to go. I sent Lord Eisner on a direct route to the Tomb and told you that I was. You- "offered" Montreal and then re-attacked it. You may or may not believe any or all of what I said - I care not. You obviously did not believe my offer of non-agression just as I did not take seriously your threat of Lord Eisner and Pain moving closer. I felt my offer of non-agression and my explanation of why Lord Eisner and Pain were moving where they were would be enough. I did not reckon on your paranoia. So I will tell you that I will re-take Montreal. Depending on your responses and actions I may or may not stop there." Lord Eisner also pens another letter while saying, "I mustn't forget Commando. It would be rude." "Commando, I sincerely hope things go well for you in the next couple of turns. With Traveller declaring all out War and Seymour issuing an ultimatuem, things don't look good with you." Once I enter an agreement, I keep my side of it. Always have, always will! If you doubt this, check my practice game P29 archives. Yes, I've made PROPOSALS to several warlords but an AGREEMENT was never reached. If Seymour Blood would have agreed to go west-ward, his hero would still be alive and we would have marched together for the next 13 turns. I would have also gladly allied with white if Dr H would have attacked London. However, this is all hypothetical since Dr H did not enter into an agreement with me and neither did Seymour Blood. As to the matter of taking an orange city. I can't afford to sit back and do nothing if my archive message remains=20 unanswered when I must submit my turn. =20 In short, all my attempts at finding an ally have simply fallen on deaf ears. Every turn I assess the situation and propose a IMHO winning alliance with one side. I understand this is only a game, and a great one at that but please don't accuse me of breaking my word. Now that I've gotten that of my chest, here we go again with a PROPOSAL!!! I'll shut up after this one. White said no. Orange said war. Green wanted revenge and got it. =3D=3D=3D=3D TO Dr. H =3D=3D=3D=3D My London-scenario was not suicide at all. Orange could not have taken it back from you and his forces would have been forced to fight at two fronts. A miscalculation on Seymour Blood's part (Blessed Giant Worm!) has cost him dearly by the time you read this. His armies are spread out and weakened. London could still be yours. =3D=3D=3D=3D TO SEYMOUR BLOOD =3D=3D=3D=3D Sorry, you leave me little choice. My offer was good when I made it previous turn but you rejected it. My offer is no=20 longer valid and we should consider each other enemies. =3D=3D=3D=3D TO TRAVELLER =3D=3D=3D=3D You and me against orange and white!!! Ahh, revenge. Feels good, doesn't it. When I opened my turn you had razed and occupied my worst case scenario. Your build up of forces is impressive. I believe my center cities are in trouble. You're positioned extremely well for battle in the NorthWest and I will have already moved towards the East in anticipation of our alliance. Trust is a delicate matter as we have seen so far. I've spent many hours figuring out how I can build trust without leaving myself wide open to elimination. I concluded that there could be no trust without risk on my side. My gamefile shows what I came up with. A textual description of the reasoning follows. 1) INNSBRUCK I took Innsbruck. Increased production to three units and left it undefended so you can take it back. When you have taken it back, the increased production will leave the city defended without having to leave your devil behind! I had to take the city first so you can not defeat my cities in my southern region on your turn if you decided not to ally. The extra production is my gift to you for allying. My risk of course lies in the fact that you can now take the city with better defenses even if we don't ally. I did not raze the city so you could have it back. 2) SAPPORO After much thought, I also removed my forces out of reach of retaking the city of Sapporo. This is the biggest potential risk. It leaves you with a defensible city deep in my region. I figured, no risk, no trust. I do ask of you to leave the city empty next turn so I can take it. I will need the units in the war effort. Also, until we have our trust established, I can't afford to have you build up in that city. You will understand why I must ask for this city back. By moving my units out of reach, you can keep the city if you decide not to ally.... a risky move, but worth it, if it convinces you I am serious about our alliance. 3) GRENOBLE You have noticed this city is also still yours. It will help you with gold production. Another city you can keep for now that I need back in two turns. Between Sapporo and Grenoble, you can move a lot of units into position. If we don't ally I'm in trouble leaving all these cities to you, especially because you could pillage Innsbruck, still defend it and use it's gold to build production units in Grenoble. As I mentioned before. No risk, no trust, no alliance. 4) ATLANTA A nearly empty city that was supposed to be heavily guarded to ensure the arrival of vectored units. There is enough defense to hold of orange but obviously not nearly enough to withstand the armies you can put to bear here. If we are to ally, leave this city mine. The vectored units will move NorthEast to help defend Dublin and/or attack orange. 5) ITEMS I will give you the +2 battle item I just snatched from orange. My hero will return to Dublin with this item. They are yours if we ally. I haven't figured out what the best exchange point is. You can choose something that you feel is safe. 6) GOLD I'll leave the gold at Birnbauns Crypt for you to take.=20 7) TEMPLE The temple is open for your all your units to be blessed.=20 You won't loose units and more importantly movement points getting to the temple. 8) GAMEFILE RISKS Sure you can exploit my trusting moves. You take back Innsbruck, pillage it, thank me for the gold and use it to build production in Grenoble. You move units to Sapporo and defend it. You keep Grenoble. You slam Atlanta and do not loose units. Move everything together in the temple and move East or SouthEast next turn.=20 I'm taking these risks because I know that together we can split the board by turn 20. Our two kingdoms out produce orange and white. We have almost double the armies that they have. If we don't destroy them against each other we will be able to both control about 50% of the cities at the end of this round. World domination is cool, but first things first. Let's ensure a place in the next round. I had to build in some protection by positioning my hero in your region. Rest assured that he will disappear immediately upon verification of the alliance. Moving all my strong units to Dublin leaves it protected and if you decide to attack me I have retaliation forces available. Also, it appears to me that if you move your forces actively against me, you leave yourself vulnerable against attacks from white. 9) ALLIANCE SUMMARY ACTIONS I took Innsbruck and upped defenses (T6). You retake it (T7).=20 You took Sapporro (T6), I don't threaten units (T6), you vacate it (T7), I retake it (T7). You don't attack Atlanta. I leave battle and gold items (T7), you pick them up (T8). I don't take gold (T6, T7), you take gold (T8). You leave Grenoble (T8), I retake it (T8) You give up two cities (one if which is not producing). You get one city, two items and gold. We don't fight each other and focus North. We both get halve of all cities in the end. We both enhance our change to go to the next round. Enough said. Your moves will indicate what is to become of the great blue/green alliance. Those who set aside their early battles and team together are ensured victory (especially with twice the number of armies as the opposition). *** WARBOT REPORTS ** WB1 ATTACK ON ORANGE HERO OF JIMMY BUFFET AND HIS DEMON ** (Please note that Giant Worm is blessed) WarBOT beta 8 Armyset: Tournament b1-4 =20 WL version: PC Deluxe Intense Combat: Off Terrain: Forests Hero Bonuses Non- For- TOTAL Minus Fly Natural Item Hero tify City Cancel BONUS Enemy Item -------------------------------------------------------------- ATT: 1 3 2 0 *4* 0 No=20 DEF: 2 0 1 0 0 N *3* 0 No=20 Entered Final Attack Units: Strength Strength Survival % --------------- -------- -------- ---------- *Hero 5 9 0.73455 <-- Lives! Let me make responses in reverse order: To Commando: I have read your plan and will consider it. I do not consider you totally trustworthy, as you have performed actions that have contradicted your words, but you are right when you say that you have not broken any treaty yet - for no one will align with you. I really do not see how such a comprehensive treaty will benefit me, but it may have some merit, especially if Dr H decides to embark on all out war with me for some very dubiously constructed reasons. I cannot say yes to you at the moment as I have made an offer to Seymour Blood and I am waiting for a response from him, I will honour my prior offers first. On a personal note, I can never forgive you for sending your Archons to kill my son Slim, and the only reason that I send you this courtesy is that my advisors have begged me to do so. Give me any excuse for war and I will continue my campaign against you. To Seymour Blood: I have made you an offer to join against Commando. I must receive your reply soon so that I can make preparations. I have received a counter offer which I do not much like from Commando. I also received word from Dr H that he wishes war against me, and as such I must ask that if we join together you must aid me in the defense of my castles against Dr H. If you sign a peace treaty with Dr H, we will be in very unequal positions, and I fear that our treaty would not last long. I am open to suggestions. Also taking Atlanta would be an aggressive move in my eyes - and one that would not be of use to you for your long term strategies. I wish you well in your next turn, where you must prepare your defenses against Commando. To Dr H: I am not sure what you logic is. I offered you Montreal for peace, but twice made it clear that and movement of Lord Eisner and his demon that brought them into attacking range of my castles would be considered an act of war. There is no imaginary line that you crossed. I think that any independent observer would say that Lord Eisner and his large army moved from a position that was slightly threatening to a position that was very threatening. Doing that after all my requests for you not to do it, and then say that it was not an aggressive move seems at best naive. You could have moved Lord Eisner back towards Helsinki and from there to Gary Best's Tomb. That would have cost you about 2 more steps and you wouldn't have had to take your pikemen with you. In fact taking that route, you would have been there this turn, and Montreal and Mexico City would be well defended. If this was a mistake on your part, and you still wish peace then I am happy to oblige. Move Lord Eisner away and we can talk about peace. I have only one hero, and it makes me nervous that there are two on my borders. I do not wish to dwell on my actions from last turn. If you would take a close look at the map at the end of your last turn, and project what could have happened in the next few turns had you decided not to undertake you 'non-aggression pact', you can see why I took the action I did. I consider it the minimal action to safeguard my castles. I did not attack Lord Eisner or any of your castles, I did not goto Gary Best's Tomb. I did this as I believed that you wished for peace. It seems silly to squabble over one city and to pursue all out war because of it, especially one that was mine and I gave to you as a peace gesture! The key problem here is not Montreal, but the unnecessary prescence of Lord Eisner. I consider there to be no offers on the table between us. I am happy to negotiate Montreal away to you again, but please do not attack it this turn. If there is war between us I have plenty of force that I can use to ensure that it will be to your detriment. Commando offers me peace at this very moment. A war against you with my other front free from attack is a very different prospect don't you think? You have nothing to fear, I am a man of my word. [ed note: Seymour's comments in the previous message regarding Paris were intended for the "real" world not the "game" world. No comment on Lord Eisner's strategy or game play was intended. My mistake for confusing the two worlds. I have really enjoyed Darren's role play and choice of idioms.] The Traveler: I am sorry that I am so late in responding to your offer. My messengers were lost in the forests. [ed note: my email crashed. Something to do with DNS records...] I would welcome a combined assault on the vile Commando. My peace treaty with Dr H. prevents me from assaulting him, so you are on your own against him (for right now). I will not attack you until round 12 so we can concentrate on Commando. Atlanta is yours! I propose that you take it this turn as he has several armies vectoring there which will arrive this round. By taking it, you will slow down the commando as those armies will take two turns to reappear at their starting points. Good luck! Commando: Hey Commando, are you an English professor or some other person who dwells in semantics? My mistake for accusing you of going against an "agreement". However, if you really wish to enter an "agreement" it would be best if you did NOT follow your "proposals" with an attack. In case we meet again, attacking an opponent while a "proposal" is on the table is considered "bad form". Of course, I am only speaking for myself. But, it appears that the Traveller shares this opinion. On the other hand, if your "proposals" are just veiled attempts to reduce the attacks on yourself while you jockey into better position, then you are performing admirably. Let it be known, that for the duration of "THIS GAME" we shall battle to the death. [ed note: It is just a game. I hold no hard feelings against Nico, just against the Commando.] Translation: Seymour wins Mt Everest from Blue. By signing a non-aggression pact, orange and white have severely limited their unit movements. They can only come down south through the narrow corridors in the east and west. You already control the west one and I the eastern corridor. We can reinforce them and completely cut of the flow of enemy units. We can however not waste time fighting each other. Allying now makes sense for both of us. We control the center except for the northern city. By NOT attacking my southern center city, my vectored units and the produced unit completely sure up that pathway down into our regions and can even attack the northern city this turn. (Or, you can take Munich this turn and I can drop of the +2 battle item close to it for you to pick up next turn). Some changes to my initial proposal that will simplify things. If you want, pillage Inssbruck, use the gold to build heavy infantry in Grenoble. You keep Grenoble and Sapporo. For your turn 7 just don't attack Atlanta and vector production units from Sapporro and Grenoble towards a front city somewhere. My hero will fly north as fast as possible but obviously will be in reach of some of your cities. I bring this up now to avoid anxiety and confusion in the next couple turns. The more power I can move north the better so I prefer to pick up Slim's +2 battle item and fly as many units as possible north. If you want, Slim's +2 battle item can stay where it is. One thing that would help me is to regain control over the city of Sapporro. I can revector spiders to a front city from there. This is up to you. If you want to keep the city make sure to vector production out of it. Someone left the door open. You offer only a non-aggression pact between us. I will accept this and we will not war until turn 12 (please confirm that you also agree). I am a little upset that you have entered into an agreement with Dr H also, as this will force me to defend myself against his attack alone. I therefore will not be able to aid you against Commando. To Commando (from an commander of Travelers armed forces): I read your proposals and found them lacking in a number of ways. I gained little from your proposals, and you gained much. I decided to press ahead with my current plans, and have taken Atlanta. I am sure that you will be annoyed at this, but your peace offer was not enough. I think we would be silly to war at this point as we both have armies on out doorsteps. We should come to some agreement. You are right, I should not keep Sapporo, it does not make sense to have a castle so far in your teratory, so I would be happy to make an exchange. Please make me an offer. A powerful hero item, or another castle, perhaps one on my boarder would be a fair exchange. You may notice that some of my units have advanced further into your terratory. Let me assure you that this is only a back up plan for me. I wish for peace, and will remove them if we can come to some accord. These units are not powerful enough to worry you, but are there to convinse you not to mass an army against me. For any sort of peace you must remove your hero, and other armies from my land, You must not take the Chariot of Fire, nor loot Max's Manor. Also you should not loot Gorranson Ruin for 3 turns. In return for this, I will offer you a stable, cooperative peace that we can build on to form a more lasting alliance To Dr H: You are massing a large army at my borders. You have a pact with Seymour Blood. I can only assume that you intend to attack me. I am writing to ask you to reconsider. It is not to late to turn back your armies and overt a costly war that you will damage us both, and that you will ultimately loose. I have moved my Tyme away from your castles, so that she is not in range to attack. You have behaved sensably so far, so let reason reign and do not move to attack me. If you wish for peace then offer me a treaty. Peace with between Commando and I is not certain, but I suspect we will come to some agreement very soon. REPORT FOR TOURNAMENT ROUND 01, GAME A20, TURN 08, SIDE 1 Lord Eisner and Uncle Walt meet just north and east of the Melbourne Mountains. Uncle Walt salutes his Lord, "Greetings. I bring you the magical flying item as you requested. What will you do with it?" Lord Eisner looks at Uncle Walt determining if Walt should know his plans. "I will travel to the Tomb, where there is rumoured to be treasure and then I intend to fly onward to the Temple through the mountains." "What are your orders? What shall I do in your absence?" "Walt, you must guard our border. Commando offered Traveller peace but Traveller declined saying it wasn't rich enough. Commando might yet sweeten the pot." "Is that why you called me down from St. Louis?" "Yes. With a temporary (hopefully more than temporary or at least longer) peace with Seymour, there was no need for you to be up there. And it would have been rude to enter Seymour's territory. If nothing else, Traveller taught me that. So I called you and the troops southward. To protect our cities, not attack. If Commando and Traveller sign peace that would be a very bad thing. For Seymour and us. Traveller has the largest nation after all. Traveller does seem interested in peace with us, however. He even moved Tyme away from the town. We'll see what happens. Set up shop in Melbourne. You'll be there a while." The two heroes part, each eager to fulfill his goal. Lord Eisner and Pain enter the Tomb. There they find more treaure than they can count! Gems sparkle, Diamonds reflect, Rubies glare, Jimmy Hoffa's feet stick out from a pile of gold (so that's where he was!), Saphhires shine, Emeralds gleam. Lord Eisner loads himself up with all he can carry and starts to leave but Pain is nowhere to be found. Eisner searches and searches. Finally he finds Pain unconscious with a huge grin on his face. "Looks like he's been swimming in the gold!", Lord Eisner mutters. "Damn! There's no way I'm spending the night here with Pain out cold. I'm virutally alone. I'm going to call Uncle Walt and see if he can bring me some back-up. Looks like I have to use the shoe phone, the mountains are blocking reception". One touch of the speed dial later..... "Walt? Its me Eisner. Looks like I won't be going on to the Temple tonight. Pain's passed out...uh huh...yep..All alone...nope. So think you can bring some reinforcements, just for tonight?....Yeah, after I 'wake' Pain up in the morning, we'll continue on to the Temple as I explained earlier...nope...no...maybe...I hope not..Look, there's nothing I can do about where I am. Hopefully Traveller won't get too excited. He has thing about Heroes moving in close you know. I hope he realizes that I haven't attacked anything of his, except by invitation. I haven't provoked him (in my opionion) and I haven't threatened him...well okay, I did rant and rave about Montreal but I was upset over Commando's proposed peace agreement. I've been very forthright in my movements. Again, all I can say is I'm headed towards the Temple. I stopped at the Tomb like I've declared all along. The only reason I have for having all the troops with me is to protect myself. If all goes well, I'll send them back in the morning. Hopefully neither Seymour's nor Traveller's troops will be at the Temple when I get there. That way I can get in and get out. Perhaps he and I could team up against Commando? I certainly can't attack Seymour. I don't want to attack Traveller. That only leaves one other to attack by process of elimination. Oh yeah, don't forget to send some pizza with the troops. Looks like we should at least call a cease-fire. You need to move your second hero up to the front with Seymour's Devil coming up fast. I have matters to deal with on other fronts, we should at least suspend operations against each other and talk about an alliance. I am willing to listen to offers to exchange cities with you, so that you can organize you armies better. I will make no moves against you if you make no threatening moves. Please be careful not to move your hero into positions that could be misinterpreted. Maybe we should also think about vectoring armies away from our common front, and moving some of the many spiders away to ease the financial burden on both of us. What do you say? I may even be able to persuade Traveler to make the alliance more permanent if things work well in the next few turns. To Dr H. Well I guess a war is brewing on our border. All will see very soon what your intentions are. You have amassed a large force that is looking menacingly down the valley at my castles. People are living in fear.
