by Christoffer Lern

SCENARIO

A thousand years ago, evil threatened the lands of Phantasie. Only
after a hundred years of war, the evil was finally vanquished, and
the lands were freed from the taint of chaos and evil.

Nine hundred years later, the lands are again on the verge of war,
only this time the enemy is greed and expansionism.

PARTICIPANTS

The Kingdom:
Searching to resurrect its former glory by uniting the lands.

The Orcs:
Striving to show their worth by conquest.

The Elves:
Convinced that only through their guidance will the land have peace and
 freedom.

The Northern Tribes:
Expansionist and explorers, the tribes of the north will conquer the world
 if they're not stopped.

The Giants:
Claiming the world which is theirs by right.. they were here from the
days of old and they won't be pushed away north any more.

The Dwarves:
Greedily guarding their treasures, there is nothing they won't do
to protect their people and their gold.

The Horse Tribes:
The people of the southern plains were still nomads at the time of the
Great War. They intend to prove the superiority of their culture by
 conquering the world.

The Dark Elves:
Long allied with the powers of darkness and evil, the dark elves will
try to create a world molded in their image.

GAME DESIGN NOTES

My original ambition was to pick my favorite armies from the scenarios
shipped with the game and create my "ideal" armylist for playing with
random maps. Later I decided to design a new map and borrow names from
various mythologies, as well as adding some stuff of my own.

For the army set I ended up making some new icons for some of the armies.
The orcs, trolls, dark elves, trollslayers, demonlord and the female hero
are "new".. based on icons from different scenarios.

Some races have one "primary" army and a stronger "secondary" army type
connected to their lands.

The orcs have trolls, the dwarves have Trollslayers (elite dwarven warriors)
and elves have forest spirits (and to a lesser extent, pegasus).

THE MAP

As you'll see, there are a lot of roads in this world. I went for this
look because this makes for a quicker progress of the game, and I think
the map looks better this way. ;)

Strategy is important in this scenario. You can gain quite an advantage
by seizing strategically placed cities, before anyone else does.

I have tried to confine the "races" to certain regions. The giants to the
northwest, berserkers to the west, dark elves to the northeast, dwarves in
the mountain regions, elves in the large forest and orcs to the southwest.

HERO NAMES AND ITEMS

There are not a lot of names, but I wrote some new ones and removed
those that did not fit with the scenario.
I removed most of the standard fantasy items from Erythea and wrote new for
my scenario because I was bored with the old ones.

LAST WORDS

Towards the end of game, when you have lots of armies and a huge empire,
you'll probably notice how you're running out of money.. this is quite
normal... Deal with it! :)

I hope you'll like this scenario, at least I do... :)
