OZ SCENARIO - Australia and New Zealand.
by Michael Thompson
michaelt@ozemail.com.au

I have designed this to be a simple and quick scenario about early
Australia. I have edited to army set to feature Australian and New
Zealand creatures and people in history. However the scenario isn't a
strict historic one.

SIDES::

SETTLERS -- The european arrivals, namely the convicts and british
soldiers that came to the new Australian penal settlement.

ABORIGINALS -- The indigenous inhabitants of Australia.

MAORI -- New Zealand's indigenous inhabitants, A fierce warlike
polynesian race.

TASMANIANS -- Also aboriginal but seperated from their mainland cousins
since the end of the last ice age.

ISLANDERS -- South Pacific polyneesian races. Brought to Australia to
work in the cane fields.

ARMY TYPES:

CONVICTS -- The prisoners brought to the new penal settlement. Often
guilty of the petty crimes like stealing food. Most did not want to be
here and were scared of the new country.

PELICANS -- I needed a basic flying unit, Pelicans are very common here.

SPEARMEN -- Aboriginal, Moari , Tasmanian and Islander people, those not
trained in the warrior traditions, but called upon to defend a villiage
under attack.

DINGOES -- Wild Australian dog, gets a bonus in woods / hills. A cunning
animal, but quite weak.

BOOMERS -- The largest Kangaroos, close to 6ft in height are called
Boomers, although mostly peaceful vegetarian they can still damage with
sharp claws. More then one squatters dog has been disembowelled by a
boomer. Boomers can cover large distances.

WOMBATS -- Small but strong animals. Under seige they can be impossible
to dislodge from their burrows.

RUM CORPS -- Your everyday Bristish soldier ( redcoat ). Like the
convicts they had no joys in being in this strange land, thousands of
miles from family. Most took to rum drinking and rum was the unofficial
currency of the early colony.

BOOMERANGS -- A stronger unit then the spearman. Men skilled in this
weapon are able to bring down prey from a distance.

TASMANIAN DEVILS -- Very small, but ferocious carnivores. They make
blood curddling growls and screams as they tear apart their prey.

SQUATTERS -- Free settlers who have stacked a claim to a patch of land.
Squatters are hard to move once settled.

BRUMBIES -- Australian wild horses

THYLACINES -- The Tasmania Tiger, now extinct. A more powerful creature
then the dingo, but unlike the dingo, the Thylacines is a marsupial.

MOARI -- The New Zealnder tribemen, fierce and independant.

BUSHRANGERS -- Highway robbers who would hold up coaches. Usually
bushrangers are escaped convicts. Tough and resourceful.

SALTY CROCS -- Man eating crocdiles found in saltwater lakes and rivers.

WEDGETAILS -- One of the largesr birds of prey in the world. Able to fly
great distances.

MIN MIN -- myterious light seen in the Australian outback.

MOAS -- Gaint birds, now extinct. The Moa stood up to 9ft tall and
could with one rake of its claw cut a man open.

ALL BLACKS -- The NZ rugby union side. The most feared rugby union
players in the world. They work best as a team.

WARRIORS -- Aboriginal, Islander, Tasmanian and Moari warriors. Tribal
members whose talents were with the woomera, spear and other weapons.

ANZACS -- Australian and New Zealand WW1 fighting men.

CANNIBALS -- Mainly islanders, but other races as well. Powerful
warriors who ate their victims.

YOWIES -- The Australian " big foot ". A powerful creature standing to
10ft in height.

KANGAROOS -- The Australian Rugby League side.

NED KELLY -- A legendary bushranger. Ned Kelly wore a suit of armour.

SPIRITMEN -- The most feared of all tribal people. The spiritmen could
fly, be invisble, command thunder and lightning and kill by simply
pointing a bone.

BUNYIPS -- Large creatures similar to dragons. although they could fly
they spent most of their time in waterholes.
